Great stuff!
Hi, David. Thanks for taking the time to showcase this excellent boxset of important British films from the BFI. Normally, I might pick up a title like this from Orbit, but wound up purchasing it through rarewaves for $20 less than Orbit's price. At some point, I'm thinking I may want to add the Criterion edition of Tom Jones. I had already bought The Knack... film from Kino. Enjoying your channel.
Thanks for the comment, Mike! I’m glad you were able to get a great deal on the set. I’m really grateful for the work the BFI is doing. I’m discovering some real gems. My most recent discovery is “Enys Men” which was quite excellent. I’m looking forward to watching that one again very soon, and diving in on some supplements/essays, etc. Have a wonderful day! :)
That set looks very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Rita Tushingham also starred in The Leather Boys, which got a great Blu-ray release from AGFA not that long ago. Maybe that's where you recognize the name from?
You are very welcome! I need to look into The Leather Boys. I’m not aware of that film. And I looked into Rita’s filmography. Nothing was really ringing a bell. So I may have just been mistaken on my having seen her in anything else. At any rate, I’m excited to watch a couple of her films in this set! Thanks for the comment! :)
Yesterday Dave I've done a triple feature of episodes with the name the day the earth
Starting with angry beavers the day the earth got screwed up
Then Johnny bravo the day the earth didn't move around very much
And finally with Ed edd and eddy the day the Ed stood still
It was a blast
5 of the 8 films are by Tony Richardson. It's essentially a Richardson boxset with 3 more films thrown in.
Pronunciation: Tushingham, rhymes with hush. Karel, pronounced Ka-rell. Shelagh Delaney, pronounced llike Sheila.
Thanks for the info and for the pronunciations! :)
