You might be surprised. The ship is so big it doesn't seem crowded in most places. The worst place is the pool area, the pools are not as big as needed for good reasons. Book one of the suites and you have several areas, like a restaurant, just for you and other suite guests.
Visit Cornalheira, arguably Portugal’s most depopulated hamlet.

Yes, it is required by regulations to have 37.5% of maximum passenger and crew capacity in lifeboats on each side of the ship. That’s makes around 75% in lifeboats, the other 25% is required in life rafts or inflatable / rigid rafts.
So yes she will have enough lifeboats and there is no need to worry!

And so the question you have to ask yourself is, do you really want to be in a space of 1100 feet by 138 feet by 200 feet with almost 8000 other people? Not the experience that I'm looking for.

Royal Caribbean has a class right below the oasis class with a similar design to the icon. There are currently 5 ships in that class; the first one debuted in 2009. Also, technology has had a lot of advancement over the span of 100 years. These ships rarely ever have problems.

Titanic event was proven to be caused by a fire that got out of control below. Hundreds of men were responsible for shoveling coal in furnaces to power it. Before it left the dock, a crack in the hull was ignored. It was hidden history to "save face" of the owner who insisted it be launched as planned. Boasting about this vessel was bedded in Pride at a great cost of negligence.

No matter how advanced and well equipped the modern liners are, nothing can ever beat the magnificence and opulence of the Titanic, she remains the Queen of the Atlantic, even though she’s on its ocean floor. Her name is a history…..forever.
Those were the days when the craftsmanship of the outfitting was done largely by hand.

I hate to be THAT guy, but technically one could argue that the real Titanic 2 was actually her younger sister ship Britannic, which was converted into a hospital ship during WWI, but was then sunk by a mine during the war. Yeah, let’s just say the Olympic class of ocean liners was pretty cursed, with two of the three ships being sunk!😂

Enough for all but they are tight. But these ships don't sail far from land except for the occasional relocation cruise but I don't know if the ICON class will have those.

I worked for this company in the 90s as a Refrigination Enginer assistant, the biggest ship I was on had approx. 2700/1400 people onboard and 11 decks I believe it was. (Vision of the Seas) It was like working in a big hotel
