Madness were a top UK group of the 80s ....... and still going ! During their heyday they had 15 top 10 singles and spent over 4 years in the charts during the 80s.

''night boat to cairo'' is one of their best songs as well, also 'my girl' and of course' one step beyond

Very nostalgic band and track here in the uk.
You may recognise suggs voice from the spoken word section of Piccadilly
Palare by Morrissey. Actually morrissey's "your the one for me fatty" was also about a member of madness.
    Nice one.

Fast Madness track from the same album, On the Beat Pete, love that one. The music video should be watched, it's a classic. Loved the reaction, you totally got it.

Excellent! I remenber watching Madness in a festival when they were possibly in their 60's. Adele was head lining and she was terrified of the stage wet n muddy slopes but the saxophinist of Madness had no bother despite his age - I mention this because Adele mentioned it at the time. I enjoyed this reaction

I was in the boat, being in the naughty class in school. We went through 6 or 7 French teachers in 3 years and that just for the French class. Don't know how many times I seen teachers cry. Crazy times

May I suggest House Of Fun as the next Madness reaction?

The BELL sound at the start is a fire extinguisher, metal case, hit with drum sticks.

Madness were one of the two tone ska bands from my school days that made it much more fun than it otherwise would have been. I've seen them play many times down the years. The first time was the famous Finsbury Park first reunion gig in 1992 where the number of fans dancing registered with a seismology centre as being an earthquake. Best outdoor gig ever.
They are still playing and have a new album out soon. They may not be as physically active onstage as they once were but neither are we fans...
Easily the most fun band ever, you will have lots of joy discovering their music. So many tunes to recommend but my personal standout has to be Night Boat to Cairo. You could chop off all of my limbs and that one would still make me dance!

Was the Finsbury Park gig the one where Morrissey appeared?

@@jonathancole833 It was. I was a huge Smiths fan but never really took to his solo stuff, but was still keen to see him as he hadn't yet come out as a member of the far right politically. I remember enjoying one song he performed before flouncing off. I was bemused afterwards at reports that he was abused by the crowd. Unless you count the rudeness of him being largely ignored by the audience then i didn't witness anything untoward.

@@MrTumshie I was there too....like Gallon Drunk, Moz and the band had coins thrown at them. Mods and rockers....never goes well. I'd take issue with Moz being far-right. I really doubt he sees himself as such, regardless of what others think.

Yep, school in theses days was a bit tribal and definitely the attitude was ‘well if you’re not clever… tough! Join the scrap heap’ my missus is a teacher so I know it’s changed a lot now - doubt you’ll see teachers going to the pub at lunchtime! Great tune… madness and bad manners were the Ska fun bands

If this doesnt make you feel like you went to school in Britain, I guess the Headmaster Ritual will.

Nick, if you like ska/Two Tone pop, have you listened to The Beat sometimes referred to as The.Englsh Beat across the pond? Would thoroughly recommend Hands off She's Mine, Mirror in the Bathroom and cover of Tears of a Clown from their first album.

Good suggestion ! Great band (I saw them live in 81 opening for The Clash). I'll add one of the other 2 Tone bands, The Selecter with their tracks "On My Radio" and "Three Minute Hero".

I love that you react to the great Brit bands of the 80’s & 90’s, this stuff usually flys over the heads so many American reactors.
Madness were the first band I truly fell in love with (as a teenager). Cardiac Arrest is another brilliant Madness song.
Also my friend, the Oasis concert @ Knebworth Park was pretty impressive , they played to 500,000 people (over two nights) in July 96. They were riding the crest of a wave (at that time). “Cast No Shadow” is one of the best performances from one of those days. Please react (if possible). ua-cam.com/video/h_a_OFXw_kw/v-deo.html
    Thanks 🙏🏻
