Hehhe, i got the afterglow, it's my primary gamepad.. love the back 'buttons'... does the afterglow have gyro? I got mine at a thrift store, never seen the instructions.
This is a very good controller. The rainbow effect is the biggest highlight. I was attracted by this appearance at first sight. Of course, the somatosensory assistance is also good, but I think there are some shortcomings. This is a wired controller with a type c interface , I can't understand. I think the wireless controller will be better, because I like to play games on the sofa.
Now I understand why the third party company that made this controller is called "BigBigWon". By itself, it kicks ass, but armed with its app, it conquers universes (and more)!
On PC I prefer wired, I don't like input lag and I also don't like charging/swapping batteries. From a couch perspective, I would prefer wireless so I don't trip over the cord and break my neck lol
Thank you for the long-awaited review. I had the idea to take it (when the ElitistS sold out), but in the end the discounts were decided for me and I took GuliKit King-Kong pro... Handsome! Sticks, ABXY buttons, triggers, everything is a complete delight, but... after I click-click-clicked the L1 and R1 buttons, put it in a nice place on the shelf and continued to play on my old 8Bitdo SF30 pro))))
Best controller innovation I ever saw was vents on the hand grips. I had a PS3 controller with 2 or 3 fan speeds and vents to keep my hands cool... I miss it. Something like the Logitech ChillStream.
Disco Controller :D A whole lot of functions in ONE controller. Nice! And i also like the transparent look. Very glossy, isn‘t it a fingerprint magnet?
It looks like an ok controller, but if I ever buy a wired controller for the switch, I'd buy the licensed ones because they have nintendo branded designs that look really sick. Nice review Russ
@@certifiedbruhmoment85 oh I agree about buying licensed controllers, I think it’s funny that this was a licensed xbox controller that somehow has been rebranded and doesn’t even work natively on an xbox
I missed this Russ! Seeing and hearing good things about this controller so I pulled the trigger today and ordered it. If it doesn’t work easily on the Xbox, I will return it. Everyone calls this a PC and switch controller, but look at the damn face buttons. This was intended for the Xbox. 🏆🦍🚀 This model you have looks older
As the owner and user of 3 of these controllers (formerly made BY PDP), I can guarantee with authority that the programable wheels in the back don't feel unnatural, nor unconfortable, takes very little time to get used to them, although is worth pointing out that they are not reliable as they would often register some incorrect imputs, not because they are old now but, right out of the box, not that it is a deal breaker though, the controller itself is pretty durable with some exceptions where the triggers might break (really, one of them snapped), which is a gamble, the quality of the buttons is really good, taking more than a simple beating and still standing, the D-pad is not bad and could get better as you use it, the d-pads are not good by default, you gotta work them until they are well trained and seasoned (something every reviewer and casual player fails to realize or perceive. It's been almost 5 years since i got mine and they are still kicking. Hi, are you referring to the PDP Afterglow? If so, this is an entirely different controller made by a different company. For example, the Afterglow is an officially licensed Xbox controller, whereas this one doesn't work on the Xbox at all. I can't compare it to the PDP controllers since I don't own those.
Well I think compared to the superior usb-c, micro usb is kind of shite. But these controllers its fine since the cord plugs into a a nice firm housing that fits nice and tight and doesnt wiggle around.
@@robmoye7373 yeah I’m not heartbroken about the micro USB connection since it’s a wired controller anyway, which is why I chose not to explicitly mention it but instead put a funny graphic instead.
Odd that you needed the R90 adapter to make the controller work on Batocera/EmuELEC/etc since Nintendo switch controllers work wired on those Game OSs and this controller works on a Switch and is seen as a pro controller... For that matter if the controller works with the R90 because it's seen as an xbox wired controller - those work on the various GameOSs out of the box too... Perhaps you should retest the controller without the R90 adapter on Batocera/EmuELEC/etc ?
Hi Eric, I spent several hours testing everything, I apologize if the video implied that I didn't. I had footage of me trying each of these without an adapter but chose to cut it out so as not to lengthen the video too much. The controller most definitely doesn't work with PS4, Batocera, or EmuELEC without an R90 adapter.
I know all the advertising and packaging for both the Rainbow controller and the R90 adapter excludes XBox One/X/S support. I know the Rainbow controller doesn't work by itself on XBox... But I'm still curious if there is "off-label" support with the R90 adapter on XBox? If you were able to test that? And if that doesn't work, is there *any* "Switch-to-XBox" adapter by another manufacturer that may be compatible with the Rainbow?
thanks a ton for the review! looks like an awesome controller, it's so unfortunate that it's so ugly tho, I could never get used to the rainbow puke :(
How did you turn off the orange LEDs that light on when you press RT LT I would like to turn them off but I don't know how to in the instruction manual didn't tell me or it could have and I'm just an idiot if you could please help me
It’s funny he keeps mentioning how it feels like an xbox controller when it literally is an xbox one pdp afterglow controller….wait after watching the whole thing, you need an adaptor to use this on xbox? How? Why? It was made for that purpose, unless they changed something internally which makes no sense, why would they leave the ABXY layout as an xbox controller when it’s more of a switch controller, I know they are marketing it as a PC controller, but I have a ton of controllers and most don’t natively work on the switch without an adapter
Surprisingly, this doesn’t work on an Xbox at all. It’s not officially licensed, which is necessary to work on that console. I assume the company didn’t want to pay that licensing fee, and went for PC/Switch compatibility instead.
@@RetroGameCorps yea it’s just strange, cause I have one of the afterglow controllers and they are without a doubt the same just rebranded, just curious what they did to make it different

Great work as usual! As for the macro, is this not meant to execute button combo's instead of replacing an individual button?
Sure, it can do either.
