I am so glad I watched this video! I learned that my old school idea of needing to wash and roll a finished piece no longer applies which will be so useful to me as I am trying to learn to finish some of my pieces myself. Thanks so much for another lovely visit to Flannel Jammies Farm!
My thanks to you and Pat for a very informative and enjoyable video! Love the precious bunny pattern. Happy stitching until next time..........................
What a great video with so many wonder things in it. Thank you for having Patricia Ryan on teaching us about cloth. I will sure use her information. Love your beautiful work. I ordered the Ah tis Spring. I just love it. I appreciate your time in doing these. Your a star. Thanks again.
I recently found your channel, and Im so excited to start stitching after a very long hiatus. I live, love your channel, all of your gorgeous needlework, sharing ideas, tutorials, and most if all your kindness. Thank you
Hello there friend!! I am catching up on my floss tube watching and have finally gotten a chance to view this video. Delightful from start to finish as usual!! I can't thank you enough for inviting Pat Ryan to give the ironing lesson. So extremely helpful! I learned so much. Oh my goodness, that "happy accident" striped dress bunny is absolutely delightful! Teal is one of my favorite colors. Well done! I need to make a trip to Virginia so I can come and have some tea with you. You would probably have a hard time getting me to leave! Hugs!!
Holly Hintzman ... it was our pleasure! And YES, please come for tea and we’ll chat and stitch into the night!!! Time with stitchy friends stands still! ❤️ Donna Rae

How delightful! Thank you for including this info for us. I am, by nature an ironer.....but, wow. Good info! I remember my grandmother putting a vase of fresh cut lilacs in the open window....glorious! Be blessed!
Annette Ballard ... thanks so much for your sweet comment! My mom always brought a vase of lilacs in when they bloomed and soon the house was filled with their fragrance!
This was so much fun!!!! I love your videos so much! I loved seeing Pat and learning about ironing. I ignored the importance of it, but no longer! I am going to start ironing everything (well at least cross stitch fabric!). Thank you for all the work that you did to go into this video and all your others. It is very much appreciated! Thank you and Ms Pat for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm. I just started binge watching your videos and I’ve learned something new with everyone. I will be getting a new ironing pad and beach towel 😃
Jean Pounds ... so many thanks for the comment! I’m delighted that we were able to share with you. Pat is an AMAZING and KNOWLEDGEABLE woman. Hoping to have her back again!
That was a great Ironing Lesson! WOW! My fabric is looking great now and to think I've been accepting less than perfect for previous finishings. Thank you so much!
Great video -- so nice to see Pat show off how to iron -- I learned a bunch! I need to go get me one of those padded ironing board covers!!! Thank you so much for sharing your time, talent and sweetness with the stitching community. :) - T
I really enjoyed the ironing lesson from Pat and all the tidbits that came with it. Floss tube has been fabulous with everyone sharing tips and tricks to help us improve our stitching from the beginning to the final finish with each of us taking what works for us to end up with nicest work we can do. Stitching is basically a solitary activity and if you don't have the benefit of an LNS, this is best thing that could have happened to this hobby. There is so much we can learn from one another to add to our enjoyment of putting needle and thread to linen. Thank you!
karend525 stitches, thanks so much for stopping by! Isn't the FlossTube community wonderful? We learn so much from each other! Pat is an amazing and knowledgeable woman and I'm hoping to have her back for a future episode.
Clearly I need a new iron! A big thank you to both you and Pat for taking the time to walk us through it! Your finish on the Mordor wood piece is wonderful! 😉
Oh my goodness, Donna Rae!! This was an awesome video! I love R&R linens...my favorite and the ironing tutorial was great! I never thought to iron my fabric prior to stitching....or use a light spritz of starch...who knew? Great information and I ordered Pat's book...it looks wonderful and I really enjoy reading the history of early samplers. Thank you so much...and I love your Jane Austen pieces !
You know who would have thought to do an IRONING TUTORIAL ...THANK YOU thrice!!! So happy to know that I do iron my pieces correctly!! I would like to add that T-call has a great iron also in the same price range as Shark!! HAPPY STITCHING TODAY AND EVERYDAY!!
Karen Davis-Macon ... thanks a bunch for stopping by and commenting! I’m hoping to have Pat back for a future episode, perhaps to chat about an antique sampler! Stitchy joy to you!!!
Thank you so much for such and informative video. Just finished stitching Harvest Keeper. Went to the store and bought a new ironing board cover, Shark Iron and some spray starch. Came home and ironed my piece and it’s absolutely gorgeous and ready for a frame. I just never realized all that stuff wears out and that you should replace it occasionally 😜. Man it sure made a difference 👍🏻.
I have really enjoyed watching all your videos. I've found some new to me flosstubers thanks to your charming mentions :) I learned so much from you & Pat today - GREAT information! Thanks to both of you for that. I cant believe you have lilacs blooming already - lucky girl! Up here in the North they don't bloom till May...oooo I love their fragrance
Diane Morici ... isn’t the weather storage this year? I thought our lovely lilacs would have been wiped out by the cold and wind, but they’re hanging in there. Good for you for starting an herb garden!!! I so appreciate your comments!!!
A great video and wonderful lesson on the ironing.I will be buying a special towel for this process, that was really interesting. When it rains I put bowls out to catch the water and store in containers especially for the iron.It actually gives me much pleasure to do this. Just turning Autumn here down under and have had a bit of rain lately, it makes me excited, time to put the bowls out.
Monday mornings can be tricky for this Seattle girl. Then, I poured a cup of coffee, took a deep breath and turned on your video. ...and just like that, I felt bathed in Grace and Goodness. Thank you kindly for sharing such a helpful, informative and charming installment. It was a pleasure to spend my Monday morning with you. Thank you so much for sharing a part of your heart. I will most certainly come back for a visit. Simple thanks.
SewGrateful, I so appreciate your kind words! I wanted this channel to be a soft place to land for stitchers; thank you for your encouragement today. I look forward to our future "visits".
The reason so many people are kind to you, is because you are so kind to us. It really shows what a kind person you are. Loved seeing Pat from R&R and her ironing! I learned so much and even bought the Shark Iron!!!! My husband asked when it arrived, "Do you need a new iron?" I also have a Shark Sweeper.... they are great products! I just love your Channel. Hugs
Well Donna Rae...I have to say it’s been a delightful evening of stitching getting caught up on ALL of your videos. I’m so glad you’re on Flosstube. You have such a wonderful, calm spirit and I love everything you’re showing us. Thank you for including Pat too. She is a wealth of information and I do learn something every time I stop by and talk her at the shop. I am very fortunate to be so close and be able to see all of you when I visit. Mel's Stitchy Musings ... thanks so much for watching and for leaving such a nice note! I’m hoping Pat will join me again in a future episode. She has so much knowledge and experience! Looking forward to April!!!
Hi Donna Rae! Really nice finishing on your Jane Austen piece. I am a big fan of Jane Austen and before going to graduate school, I used to imagine I might one day become the president of JASNA (the Jane Austen Society of North America). I love your Lady Catherine quote on the other stitched piece! Your stitched house is looking so cute! Thanks for the tip about stitching with overdyed floss. Thanks to you and Pat for the tutorial!
Misty Pursel ... thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such kind comments! Looks like I need a membership in JASNA... Pat was a delightful guest and I’m hoping to have her in a future episode, maybe to chat about antique Samplers!
What a delightful video! And I didn’t know that my ironing board, iron choice and ironing style matched up with the Dyepot Queen herself! Thank you Donna Rae and thank you Pat for all the lovely things, tips and techniques that you shared with us!
Thank you so much for sharing the segment on ironing with Pat! It was so helpful! PLUS - I quickly removed my one big WIP from the qsnap because it was already sitting too long on it! I am so guilty of leaving projects in the hoops (some for years since I just picked stitching back up!). I loved Pat's tips about what kind of iron to have and the necessary padding too! Thank you!
First time to watch you after a mention from Yvonne night owl stitcher.Love your video and I now need to see what I missed in the previous four. The ironing segment is extremely useful.Thank you for sharing:)
Mariam, thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment! And many thanks to Yvonne for sending you my way. Pat is so knowledgeable; I learning a lot in this segment, too!
Oh Donna Rae, what a wonderful video! I absolutely loved your sharing Pat's knowledge about ironing and I can't wait to put her tips to work. Thank you both so much for doing that for us! I'm also really glad you shared that sweet bunny today. Your version is so pretty and I can't wait to stitch my own. Happy stitching!
This video is filled with treasures start to finish. I loved seeing that linen on the line outside. I also did not know Pat is the author of my favorite cross stitch book. So much talent. Thank you ...again.
MOUNTAINgirl189... thank you so much for your nice comment! I couldn't help including the images of all that R&R Reproductions linen on the line! Pat's book is such a great resource.
Thank you so much for this podcast. I had a piece of linen with creases and I was having trouble getting them out of the fabric. I followed Pat’s advice and it worked like magic! I think a new iron might be on my list, too. I really enjoy your podcast!
Donna Rae what a wonderful video!! Your FFO is just lovely!!! So are your wips!! Thank you so much for having Pat on I learned a lot especially about the thick ironing pad. She is a very knowledgeable lady!! Thank you for giving us tips on how to stitch with veragated floss and to stitch your white thread first when stitching windows. Happy stitching!! lynn
As someone who has been stitching for about 38 years, I have been through many evolutions when it comes to materials, finishing, etc. But this! Proof that you learn something new every day! I will be ever so mindful about my fabric care from now on! Thank you so much!
Oh, how lucky am I that Pat and Ann and the rest of the dyeing to stitch crew at the store are just down the street from me. I always say to myself.... "I'm just going to run in for a minute to grab such and such" and it never fails, I always end up chatting with someone and spending way more than just a few minutes. But I absolutely love talking to Pat. She is a wealth of knowledge and she is always willing to share it with anyone who wants to sit and listen. I think I learn at least five new things every time I chat with her. Loved this video, as always. And I am counting the days to retreat!!!
Sarah, I can't wait!!! Yes, Pat is an amazing woman with such rich wisdom to share! I'm hoping to have her on again in the future! LOVE our stitchy tribe!
Wow! What a great video. Not only do we get to visit with you, but we get a super ironing video from Pat Ryan as well. Thanks for devoting the time it takes to make videos. Keep them coming. Love you!
Thank you for the lovely video. It's so nice to see the author of that amazing book. I took it out of our library here in Shelburne, Ontario Canada. I found it very interesting and well thought out. I plan on purchasing it for my book collection
Donna Rae and Pat, thank you for the ironing lesson. I learned so much. I do always iron my piece before I start stitching on it so it’s good to know I am doing the correct thing. I didn’t know about having a big nice padding. Thank you for mentioning me in your video!! And thank you for giving me other people to go watch. ❤️ I have been to Dyeing To Stitch once and the ladies in there were so nice and helpful. I wish I lived closer... I am in Richmond.
Amylovestoads, I can't wait till you visit again... let's try to schedule a meet up! Wasn't Pat wonderful? Hoping to have her back again to chat about antique samplers!
WOW! It was such a treat, to get a live tutorial about ironing our fabric from Pat Ryan! I will definitely be following her advice from now on!! One thing that I always do, is to remove my hoop when I am done stitching! Thank You for another great video, Donnarae! 💐🌺🌸🌷🌹🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Hi Donna Rae I’m loving all your videos this one was great and so full of tips and ideas ...please keep them coming ...have a lovely stitching week it’s lovely to watch such a calm personality in these chaotic times ❤️
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for sharing this ironing video. I never thought to iron my material before stitching. I just started a kit using Aida and it is very stiff and of course the fold lines... I'm gonna try this method even though I already started stitching. Thanks again Donna Rae and Pat!!
It was great seeing Pat in your video. She is a wealth of knowledge in our stitching world. As usual love your pieces. Thank you for the new flosstube news, I can’t keep up with everyone but love meeting new stitchers. I will definitely introduce myself to you in April.
Paula, cannot wait to see you in April! Pat is such an amazing woman and I always learn something new from her. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me an encouraging note!
What a nice surprise to have Pat on your video!!That was a wonderful section on ironing. The padding information was great and easy to do and the iron....well I love my Shark vacuum so now I'll be checking out their irons. Thank you so much for filming that for all of us.
Lovely video, as always, Donna Rae! I would love to come and chat and smell the lilacs with you!! But I’m afraid I’m going to be too busy ironing ALL of my fabric!! Thanks so much for doing that section with Pat, and please thank her for me! Have a beautiful day!
Interesting! As soon as she said HAIRSPRAY I remembered using it to remove SHARPIE MARKER from a tshirt, took multiple applications and rinsing, but it did work. great info on ironing, thank you!
My goodness, I loved this video! You are a natural and such a great idea to have Pat share her ironing tips! Loved the two of you and all the great knowledge! I will be helping Tanya at the retreat and can’t wait to meet you! Yes, we will have fun! See you soon!
Once again, I loved every single thing about this video, Donna Rae! Thank you so much for sharing this great video tutorial from Pat. I immediately bought that iron, as well as her book! I have Beth's chart on my wish list, too. What a wonderful visit with you...such a lovely way to start my day! Hugs--Lorraine
The ironing lessons was great! I did learn a lot. As a quilter I've learned to press and not iron and never use steam (because, apparently, the quilt police are going to get me otherwise?!?! LOL!). It's great to learn the reasons behind why actually ironing (vs pressing) and the steam help get the wrinkles out of the linen. I really appreciated the lesson!
What a helpful video! I need to go get that extra ironing board padding. And thank you for the recommendation of the Historic Samplers book. I added it to my book wishlist!
Texstylust Textile Style Lust ... thanks so very much! Pat is so wise and I’m delighted she joined me. I’m hoping she’ll return for a future episode to chat about antique Samplers! ❤️
Hi Donna Rae, thank you for your kind words and I appreciate the mention - what a sweet welcome to this community! Thank you for this extremely helpful interview about ironing. I hope I can incorporate some of these wise techniques, and I'm interested in reading Pat's book. I love how you customized the spring bunny, it's whimsical and cheerful!
LeahNoel ... thanks so much for visiting and commenting! Pat’s book is a great resource! I highly recommend it. Looking forward to seeing more from you!
Another wonderful video visit Donna Rae... the segment with Pat was very informative. I didn't know about using unscented spray starch. I was happy to hear that she is a proponent of inexpensive irons. My experience has also been that expensive irons die at the same rate as inexpensive ones...I got my last iron at Target because they have a display and you can pick them up. Didn't want a real heavy one. I ordered the bunny pattern from Lori...can't wait to stitch it. Have a wonderful week and happy stitching!
Carol Funicelli ... thanks so much for the nice comment! I was delighted to have Pat join me to share her wisdom and experience. Enjoy stitching that bunny!!!
What a delightful and informative special guest! I loved meeting your friend Pat and learned so much from her about ironing. Thank you, thank you!! Also I just loved your Jane Austen finish and thanks for the sweet mention, too ;)
Rachel, so nice of you to stop by for a visit! Isn't Pat so knowledgeable? I'm hoping she'll share some antique sampler knowledge in a future episode...

And Thank you for inviting your friend and teach us to iron, this will make it alot easier!! And another Thank you for your shout out!! I can't believe the wonderful things you said! ❤ Ps. LOVE the song at the end of your videos it is now on my playlist on Spotify 😊 Happy stitching 🤗
Stitching Becca ... thanks for visiting here!!! Isn’t Pat wonderful and wise?! I’m hoping she’ll come back in the future! The song is written by my friend Billy and his wife Loretta has the most beautiful voice! 💖😊💖
Once again loved your video. Especially loved the ironing tutorial. What a great idea to share with us! It’s such an important aspect of our FFOs. Thank you, DonnaRae!! ♥️♥️
I just finished ironing two pieces before stitching and then this video was next up in my watch later playlist. Perfect timing! I now I need to go shopping for some new ironing supplies. Thanks so much for this very informative video.
How interesting! Not only do I have a Shark iron, but several years ago, I was at a quilting show and purchased a fancy ironing board pad and cover that I thought was a tad expensive. I was told that the secret to this particular pad was the thickness of the padding. I wasn't disappointed. I've not laid a towel down to iron plain fabric, but I always have ironed my finished pieces right side down on a plush towel. Many years ago, I was told that this helps the stitches "pop" and not get flattened. I'm a big spray starch/Ellen's Best Press girl, but didn't think I should use it on my stitching. I am going to do that from now on. Thanks, Donna Rae. P.S. I admit that I'm guilty of not taking my stitching out of the hoop each day. 😱
This was a wonderful, helpful video! Thanks for the hint about stitching the bricks and how to stitch with variegated threads in the bricks. The ironing part was great, so helpful, thank you very much!! I love watching your video’s! Thanks for sharing your time with us!❤️

Thank you!

CraftyCat Stitcher ... thanks for visiting! Pat has so much wisdom to share. I’m glad you were able to pick up something new!

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for sharing this ironing video. I never thought to iron my material before stitching. I just started a kit using Aida and it is very stiff and of course the fold lines... I'm gonna try this method even though I already started stitching.
Thanks again Donna Rae and Pat!!
Tina Harsch ... so happy you enjoyed the video!!! Ironing beforehand makes a big difference for me!

Great tutorial on ironing! Thank you! I learned so much! ♥️
Meline
The ironing lessons was great! I did learn a lot. As a quilter I've learned to press and not iron and never use steam (because, apparently, the quilt police are going to get me otherwise?!?! LOL!). It's great to learn the reasons behind why actually ironing (vs pressing) and the steam help get the wrinkles out of the linen. I really appreciated the lesson!
Stitch ALL The Things ... yay! So glad you enjoyed Pat’s tips and I promise we won’t allow any police!!! 👮🏻
Thank you so much for the ironing lesson!! I have learned so much!😍
Kym ... thanks for stopping by!

Priscilla & Chelsea ... thanks for stopping by! Wasn’t it fun to visit Pat? I’m so hoping she’ll join us in the future! 🌸🐇🌸
What a wonderful video. So very helpful. Thank you

Thank you for such an interesting and informative video! I always enjoy your videos, thank you.
Cheryl Bell ... thanks a bunch!
Toni W Stitchinky ... so glad I’m not the only one that “forgets” to take the hoop off! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment!
This was a wonderful, helpful video! Thanks for the hint about stitching the bricks and how to stitch with variegated threads in the bricks. The ironing part was great, so helpful, thank you very much!! I love watching your video’s! Thanks for sharing your time with us!❤️
