This would be really cool by using the WW2 pieces first and then going from there into the Cold War rules. Using the prelude expansion and the total war expansion (2nd Ed) then it is a super epic game night!
Excited to play this, as all of the Quartermaster Games have been a hit with my group. Light wargames that are exciting to play with a lot of decision points. Best part is disagreements with your allies as to how the war should be prosecuted. With this 3p game the series has closed a loophole, as we had 4 (also good for 2) Victory or Death,5 WW1, 6 WW2. I do wish he had stuck with the chunky wood pieces of the original, WW2 edition and the smaller boxes.
Thanks for the review. I saw this at the UK Games Expo back in June and forgot about it until this morning when I saw it mentioned as being on Kickstarter, so I threw in my hat.
Chief you might be interested in the John Bachelor podcast. I listen to him on his radio broadcast but catch what I miss on the podcast. It is basically a political show, but even if you don't like his politics he does Historical book reviews. These are fantastic. During July 4th he had a series of American Civil War reviews, One of his Best was on the Crusades. Its like getting a history lesion 5 nights a week. He also did a review on Israel and I learned that during WWII Israel sent a delegation to Berlin for a deal between the Jews & Nazi's to fight the British. The deal wasn't made. But I thought it was extremely interesting. I love History and anyone who like history I strongly recommend listening at least to the reviews.
So you haven't played the core QMG? Seriously? :) My only wish is that they would've stepped-up the map graphics as the game series evolved. They're still a bit too cartoonish.
Seriously. My impression was it was like a euro-ish supply cube pusher. Move gas here, build roads or trucks move ammo men and tanks over here or there. I was way off in my assumptions.
Roger that. When I was in the Army the QM General made sure everyone had beans, bullets and water. When I first heard of the game I thought how did they make a game about that and figured it was Euro heavy.

I do love these simple war games with tough decisions. I’ve learned I’m not much of a war sim gamer.

It’s a very nice edition to the system.
Another great review, thanks!
Thanks James
Any game where you play The Gipper gets a 10/10 !
Roger that

You the man Dan!

I’ve heard of him but did not know the history part. Thanks again.
Weird question, do we know of any board games that are the style of “heroes of Normandy” but set in civil war?
Hmm. I don’t. There are a few company level ACW games but I don’t know of any squad or man to man level games.

Yeah, as you know, the game hinges on being able to keep your forces in supply... Hence the name of the original game.
