So happy I stumbled upon your channel. My best friend in high school was from Kenya. Her family would throw these big parties where everyone brought a traditional dish. I can't recall trying anything I didn't absolutely love. These mandazis with some milk tea were always my favorite snack when I would sleep over. SO grateful for her friendship, and her family for welcoming me into their home and giving me a taste of their culture. Thank you so much for sharing, much love.
Quick one to say that I will be trying these out today after I get some yeast. I made your chocolate cake and it was a HUGE HIT!! Asante for your recipes. You are the kind of cook I like. Quick, short and easy steps and the fact that most times I have all the ingredients in my house. I keep coming back to your channel. Asante sana dada.
Just made Mandazi following your instructions to a T. Turned out awesome! Thanks a lot. Had tried different recipes 3 or 4 times, before, and it was hit and miss kind of thing. But I think that had mostly to do with old instant yeast. Bought fresh yeast as well as baking powder, and the Mandazis turned out amazing, using your instructions. this will be my final recipe....no need to try any others. again....Ahsante Sana. You made my day.
So three days ago I googled how to make the easiest Mandazi and I got this recipe online... Today I decided to look for Swahili Food on You Tube cz I love watching video recipes as I work and trust me you didn't disappoint me at all. This or these mandazi have been by far the softest mandazi I have ever made my entire life.... guys this is so nice they are crunchy on the top yet soft on the inside am so proud of myself... my family is gonna enjoy these when they wake up😊😊. ❤❤❤ Thank you for this recipe ... You got yourself 1 more sub.❤❤Love from UGANDA ❤
TBH... I'm in my kitchen at the moment and frying this Mandazi and THIS RECIPE IS PERFECT. First time making them and it tastes better then the once they sell in Kenya 😍😍❤️ Asenta Sana ❤️❤️❤️
Vernessa vernessa… this recipe made me a happy person today ! = happy people , happy children, = happy mother! Thank you !! Now I can happily say ;with lots confidence I know how to make mandazis 😊. I’m always learning something from you . Cheers !
I ate these in Kenya on a missions trip just a few weeks ago, these are my favorite ''donuts'' I plan on making some when I gather with family to show pictures! 😊
Remember the first time i checked out your video and followed your exact steps on this recepie, let me just say that i have never made my mandazi on another way stil til this day!!
I love your videos not only because the recipes are awesome but they are short enough to Understand all the steps and your lovely voice is so soothing too. Keep It up V!!!!
Thank you so much for this receipe. I made the best maandazi’s ever. Been trying different recipes during the lockdown yours was the best really delicious thanks once again
Omg!! They are so adorable!!!! In India we have something similar, but we just add mashed up banana (usually the overripe ones, that you can't eat anymore) and Carom seeds while making the dough. It is absolutely delicious, just like Mandazi
Hi I am Malay from Malaysia..my mother use to make for us this "kueh" but we do not know the name...i was looking in you tube for this recipie but cannot find the one similar as what i use to eat. I saw David Rocco's in Africa Tv programme and I sawthe chef cook this...exactly the texture as what i used to eat last time. Anyway i will try yours when I am free. Tq.
The only place I had half cake was in Tanzania when I was a kid and after all these years to now find this recipe is awesome. Mandazi and half cakes are what I am going to make now. Thanks for the recipe .
It could be a number if things. One the dough was too wet. This can happen with different flours. How was the dough consistency? Also, oil temp, it shouldn’t be too hot
Vanessa Mehri i used all purpose flour and the consistency I think was okay. I could roll it without adding too dry flour while rolling and I am not on instagram. Could it be that I put too much yeast?. Thanks very much for your replies. Much appreciated.
Swahili Food all the ones I tried were hard and chewy, and then they don’t add butter or eggs which work wonders. Still enjoying the ones I made the other day. Me being a guy, can’t wait to brag to my sister in-laws. Btw, I learned something valuable, don’t despise the view counts. Those with less have the best stuff.

How did it go???
Vanessa Mehri 😢 Most of them( mandazis) split when they were being fried. Where did I go wrong?
It could be a number if things. One the dough was too wet. This can happen with different flours. How was the dough consistency? Also, oil temp, it shouldn’t be too hot
If you’re on Instagram please message me on there and we can brain storm it together so you can finally have a good plate of half cake

We make it thinner here in Oman and we call it lowllah but still mandazi is the famous name of course and we eat it with milked tea or with cheese or Honey
Thanks dear Friend for your share
In Kenya, the Mandazi is thick and mahamri are thin and airy inside. Both are excellent with karak ☺️☺️
Love your tutorials.. The harder version of mandazi inaitwa kangumuu ama KDF😄

How many peaces does that make??
Lovely mandazi could I make them without egg? Would love to know
You could but you need to add more liquid for them to be soft
Thanks
3 cup equals how many grams.
Very nutritious
Wow nice
Thank you
Chelsea from Rwanda. Thanks for the recipe.
Hiii 👋🏼 welcome!💕
This is awesome. If I want to bake a large batch, can I just double or triple the ingredients?
Just check that the dough consistency is ok, not too wet not too dry
Thanks to u sister👍👍
Anytime my brother
How long shud u cover for it to rise. new sub 😘
forgive me but is that saucepan just oil? what is the liquid specifically in that saucepan at the end?
Hi 👋🏼 it’s cooking oil. Clean cooking oil ☺️
woow nice to eat
Very soft and nice
Can baking powder substitute yeast in the recipe? Now that I’m working from home, I’m excited to try your recipes.
I use a deep fryer, what temperature would you recommend?
I’d say around 185-190°c
Can you make baked mandazi?
Looks yummy! If I am to bake them what temperature would you recommend for the oven?
Hi, I recommend 180°c ☺️
Can one freeze some of the dough? I think I made a bit too much!
Yes you can
If you roll the dough out a bit thinner than that, you can fry them less time to achieve a less brown color
Thank u
🤗
