When looking for new pants look for "inseam leg zippers" two brands in the US that have them are Icon and Joe Rocket. Pants such as the Joe Rocket Phoenix Ion Pants and Icon Contra 2 Leather Overpants.
Well done for the subscribers. I came across you because I’m hopefully start to do what your doing.. Not the videos. But just the green lanes. Don’t know where I’m able to go but now I have an idea.. Great videos. Keep up the good work 👍
If you were in the market for new bike gear for commuting I wear the BMW coverall. It is fully laminated abrasion proof suit with armour. It is expensive at about £500 but the good thing is you wear it over your normal clothes so when you get to work just take off and your ready. It does have zips all the way up the legs so easy to get off. In winter you can wear warm clothing underneath summer shorts and t shirt if you want. I’ve worn it through a week of torrential rain on a highland trip and never had a drop of water through anywhere. It sounds a lot but when you consider separate jacket and trousers will cost about the same, or much more for laminated gear.
Hello brother i just found your channel.. I also got cb500x (2016) and i love your videos, you gave too many ideas for mod and upgrades. Thank you.. :)
Hey Robert, last year during the pandemic I had a reshuffle of a few things in life. Part of that included selling the bike unfortunately to support purchasing a property. Who knows in the future though. Thank you for your support.
Curiosity: with so many underlayers, do you usually buy your gear a size up? If so, doesn't it look baggy when you don't have all the layers underneath? And doesn't the armor shift to different places where it might not do its job properly?
I’ll usually wear at least a T-shirt and jumper. Jacket fits well over those. The puffer jacket does fill the remaining space and works well, it’s a little more restrictive though but acceptably comfortable. I can fit if absolutely needed another layer if it’s freezing outside but that is a tight fit. If I only have the T-shirt and jacket with no internal jacket layers yes it can be a little looser, however this year that was only 1-2 days and the armour doesn’t move that much anyway. The pants I don’t think I’ve ever taken out the rain layer, works well with a pair of trousers underneath and if it’s cold I can fit a thicker pair of trousers under with no issues. Really the jacket and pants are an all conditions solution. Is it the best in all situations? No. There’s always a compromise unless I extend my wardrobe of riding gear.
