i'm new to rally. Can someone explain what happens if you get a puncture or you need to repair the car DURING a stage, does the timer still tick when you're repairing your car or do you have a certain amount of time that you can use freely for repairs (not talking about services after the stage). I don't understand how Neuville was only 10 minutes behind first place with those huge repairs on track whilst Rovanpera had zero issues. Was Neuville just racing faster and made the time back or what? Sry for the rant.
Welcome! Yes the timer still ticks along until you cross the flying finish. Neuville was able to repair his car on the liaison section between stages, where you have a certain amount of time to travel. He was able to repair his car and still stay within this time.
@mortarjack8456 each car has a set amount of time to travel from a stage start, do the stage and then drive to the next stage start (or service). Only the time within the stage is what counts.
If they reach the next point late they get a 10s penalty per minute late. And can be a maximum of 30 minutes late (combined) during one day.
So if they can get the car out of the stage, they can repair it themselves on the road to be able to continue (and there are various regulations about this).
