Hey, guys. Something I forgot to make clear in the video that commenters
have pointed out is that the rollback netcode isn't actually coming
until the Summer. While I still think this release is definitely worth your time right now, this is something I wanted to make more clear.
Bruh, I get you mostly had fun with the game, but did you have to smoke Nam like that. At 5:53 mainly.
One other thing to point out is actually there is a reason only the ps4 has Lobby mode, this was the case with the original release as well. Only the playstation had lobby mode whereas the 360 version didn't.

Just a heads-up for everyone, if the game crashes when you enter Arcade or Training, change it from Fullscreen to Borderless
Important thing to note, rollback isn't in the game right now. It'll be added in the summer via a patch to the Steam and PS4 versions, but until then the game runs on delay-based netcode, where your buttons are delayed a certain number of frames depending on your connection with your opponent to minimize desync. If you're looking to play this game online, you might wanna wait to buy it until that new patch.

@@Heartache2491 If you're more interested in the single player than the online, the Switch version is still pretty good. If you *are* planning on playing online a lot though, it'll be a bit harder to find good matches.

To Sum up the story layout in the Arena games, think of Arena as Sonic Adventure 1 and Arena Ultimax as Sonic Adventure 2

It's also worth mentioning that the manga adaptation, and general conscencus from what I've seen, is that it's the only game in the P4 canon where Yosuke is more of a protagonist than Yu, which created a fun reading experience, even the manga was pretty good. And Labrys and Yosuke have a good dynamic. (At least in the original Arena not Ultimax who reestablishes Yu and, that guy, as the two main figures of the P4 story.)
It's a crime Yosuke doesn't interact that much with Adachi though, even in crosstag.
This was one of the most fun fighting games of the early 2010’s. So I’m just happy people can actually play it on modern consoles now and the online community won’t be dead.
At first I didn't care about the release of P4U since I don't play fighting games, but now I have an appreciation for this game after learning about the history behind it. Had no idea this was released really late in the PS3's/XBOX 360's lifespan. Glad to see this game getting a redemption arc
Redemption? More like reintroduction, if you ask me. It's a gem, and this is to convince people that it exists, and it's better than ever!
I imagine people who got into the series from P4 being on PC are going to have such difficulty with this game's narrative due to it having such a P3-centric story to it (in addition to 4's). I really wish Atlus ported 3 to the PS4/5, PC, and Switch so newbies can play 3, know the story/characters, then play this and it can act as a legit sequel to the newbies and they can have full context. (edit) Well, wish granted. I should do out loud wishing more often!
I basically only know the outline of P3's plot, but I thought that Ultimax explained everything well enough that actually playing P3 wasn't necessary. Others may disagree, of course.
@@gyppygirl2021 I get your point but in my opinion p3 has the best persona story and you really are missing out if you don't play it. There is also the movies which I do recommend as they do just summarize the story, but there is some extra things added or changed for the sake of the movie

Short answer: yes
Long answer: it’s a really good game, despite being a sequel to a spinoff. It really is fun to play, but it may take some time for beginners to adapt the game. I assure you will not regret your decision if you purchase this game and play it. Yes, it is worth buying and playing this game. Also unless you are buying the switch version, you will have the rollback netcode as well, which makes online matches as smooth as possible, making it even more fun, you will just have to wait a few months. Yes, it is worth to buy and play this game.
I love these games so far on pc. The only things I’d wish for would be cross plat play and maybe cross progression but that’s probably too much to ask lol
Another thing worth commenting, the version we got in the re-release was actually an arcade-only version known as Persona 4 Arena Ultimax 2.0, which balanced the characthers and changed how Shadow characthers worked, so this is not only an Ultimax re-release, but it's also the first time we people of the west will get a proper release of 2.0
21:53 it's actually 20 bucks through the Midnight Channel Collection bundle if you already own Persona 4 Golden on steam.

No, he wasn't because the data revealed it was next to Sho, which is why people thought he was the P5 hero in the next game. And the beta to P5 revealed that Joker's model looked nothing like Sho from P4U. So it was Atlus trolling.
On one hand i agree, but he's been in everything else so i don't think i'll miss him.

even if there's no rollback, this is legitimately one of my favourite ArcSys fighting games, if not just my favourite fighting game, clashing with BBCF, this was an insta-buy for me. The port is thankfully very clean despite a few small issues (like the opening being REALLY loud but the rest of the game being quiet). Soon enough, once rollback hits, I'm going to be so happy. I had a few matches the moment that the game dropped, and I've been loving it. If you loved Ultimax back years ago, this is so worth it. If you're on the fence about buying because you've never played it, this is probably one of the best games for casual players, period, with still enough depth to go competitive if you care about it. If you, for some reason, didn't like this game before, this rerelease isn't gonna change your mind. This is a great game for people who've never touched a fighting game, and a great game for people into the genre.
Gotta note that Rollback hasnt been implemented yet, it'll be avaible in a few months

Idk if this was on purpose but I love the hidden detail of goat/bull horns on unit #024 being a reference to the fact that shadow labrys' persona is asterius which is a goat/bull demon chained up (which itself was a reference on how she feels as if she was chained by the kirijo group to do these expirements) which is a manifestation of her feelings of regret towards unit #024
One bug I’ve encountered is severe FPS drops when certain moves are preformed, like miturus auto combo and yu’s burst. Not a huge problem but when your playing at whatever FPS the game runs at and then it drops to 20 or 30 frames for a few seconds, it can kinda be annoying
On PC, 3060 GPU and a decent PC. I’ve also heard people having issues where the game straight up crashes if they try network or arcade mode, on PC *AND* PS also
I’ve checked this, I have a GTX 2060 and the frames have been consistent for me (Checked with an afterburner to see frames per second). Only bug I’ve encountered is with trying to enter a player lobby while keeping all the settings as “any” makes the game crash. But it doesn’t happen if you change at least one setting (which you’ll want to change connection quality anyways so it doesn’t bug me)
Been hearing about this in the SMT & Persona Discord. Although, I haven’t played 4 or Golden yet, it’s on the list and am thinking of getting this afterwards. I love fighting games so a Persona fighting game sounds sick!

I'll be perfectly honest, I played through the story modes of these games a while back and wasn't a huge fan (I like the story itself, but I'm a slow reader so getting through it was a bit of a slog) and I'm not much of a fighting game guy so I never bothered with any of the other modes.
Having watched this, though (and hearing about some of the other single-player stuff)... I might give it another try. This is a genre I've always wanted to get into, but it's never quite "clicked" with me. If nothing else, this is a good sign for future ports of Atlus' back-catalogue.
Still disappointed that they didn't bother to release it on Xbox One even though the original released on 360, however I might still pick up the remaster

I got it on Switch and I'm enjoying it so far. I was considering buying it physically from Asia but not knowing if it's in English put me off. Wonder why they didn't release it physically in the West
Technically P5 Strikers didnt launch with any Day 1 bullshit either. Yeah you had small items like skill cards, but those are rather just cute bonuses rather than anything tangible like a playable character or outfit
I would be down for a brand new Persona 5 Arena. I think it would be as huge as Strive.
Man this game brings back so many memories when this came out. Though man it makes me wonder if P1+2 would ever get this kind of love and service.
A common issue on pc: Games just crashing when loading the select character screen. If you have this issue launch the game in borderless window instead of full screen.
Tbh I’m not a big fan of fighting games but I got this just because it’s a Persona game.

Shoutout to my friend that visited me during my 17th birthday and convinced me to run to GameStop to get this game for the 360
If you are a fan of the "modern" persona series, this is a must buy. Oc course it doesn't have as many characters as other fighting games, but oh my god it is so fun to play. You don't even have to be the expert fighting games person to enjoy it, as log as you know the fundamentals then you are set to go unless you want to get deeper and truly master it. And the best part? ITS ONLY 29.99 and a 60fps game on even the switch. Yu is a really good character to start off with, although its a granted because he is essentially the poster child of the persona 4 games.
Honestly 22 is pretty solid for an older ArcSys game and the shadow versions add enough extra variety for me. They remind me of EX characters from older Guilty Gear games except Shadows were actually balanced for competitive play and not tournament banned 😏

This runs decent on ps4 I use a lan cable with my connection and the delay lag is lethal. If you read this and watch his video before the summer rollback patch ;play the single players modes and local play unless your used to delay on fighters . Great game so far and will be better within the next 2-3 months

As someone who has played Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid on Switch, it kind of confuses me why they aren't gonna implement rollback netcode on the Switch version or crossplay.
I'm still unsure if I want this game. Not because I'm not interested but because I hate the fact that it's digital-only. To me, it's too expensive as they released it. I might pick it up when it's on sale. Or maybe I just get the PS3 version.
Get the Asian version and learn Japanese. Max profit.
Ypu can get a Japanese version from play-asia with English subs, it's pretty cheap compared to other games

I will never get tired of seeing aegis suplexing yu into the ring.
Some minor additions and omissions I noticed were the magazine and unreleased colors(25, 27, 28 {forgot which one but one of these never released anywhere}) were added. It also seems they did away with the fan service icons unless you unlock them in a special way.
I have been excited about this re release mainly because I never had a chance to play it before, since my first Persona experience was Persona 5
I just hope it has players, It annoys me to no end how little players there are in GG strive or in blazblue cf, dragon ball fighterz is kinda fine but it´s somewhat empty.

I played this before on a friend’s PS3 and now hopefully next week I’ll buy it.
I'm very happy that Persona and the broader SMT franchise are finally becoming multiplatform, but man there are some weird choices here. I understand that implementing rollback may not have been as doable on Switch (though a few games do have it), but making lobbies platform exclusive is... baffling? All I can think of is that Sony whined/threw money so they could have some exclusive feature.
Also, this is yet another in the bizarre trend of remastered Xbox 360 games that come out for PS4/Switch/PC and not Xbox One

If this game does well I kinda hope they make a game like it with P5 cast included, maybe a sequel to this one that brings all the characters together like in PQ2 but including characters from Persona 5 Royal… and maybe Strikers as a dlc thing?
Also Atlus is missing a golden opportunity to have Igor as a playable character in one of these spin off games… or at least have him appear in them since I don’t believe Igor has ever been in a Persona spin off game whatsoever

one thing i like is that they heavily debuffed one grab move kanji had you know the one where his persona backstabbs you and it takes off like half a health bar

6:42 Tbf in Arena, Yu is a Shoto character that has a bit of everything in his kit like most fighting game poster boys. In a way he is still the "jack-of-all-trades" character compared to Margaret or Elizabeth who have really strong Persona moves but have some of the worst physical moves in the game
I’m torn I can’t decide if I should get PS4 or switch I don’t care about role back but I don’t care about people playing this game and I feel like no one will play online in switch version but at the same time I worry that this game will be dead in 3 months on PS4
Idk if you got lucky or not Nyarly, but I read the Steam reviews and anybody not making Adachi memes is complaining about crashing, some InitRenderer bug or some other related technical issue.
Hoping that P5 Arena will be out in the next 3 years but yeah this game is solid the PC version is gonna be fun rollback will be added in like 3 months so wait till then

Some info about PC version:
- Windowed fullscreen is broken, it legitimately just goes in between my monitors with black bars.
- NOTHING IS UPRESD. The sprites, the art, the UI, is all what looks to be 720p, nothing matches the display resolution you set it as.
- The audio is awfully still compressed for no reason once again.
- Many report crashing at higher resolutions. I've not had any crashes but still something to keep in mind.
- No lobby system like the PS4 has for no reason.
- Icon prompts keep changing if you're using controller to keyboard and back to controller every second.
I thought Rollback Netcode wasn't out until the Summer of 2022. At least that's what the announcement I saw said.

It may just be my internet, but when I tried playing online my lag was so bad, I had to literally wait a couple seconds to move forward for a small distance

So from what I gathered from this (and as someone who played the xbox360 version without any dlc), that this is a very Nyarly game. :)
Too bad there’s no physical. Was gonna import the Asia or Japan region ones but they couldnt be bothered to put english on the disc or cart for either of those and usually Asia version releases have english cause import them all the time

Arena got me into p4 and 3, I was only associated with p5 before and now I’m waiting for the ports to play them

I wish the Arcsys PC games wouldn't alter the button icons every second.
A lot of people aren't able to play the PC port because of a "InitRenderer" error that crashes the game on startup and I am one of those people unfortunately

While playing it earlier every time I tried to do player match online the game crashed while ranked battle worked perfectly, I found it funny
It was sad to see searching for custom rooms hard crashed the game, hopefully a patch comes out ASAP.

I kind of wanna get this, but I feel like the inputs will be too difficult for me. I used to play smash, and I know it's not a fighting game, but it's the closest thing I have in terms of experience. I also suffer from hand pains.
I can't tell if the inputs are like normal fighting game inputs or not. Would you recommend this game to someone like me? :0 I've gotten some input on this, but I'm still just on the fence, and I'll admit, most make the Switch version seem. . . Kind of bad 🥺 so I'm not sure still.
This game isn't too combo heavy unless you use a shadow character, and most characters have very basic motion inputs. It might be a little tough at first, but I think Arena is a pretty solid fighter to start with especially if you're a Persona fan
During the story mode on pc, whenever a cutscene plays, it shows up in an "active movie" window, and not fullscreen like normal. Just a weird bug I noticed.
The rollback netcode isn't out yet btw, it'll be an update this summer. Thats prolly why you had lag

I trained a bit but I’m still unable to do a lot of things consistently so I have no chance online. Yet I’m having fun playing with bots.

Thanks Nyarly for recommending Aigis, she’s an amazing all around fighter and having a machine gun all the time is very nice. Also I have no idea why they keep calling Yu a wild card and yet he doesn’t wield different personas. I don’t get that.
Her name is spelled Aegis in the japanese version and Aigis in the dub for some reason.

I miss the years when the persona games were new and original: a take on the jrpg genre, made by passionate people.
I really enjoyed the 2 P4 games on ps3, but I do not plan to get them again.
So more Info about P4 Arena & Importantly Arc System Works (ASW) for those who are Curious...
1. The Gaming Company known as ASW, are mostly known for making 2D Anime Fighting Games.
The Most Popular are the Guilty Gear & Blazblue Series, primarily though of the Guilty Gear Series which is one of the oldest Games their Library...
2. As they grew as Gaming Company, ASW formed 2 Dev Teams.
Red Team in Charge of Guilty Gear & Blue Team with Blazblue.
However when it is required, both teams would work together.
3. Red Team have been in Charge with Games with Bigger Projects or in Change of Quality. The Examples are:
Guilty Gear Xrd Sign
Guilty Gear Xrd Rev/Rev 2
Dragon Ball FighterZ
Granblue Fantasy Versus
DNF Duel (as of this Comment's Post, it's coming Soon, lol)
Note: The Rest of the Past Guilty Gear Games were made before both Teams existed, however in this Case it's mostly under Red Team...
4. Blue Team are in Charge of making 2D Sprite based Fighting Games & other Special Spinoff Projects & at special times, collaborating with other Gaming Companies.

5. So in why both Arena Games' Story is structured as a Visual Novel is because as I mentioned, it was developed by Team Blue which means from some Gameplay, Story & Quality, P4 Arena copies some things Blazblue (& Past Guilty Gear Games before their Transition to 3D)...
6. For sure, the 1st Arena Game, each Character has their own Story in which may confuse 1st Timers but actually they are to be considered Canon however to also be considered as a Multiverse or Multiple/Alternate Timelines (Even the Manga), especially that this is Persona after all.
However, to have at least a Main Timeline though, the Stories that I would recommend to follow are:
1. Yu
2. Labrys
3. Elizabeth
4. Naoto
5. Mitsuru

Character Development.
That's because all the DLC is included.
for me its honestly not worth it. The game doesnt have rollback (for now), has denuvo even though its a 8 year old game (rip performance) and a lot of people cant even play, since apparently if you have a 2k monitor the game just refuses to open and crashes immediately. All of this for only 30 dollars! and considering how i live in a third world country this will end up costing five times that amount. Not worth it, not by a long shot, i might consider getting it if it fixes everything and gets rollback
If you like competitive fighting games, yes.
If you are a complete casual and just want cause it is persona, you may buy, but probally will cry in mommy lap since if you play against anyone who know well the game (isnt good, just know the mechanics) it will be almost a 2x0 for him

There's no rollback, Atlus spoke on this, rollback will be out in summer of 2022 is what they're saying.
