Honestly I also at first thought Douma’s feelings for Shinobu were love and hated that because it ruined his character but after reading about his backstory I kinda understand what the author was going for, Douma has never experienced human emotion his whole life and also hasn’t lived a life outside of his worshipping cult that pushes their sorrows onto him that not even he can comprehend so with no ability to understand any person’s feelings makes him an unreliable narrator for himself and for others. The feelings he was feeling for Shinobu were not love but was in fact fear. The author just executed it badly but that’s just my interpretation 🤷♀️
For those who want to know, the correct fast-forward time, 1.75x is a bit more accurate than 2x(The best way I could test which one was better was when Shinobu's poison and lack of strength was revealed)
