If one guy messes up and wants to undo, you'd better hope nobody else does anything in that time. b.) you can undo individual actions in the middle of the sequence. This would mean backtracking the sequence, (un)doing something, then retracing the sequence up. It's also really jank to just undo placing a block that someone else has selected, then redo placing it again. I'd imagine it just deselects the block. But if at any point the editor requires that an object exists before doing something... assumptions will be broken and the game could become unstable until fixed. It's possible, but it'd be hella difficult. Most people should settle for streaming their parts to each other, and sending each other level files. You can't edit the same thing at the same time.

I guess the google doc comparison isn't really accurate, it would be more like a word document on a server that multiple people can edit but you need to reload it for other people's changes to show up
This would definitely be difficult to implement, but it would seriously be incredible if done properly. I hope rob hires a whole team if he wants to take on something like that; and I think it could be huge for the future of this game. It's longevity is clearly larger than I ever imagined (been playing since 1.5)
i feel like rob is going to cook up some community suggestions in 2.3, the icon kit feature is going to be very very nice, and im glad platformer is getting its own unique gamemodes!
robtop needs "save on exit" option for checkpoints whenever the player activates it, he or she can leave the level and go back into it and all their progress is saved. this is important for long levels and the new fnaf plus game the checkpoint will be purple and a prompt when activated will say "save data saved"
Highkey, just make that the default, then when you next click play, you're prompted to start from your checkpoint, or start from the beginning of the level.
One idea I think would be good is a object that replicates the player's current icon so level makers can easily animate the cube, ship or whatever as they please.

I once had an idea for a trigger for 2.3: the Swap Trigger. What it could do is basically input multiple groups into it and when it's activated, objects with those groups will swap properties (position, layer, color, opacity, the Extras from 2.2 etc.). It could also have a function where you can specify which group is gonna swap with which (e.g. You have 4 groups. You set 1 and 4 to swap positions and 2 and 3 to swap groups (like 3 is on a Move Trigger that is looping, so when they swap, 3 stops and 2 starts to move instead)).
My main worry for 2.3 is Robtop pulling another 2.2 and just stacking more and more things to add in one update and having it take too long. A lot of these sound really cool but I don't mind waiting for them to be added in like 2.4 or even 2.5 if it means they release in a matter of months to a year rather than almost 7 I figure he's going to be more cautious about stuff like that though. I'm sure he's learned
while rob is the last person i'd expect to learn lol, i could see him taking a step back for future updates. the guy prolly doesnt wanna have to stress so much for a single update anymore
I'm extremely skeptical about versus mode. The only one of the 3 buttons that doesn't say what update it's delayed to, if I remember right. I hope Rob tells us at least when he plans to do it. It's one of the 2.2 features I was most excited for - having Geometry Dash be a true multiplayer game.
he said it'll be a 2.21 feature, but in all fairness, implementing multiplayer and most likely match-making into any game, especially for the first time in robtop's case, can be difficult. i'd rather wait for it to be a polished, finished feature rather than a buggy, low-quality mess
I have a platformer feature idea that's called "propeller" Its like a replacement of the wave gamemode in platformer, when you click it flies up and if you click again it stops flying vice versa. It would be cool if they also add a recommended tab which is controlled by another feature that I had in my mind called "frequency list" where it shows what levels you play the most and level recommendations, its just like the recent tab but instead of recent levels, it shows recommended levels for you to try.

If official texture pack support is confirmed, then I think it’s only fair to have some form of official NONG support. Obviously, there would have to be heavy restrictions on this to avoid copyright hell but with so many top demons and popular levels using NONGs now, it becomes a problem for mobile players especially (it is currently nearly impossible to get NONGs on iOS without 3rd party apps like iCreate). Maybe this could be added in such a way where you can choose to either enter an ID from Newgrounds or choose a file from your device; choosing a file would allow you to hear the song in the editor and when you play the level on upload, but other players will need to download the file themselves outside of GD (on the song file hub for example) to be able to play the level with the song to avoid abuse of the system. Personally as a mobile iOS player, I just want to be able to build levels with whatever song I want without having to buy Geometry Dash on Steam separately and building it there.
THIS. DAMMIT. This is been an annoyance for me ever since I've started playing, every other music game out there lets you just, IMPORT your OWN mp3s in the game and with GD I have to either re-build the game with development tools or root unlock my phone. It's just not fair that on PC it's so easy.
I think it would be really sick if you could give each gamemode icon specific colors, maybe it could be something to buy from the shop or something. You could either toggle on or off the option to make each icon individual colors. There are so many reference icons, but if you have more than one, they will definitely have the wrong colors, and its only a visual change so it ain’t harming anybody.
My idea for 2.3 would be to add a challenge list. So itd be like a list but youd have to complete a challenge like tap ___ amount of time or finish in ____ amount of attempts.
2.3 seems to be more focused on extra QoL improvements, and some features here and there. Will probably take a year or more, and given how big 2.2 is, I don't mind one bit.

My theory for the 2.3 Platformer Exclusive Mode: "Drone". You can move in all four directions. Mouse Button will let the Drone do a jump / dash (like in Just Shapes and Beats or Project Arrhythmia)
0:06 I have a feeling that the 2.3 game mode will be the Train. Basically, it'll probs be a dark blue, grey, brown, or teal portal (my guess is brown) , and how it'd work is you'd need train track blocks or something for the Train to go on. Each click/tap would switch the Train from one train track to the other. You'd need two, three, or more (for example one on the right, one on the left, and one on the middle) train tracks for the Train to move from one to the other each click/tap. And on Platformer Mode, I guess you just get to control the Train and decide when you want the Train to move and on which train track. This is JUST a theory and I could be very wrong lol, but this would be a cool game mode to add to the game in my opinion.

ideas for 2.3 1 - The Teleport Gamemode The teleport game mode is basically like spider except you can go trough to walls. You can customize the portal how many blocks it can go trough. The limit is 999. If you equiped free mode to it. 2 - The orange orb The orange orb can make you change to a diffrent gamemode. It works in classic but for platformer it doesnt work for the wave or swingcopter. till it works. 3 - The dice portal like the random trigger, it randomizes things. But for portals. But unlike the random trigger, it only works for portals. You can choose which game mode will get the chance. example: if i choose wave, ship and swing, then it might be one of those. if i dont choose ufo, it has no way of being the exact portal.

Btw in the editor you can glitch in platformer swing and wave, they are in there. If you select Classic mode and place down a wave portal, go through it. Now that in the editor you are the wave you can pause the play testing and change game types to platformer and play as platformer wave.

I think one helpful feature would be a "Create Sequence" button in the editor. It would be like the "Create Loop" button but without the looping part of the created template. Seeing shaders happen in the title screen would be awesome too! (Of course epileptic people could turn them off if they wished.) Overall, some quality of life features would be nice. Leveling System: A leveling system where there are levels and you need XP and you can get XP from gaining stars/moons (gives respective amount of XP as the star/moon count x10), Demons, Every Collectible, and Playtime (1 minute = 1 XP)

I'd love a better pause menu, I once saw a concept in wich the menu show the difficulty of the level, its stars, if it had coins and all that info. i think is especially useful in plattformer mode cause sometimes I'm like "wait, did this level had coins?" And I think it might be a good change.

my favourite 2.2 feature is the spawn remap on the editor, it is fucking powerful, however, it is only present on the spawn trigger. My suggestion is that the spawn remap should be added in every trigger that has the spawn behaviour (like the event trigger, collision, state block, etc.) this would make building levels a lot easier since it'd be possible to use a lot less groups

Obviously, there would have to be heavy restrictions on this to avoid copyright hell but with so many top demons and popular levels using NONGs now, it becomes a problem for mobile players especially (it is currently nearly impossible to get NONGs on iOS without 3rd party apps like iCreate).
Maybe this could be added in such a way where you can choose to either enter an ID from Newgrounds or choose a file from your device; choosing a file would allow you to hear the song in the editor and when you play the level on upload, but other players will need to download the file themselves outside of GD (on the song file hub for example) to be able to play the level with the song to avoid abuse of the system.
Personally as a mobile iOS player, I just want to be able to build levels with whatever song I want without having to buy Geometry Dash on Steam separately and building it there.
THIS. DAMMIT. This is been an annoyance for me ever since I've started playing, every other music game out there lets you just, IMPORT your OWN mp3s in the game and with GD I have to either re-build the game with development tools or root unlock my phone.
It's just not fair that on PC it's so easy.
I think it would be really sick if you could give each gamemode icon specific colors, maybe it could be something to buy from the shop or something. You could either toggle on or off the option to make each icon individual colors. There are so many reference icons, but if you have more than one, they will definitely have the wrong colors, and its only a visual change so it ain’t harming anybody.
i feel like this would be too much. swapping colors in different gamemodes would make more sense i think

My idea for 2.3 would be to add a challenge list. So itd be like a list but youd have to complete a challenge like tap ___ amount of time or finish in ____ amount of attempts.

2.3 seems to be more focused on extra QoL improvements, and some features here and there. Will probably take a year or more, and given how big 2.2 is, I don't mind one bit.

My theory for the 2.3 Platformer Exclusive Mode: "Drone". You can move in all four directions. Mouse Button will let the Drone do a jump / dash (like in Just Shapes and Beats or Project Arrhythmia)
That last level looks like it could be a legendary level if finished

0:06 I have a feeling that the 2.3 game mode will be the Train. Basically, it'll probs be a dark blue, grey, brown, or teal portal (my guess is brown) , and how it'd work is you'd need train track blocks or something for the Train to go on. Each click/tap would switch the Train from one train track to the other. You'd need two, three, or more (for example one on the right, one on the left, and one on the middle) train tracks for the Train to move from one to the other each click/tap. And on Platformer Mode, I guess you just get to control the Train and decide when you want the Train to move and on which train track.
This is JUST a theory and I could be very wrong lol, but this would be a cool game mode to add to the game in my opinion.

- Current Value trigger: you can change some triggers' options to make them use the objects that the trigger activates properties for each one ( this new trigger will use the same IDs as the variable trigger but it will not be able to change using pickup triggers) [Color: #595c3b]

ideas for 2.3
1 - The Teleport Gamemode
The teleport game mode is basically like spider except you can go trough to walls. You can customize the portal how many blocks it can go trough. The limit is 999. If you equiped free mode to it.
2 - The orange orb
The orange orb can make you change to a diffrent gamemode. It works in classic but for platformer it doesnt work for the wave or swingcopter. till it works.
3 - The dice portal
like the random trigger, it randomizes things. But for portals. But unlike the random trigger, it only works for portals. You can choose which game mode will get the chance.
example: if i choose wave, ship and swing, then it might be one of those.
if i dont choose ufo, it has no way of being the exact portal.
1. you can already do this by making everything no touch, it must be a special block or something tho because there's literally no gameplay u can do with that
2. you can already do this with toggle orbs
3. random trigger but downgraded

Btw in the editor you can glitch in platformer swing and wave, they are in there. If you select Classic mode and place down a wave portal, go through it. Now that in the editor you are the wave you can pause the play testing and change game types to platformer and play as platformer wave.

I think one helpful feature would be a "Create Sequence" button in the editor. It would be like the "Create Loop" button but without the looping part of the created template. Another fun feature could be a third music thing that could be bought, and would work like the music customiser but would change the music to whatever the song of the last level you played was. Seeing shaders happen in the title screen would be awesome too! (Of course epileptic people could turn them off if they wished.) Overall, some quality of life features would be nice.
P.S: Anyone know how to make a working "buy" button for a Tycoon I'm making? You know, so it won't do anything if you don't have enough money, but will if you do?

I'd love a better pause menu, I once saw a concept in wich the menu show the difficulty of the level, its stars, if it had coins and all that info. i think is especially useful in plattformer mode cause sometimes I'm like "wait, did this level had coins?" And I think it might be a good change.

my favourite 2.2 feature is the spawn remap on the editor, it is fucking powerful, however, it is only present on the spawn trigger. My suggestion is that the spawn remap should be added in every trigger that has the spawn behaviour (like the event trigger, collision, state block, etc.) this would make building levels a lot easier since it'd be possible to use a lot less groups
