I like seeing DIY videos but also nice to see lots parts ready to go in. Can't wait to see it back on the track. You guys building your cars gives me ideas on what to do on my car. Keep up the good work. Your videos is the only thing I like about Monday's.
Hey guys....I really like your videos I've been subscribed on your channel for 5 months...I like your projects very much and do a lot of nice work on the civic ek project and the project eg ... I am from Greece and I am sincerely glad I have become a member on your channel on youtube and your facebook page....on the basis of your projects I started and I have my own civic ek hatchbach facelift project with b16a2 engine ... 😉😉
Ok Rob the tps might be working but it needs to be adjusted. It reads 0 to 5 volts. Stock tps sensors usually are riveted in and when going with aftermarket tps they have play in them that you have to adjust to read the 0 idle to 5 wot (wide open throttle). Also check the distributor cap and make sure the terminals are not corroded. You'll get it up and going. When I adjust the tps on a obd0 you have no way to check reference voltage so you have to play with it. I usually have it slightly loose with the car on and slowly turn the tps till you fell a little tension. That should be 0, if you go past it the car will start to idle up. Give that a shot and see how it goes.
Thanks man, I’ll look. The map sensor wires are actually run a separate way through the firewall from a previous job though so I know it’s on the map sensor and not the tps. I am starting to wonder if the map is wired up to the right locations on this new p28 ecu though
Jon widner is the go to 4 me! Been subscribed to him since b4 he was garage built Hondas he definitely knows what's up! Great channel! Great dude! Great content!! Check him out for some great uploads! Definitely respect what that man's doing!! 👌👊👍👍👍👍✌
Moving forward at speed now :). I loved how my EG handled with all updated suspension components. Mine handles so much better then alot of cars at the track. Just have to rebuild my B16a2 after it cooked itself at the last track day. I have to put it off as I currently dont have a house :P, but it will be built in the coming months. So hopefully we will both be out on track soon. Congrats on the new car for the missus, mine got a brand new HR-V a couple of weeks ago too :P
Glad to hear your car handled so well Alex but dang dude, I guess no engine is safe on track getting that abuse huh. Sorry to hear about it. One track day on the engine and it went huh? But thanks dude, my wife loves the Fit, how do you like the HRV? From what I understand the interior between the Fit and the HRV is shared
Yeah it was 36 degrees (97 over there lol) on the day and the radiator failed. Have a new engine coming on Friday and placing orders for a couple of cooling parts so we dont have this issue again. It was a lot of money for 5 sessions but this is track day life. Live and learn. We managed to improve the lap times by almost 4 seconds so positives. I like the interior, its not bad. I dont like the power and gearbox only because my daily is an Australian wagon version of your Chevy SS lol. But it does everything you need a smaller car to do.
makes me want to buy parts for my car and get back in the garage. i finally got off jack stands and started driving it again. look forward to the installs
Man, even with just the sohc powerplant, it'll feel like a new car with all the steering and suspension upgrades. Can't wait to see how it performs once you get the spark issue resolved
Thanks Ted. I’m looking forward to that man, I really am. Just getting rid of the slop in the steering. Then with the coilovers and all these other bits, whew. Should be a whole new car then
Need to get a Z6 harness and it Will probably help a lot. Also not a mechanic here. I got a Z6 harness with a Y8 motor and everything works great. I recommend that, but only because it worked for me, oh I also used my D15B7 distributor.
Its me daniel from celaya Guanajuato mex nice new car honda fit we build them here in the. Honda plant in celaya iam Project leader for new model fit .this made my day seeing your wifes new car .well you took a long time buddy .i was wating to see updates on the eg .i want to see that car run so bad .
I have the same problem, i have a ek coupe and i did a d16z6 swap and it wants to turn on but for some reason it doesn't, it has a y8 distributor, i just bought the z6 distributor but im still running the obd2 ecu, if someone can give me a helping hand on what to do it would be great, hope we see that eg running soon
I Personally did a successful 94OBD1 D16z6 swap into a 97 OBD2 Civic cx hatch that had the y7 engine for my experience and although the Y8 motor is a little different, i think you are better off using the y8 original injectors, i believe that they are higher CC’s than the b7, or using the d16z6 since they are plug and play on the b7 harness. Your engine might be struggling to get fuel, also you should use the y8 fuel rail, use the y8 OBD2 distributor with a conversion, if you can use the y8 Intake as well and not the b7, i know it has something to do with vacuum ports, i can’t remember why lol You will have to convert the IAV sensor to a 2 wire. Please let us know what codes are showing currently, because id we don’t know then we wont be able to correctly identify de cause and we will just be yelling out random stuff. (I’m currently swapping a d16z6 into a 92 Eg Hatch) if it was a d16z6 i would have shared my knowledge and what i had to do in my cars, i personally don’t preferred to swap y8 in obd1 cars, because of all the different plugs that you do not need and such, I personally preferred to use a d16z6 because they came stock in EG’s and are plug and play.
I appreciate your info man and good job getting those swaps done yourself, very cool. The injectors and intake manifold on my car are both from a d16z6, not from a b7. So from what I understand, the z6 injectors have the same or similar flow rate as a y8 does. The y8 intake manifold would be good but it’s more work at the moment that I’m fine with not doing. The z6 manifold will work just fine and it keeps everything obd1. I agree the y8 is a pain in the butt for the obd1 car and I’d prefer to have a z6 in here as well. More plug and play. That’s what I was going for initially until that longblock ended up being bad, I should’ve held out to find another z6. But here we are now so I’m going to try to make this one work. Thanks man
I'm having the same bogging issue with one of my civic's too. It also has the D16Y8. Somebody once told me it might be the MAP sensor (?). Hope you find the issue soon.
I did a D16y8 swap with my obd1 harness and just used a jumper harness for the distributor, at first it ran like crap replaced coil, cap, rotor, and ignitor still no good, then I just bought a new dizzy and boom car runs fine now
I don’t believe it’s that because the map is actually wired straight to the ecu from a previous job we had done. But I am wondering if all the wiring is going to the right place on the new ecu. Thanks man
Might be a dumb question but have you checked your plugs? My car melts down a plug after a hot day and last session on a track day. You could be having a bad plug. It could be firing good at idle and high rpm wot. But it will bog a little at low rpm climb to around 3k. Also if the Motor has been sitting for a really long time. You might need to free up a valve. They tend to get stuck from being shipped here in container. You bring each cyclinder tdc and use a hammer to hit the intake valves. I’m sure if you go to a Jdm imported they can show you.
And when you get that eg back on the road, get that thing an alignment quick, when you get all of those goodies on your civic, it's going to eat your tread up.
What check engine code is your car thowing? Instead of randomly replacing parts, find out what the code is, then you will be able to have a direction to go in.
My map sensor is actually wired through the firewall straight to the ecu. So I am 100% positive that it is plugged up to the map sensor and not the tps.
I’ve never tried either brand so it was pretty much a case of pick on and try it. I’ll be putting them on so we will see how they hold up with track use
Dude on your previous video i saw you using the y7 injectors, but you have to use the y8 injectors, i know this because i did the same thing, trust me it will work
I’d rather use the obd1 distributor that’s what I did. If youre gonna use a jumper harness anywhere I’d only run one at the ecu for an ek civic to run an obd1 ecu with a Hondata. Thad’s it. Make sure sensors are plugged into correct spots near intake manifold. Other than that check inside the distributor.
You're not getting spark correctly somewhere it sounds.. commenting as I'm watching so maybe you figure it out by the end of the video lol if so I'll delete
I'd go after wires and plugs next see how they look, if the P28 doesn't have a tune on it, that could be a thing. Either way best of luck brother keep on pumpin these great videos out!
Love seeing the community help each other grow!
I like seeing DIY videos but also nice to see lots parts ready to go in. Can't wait to see it back on the track. You guys building your cars gives me ideas on what to do on my car. Keep up the good work. Your videos is the only thing I like about Monday's.
Haven’t watched your videos in a while, sold my EJ8 bought a brand new accord but man your videos put me in a good mood for some reason
Yeah man that's pretty dope I'm glad you're getting that car up and going again

SI RICKO always trying!!!

congrats on the Fit! she is going to love it. I love mine so much, keep the videos coming
Yo guys, thanks for the love!! I greatly appreciate the video spot, now let's get this EG up and running hard! 👍
Absolutely Jon! Thanks a lot man, hope to be running sooner than later
Absolutely love this channel !
Sure appreciate your support man! Very cool. More to come
Try swapping the tps plug and the map sensor plug around. The plugs are identical and when swapped around it has that symptoms
Thanks man, I’ll look. The map sensor wires are actually run a separate way through the firewall from a previous job though so I know it’s on the map sensor and not the tps. I am starting to wonder if the map is wired up to the right locations on this new p28 ecu though
Save the SOHC! I know they’re slow but I think they’re so dope for daily drivers. 🔥
sk8erdude3216 They’re great to practice on for newer Honda enthusiasts. Still running a D16Y8 myself 😁
I was a bmw guy got into Honda’s now I’m kind of a Honda guy great cars!
I agree, b series is really reliable! Zosh and Steven Ocasio run boosted b20's and are getting great reliability.
Jon widner is the go to 4 me! Been subscribed to him since b4 he was garage built Hondas he definitely knows what's up! Great channel! Great dude! Great content!! Check him out for some great uploads! Definitely respect what that man's doing!! 👌👊👍👍👍👍✌

Coming together nicely bud.
Having my own woes my y7 started knocking last Saturday! No bueno!!
Oh no man! That sound is stuff of nightmares
Did you use the wiring harness for a 92-95 civic ex? If not you should try that.
Check your TDC too (top dead center) on the crank and block.
Good to see the eg again. Love your videos.✌❤
makes me want to buy parts for my car and get back in the garage. i finally got off jack stands and started driving it again. look forward to the installs
Oh nice Mark! Glad to hear you got to driving yours agai . The Subaru right? New parts are nice haha
yup good memory, now just to think what i want to do next.... bushings lots of bushings
LOVE this proyect is like mine except mine will be turbo thanks for your vídeos like always from Spain!
Have u tried switchn your iac plig and map sensor plug around usally thats the issue

Garage Built Honda’s (Jon) is the SHIT!! Been watching his channel for 2 yrs. He’s Honda O.G. Like me.
Need to get a Z6 harness and it Will probably help a lot. Also not a mechanic here. I got a Z6 harness with a Y8 motor and everything works great. I recommend that, but only because it worked for me, oh I also used my D15B7 distributor.

Bleed your radiator, check your spark plug wires from the distributor, the 1234 position is different from obd1, vs obd2
Thanks man. I’ll be checking these things. Radiator was bled and refilled already
1 check coil
2 put a timing light and ensure it is correct

Hey try checking ur spark gap or plugs and wires if not check the cylinders or injector fuel regulator
I'm having the same bogging issue with one of my civic's too. It also has the D16Y8. Somebody once told me it might be the MAP sensor (?). Hope you find the issue soon.
You have the website where I can get those ngk spark plugs wires for my d16y8?
You can check with rhdperformance.co.uk/ to see if they stock them. Otherwise just check your local auto parts dealers website
Retry obd2a dizzy but make sure the dizzy is align properly with top dead center with block.
Ok thanks man, I’ll be looking into it!
I did a D16y8 swap with my obd1 harness and just used a jumper harness for the distributor, at first it ran like crap replaced coil, cap, rotor, and ignitor still no good, then I just bought a new dizzy and boom car runs fine now
Shout out to Jon.. he's the man!! #GBH
Tommy Kim thanks Tommy!
Keep it up love the content
Thanks a lot, very nice
Ignition control module in the dizzy, switch it out 😉
I appreciate it man. We actually just solved the issue this past weekend. It surprised us what it ended up being. That video comes out in a few hours
That's awesome! 😁
Try swapping the tps sensor around with the other one on the bottom. I had that issue before.
Swap the plugs around
I don’t believe it’s that because the map is actually wired straight to the ecu from a previous job we had done. But I am wondering if all the wiring is going to the right place on the new ecu. Thanks man
Hello i see you from Spain i hope things go better you are doing a great job i love that car
I think ignition related most likely distributer. Try a friends and see if it fixes.

plugs, wires. I was getting low end stuttering as well and it turned out to be my wires. They are a maintenance item, even the blue ones.
And when you get that eg back on the road, get that thing an alignment quick, when you get all of those goodies on your civic, it's going to eat your tread up.
Yep, I know it. Thanks Arthell!
Welcome back 💯💪
Map sensor plug and tps sensor plug might be switched
What check engine code is your car thowing? Instead of randomly replacing parts, find out what the code is, then you will be able to have a direction to go in.
It’s the heated oxygen sensor heater which I have replaced the o2 sensor. No other codes
My first car was a 1992 Civic LX Sedan.. Miss that old girl 😭
Same thing was happening to my y8 check The distributor rotor
dude can you help me to improve my honda civic eg4 vtec to make her fuel efficient?
Don't know if you installed them yet, but it O'Reilly rents out the tie rod tool. Autozone doesn't have the tool.
Ok thanks for the info. Haven’t installed them yet, no. Likely getting into it this coming weekend. Thanks man
You have a sensor on the manifold switched there is 2 whit the same type plug swap them and you should be ready to rage! How do I get a shout out
By not begging for one
Com Truise how is inquiring? begging dip shit?
Yea me and a buddy just did a y8 swap and ran into the same issue. Switch the two plugs, and it revs smoothly. 👍
Terrel Pickens Yeah it’s kinda nooob Honda mistake THAT WE ALL MAKE but it’s kool tho cuz we have all been there
My map sensor is actually wired through the firewall straight to the ecu. So I am 100% positive that it is plugged up to the map sensor and not the tps.
What ECU are you using? Make you sure you are using the correct one could be the reason why you are sputtering.
You should get your p28 ECU chipped with a y8 fuel map
I am using the p28 ecu although it is stock at the moment
why hard racing over k-tuned?
I’ve never tried either brand so it was pretty much a case of pick on and try it. I’ll be putting them on so we will see how they hold up with track use
Could be your ignition system. Either plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Just diagnose and mark things down
Dude on your previous video i saw you using the y7 injectors, but you have to use the y8 injectors, i know this because i did the same thing, trust me it will work
Are you running a Y8 ECU?
It’s a p28 ecu
Check map sensor and throttle sensor
My man @gbh .. ef god
Wouldn't be surprised if you just bought repackaged Moog products with an increased price. They are just "factory replacements".
Maybe your eg is asking for a B series
Sounds like a fuel pump and a pressure regulator.
Check your spark plugs
I had the same issue with my b16b and it turned out the spark plugs had a big gap
Ok thanks, I’ll double check them. They are new and we checked them before putting them in the first time
I just want to see the red hatch lol
Lol I would mod the crap out of that fit
Check timing
You're not getting spark correctly somewhere it sounds.. commenting as I'm watching so maybe you figure it out by the end of the video lol if so I'll delete
I'd go after wires and plugs next see how they look, if the P28 doesn't have a tune on it, that could be a thing. Either way best of luck brother keep on pumpin these great videos out!
Hello leo Messi!
Tony Badivuk lol Leo Messi? Why? Haha the GOAT
Maybe your eg is asking for a B series
Hah, one day we’ll get another letter power plant in here
