I will NEVER get tired of this song! I've been a fan of Devo since the Duty Now album, and my favorite song might change daily, but on most days it's this one. Thanks for posting.
One of Devo's best songs. "Half a goon and half a god." What a great way to describe the human condition. I find this song to be strangely uplifting and its a nice contrast to some of their more cynical or satirical work (which I also love).
I saw Devo live, right around that time, by purest accident. (Might have been '81 or '82.) I was in Sacramento on business and had an evening free. Walking with an associate we came across a concert venue with a ton of young folk gathering to enter or buy tickets. There was one guy hawking tickets near the street corner, so we asked who was playing. Devo, as it turns out. Now at that point, we had heard of them and the growing phenomenon, but I literally had not heard a single Devo song at that point. We figured it would be, at the least, an interesting way to kill the evening. We got tickets from the venue ticket office and in we went. By the time the show was half over, we were devoted De-evolutionists, lol.
I saw Devo live at Festival Hall in Melbourne Australia in '82, on their New Traditionalists tour. I'm still a bit pissy that some girlfriend stole my t-shirt from that gig.
Electro Art-Punk. This music is forever!!!!!
