fun fact ! bcs of this episode its become a VERY popular headcanon that dipper is trans ftm ! also why some ppl say him and mabel are TECHNICALLY identical since twins who are the opposite gender are usually fraternal
People hate on this episode, but I really like it Though there is one thing that bugs me Dipper should have told the Minotaurs that beef jerky comes from male cows That would have been the cherry on top to this episode #pettyrevenge
While this is an awesome idea, I do have some issues with this . . . . . . my main issue here is that male cows technically don't exist. Cow is the term for mature female cattle, so Dipper saying “male cows” would be like him saying “male hen”. I still think it would've been awesome!! Though, my second issue is that I don't think the Man-otaurs would care about only having manly stuff in them So, I think Dipper would end up having to word that great idea of a remark something like this in order for it to really sink in [Disney likely won't allow this!]: “By the way, Beef Jerky comes from male cattle or bulls, so you ♂️-otaurs have technically been obsessing over the meat of another male the whole time. Let THAT sink in!!” This optional additional quote was brought to you by an AroAce who grew up in a school environment that had quite a bit of toxic masculinity & conservative values. Enjoy! :)

@@monkeydluffy7735 many trans men have talked about feeling like they have to prove to other people that they're "manly enough" to be a man because they're trans, some even falling into toxic masculinity because of that pressure There are some other reasons people headcanon it too: Mabel and Dipper look /exactly/ alike, normally with fake twins there's differences, so maybe they're real twins and Dipper just transitioned; Dipper isn't his actual name, he chose one that he liked more for himself (like trans people do). "Half Man Half Taur" Yes, that's what a Minotaur is; Taurus literally means "Bull". *Although*; "Mino" part of Minotaur refers to King Minos, which would make the one Theseus fought "Minos' Bull", technically makes that Minotaur it the name of that individual monster as opposed to the species. To "Man-o-Taur" would be the correct name of the species.
What, Pacifica? She's one of the most overrated characters of all time. Half-baked at every turn. People only like her because they want to ship Dipper with someone.
After re-watching this (and a few other) episodes again, I can totally understand why some people head canon Dipper as being trans. He's not canonically (it's never been confirmed) but there is a lot of evidence behind it in this episode specifically. First off, the whole A plot of the episode is Dipper proving how manly he is, insinuating that he doesn't feel very 'manly' or masculine in the first place. This could obviously be because he is only 12 years old and is in that 'in-between' stage where he's not a kid but not really a teen either, but it could also be because he's trans and has some insecurities about himself, especially when it comes to his masculinity. Also, at the end of the episode, Dipper is super disappointed when he fails the manliness challenge the manitaurs give him, like he feels like he's never be a true man, something that a lot of trans people feel sometimes. But, it's just a head canon, I know Dipper isn't trans
Its actually so stupid. Not everything has to be about trans. Blud is 12. Thats first. A man that isnt "manly" can still be a man. What? Every male that isn't "manly" has to be trans? Thats a whole ass new toxic thing. Trans community started to get really corrupted. A character can be written in that specific way. That doesn't mean he has to be trans.

The dumb things he had to put up with just to make this show...
You can probably thank him for Disney being more inclusive these days.
I know, right? Do you love the Gravity Falls episode, "Dipper vs. Manliness"? Yes, no, or maybe?
8:00 - "Ah, you've weaponized my pride. I respect that, but also hate you for it." - Eda Clawthorne
Anyone else hearing "Eye of the Tiger" from seeing Dipper look like he's ready to scrap?
Been a head cannon of mine for years that dipper is trans(ftm) and this is one of the episodes that really helps with that “image”
Seeing Elijah meeting lazy Susan makes me wanna see her reacting to the shorts of Dipper and Mabel. Literally was hillarious when Susan was spinning around like what the hell?
i never realized the multi bear had 8 heads. makes sense because his voice actor is doc ock
Fun story: When Elijah took to grab a snack, I did the EVACT same thing. Willing to bet many people did ^^
It's kinda like the new yawning.
See, now my Masculinity is the sensitive, gentleman type, and I'm grateful for that, I'm glad that it isn't toxic Masculinity, and I really like how that episode tackles the serious issue of Toxic Masculinity and what makes a man a man.
I loved how they addressed toxic masculinity in this episode!!!
Ugh, why do you always love this Gravity Falls episode?!
I’m getting major edge of the world owl house vibes here isn’t anyone?
Currently reporting in from Comic-Con International (7/22/22):
While waiting for good panels to start, here’s an episode that looks into Dipper’s situation after lying about his age.
Every funny moment between the two cops becomes more wholesome when you realise that they're canonically conformed to be a couple
I completely forgot that Jennifer Coolidge was in gravity falls I love her Great reactions by the way
This episode deserve much more apreciation. A personal favourite ^^
Well, why is "Dipper vs. Manliness" your favourite Gravity Falls episode?
Stan: "you're your own man"
Eda: "You gotta be your own witch" (The covention episode)
Seeing her freak out at all the stuff this show got past Disney (and rightly show), and then remembering how much more they didn't let Hirsch and his crew do that we learned about in all those emails.
Gravity Falls ran so Owl House could build a fucking catapult
fun fact ! bcs of this episode its become a VERY popular headcanon that dipper is trans ftm ! also why some ppl say him and mabel are TECHNICALLY identical since twins who are the opposite gender are usually fraternal
Fun Fact:Some people think dipper is trans, and most of the ppl in gravity falls are LGBT
FINALLY, Another Gravity Falls Reaction
I've Been Waiting
SAME
People hate on this episode, but I really like it
Though there is one thing that bugs me
Dipper should have told the Minotaurs that beef jerky comes from male cows
That would have been the cherry on top to this episode
#pettyrevenge
While this is an awesome idea, I do have some issues with this . . .
. . . my main issue here is that male cows technically don't exist. Cow is the term for mature female cattle, so Dipper saying “male cows” would be like him saying “male hen”.
I still think it would've been awesome!! Though, my second issue is that I don't think the Man-otaurs would care about only having manly stuff in them
So, I think Dipper would end up having to word that great idea of a remark something like this in order for it to really sink in [Disney likely won't allow this!]:
“By the way, Beef Jerky comes from male cattle or bulls, so you ♂️-otaurs have technically been obsessing over the meat of another male the whole time. Let THAT sink in!!”
This optional additional quote was brought to you by an AroAce who grew up in a school environment that had quite a bit of toxic masculinity & conservative values. Enjoy! :)
I came here just to see your reaction to Dipper's bathroom incident...and boy, was I pleased!
'4:25' some people says that alex hirch was supposed to make dipper canonnly trans and some said that it was confirmed?? Is it true?? PLS CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME IM SO CONFUSED RN😭😭
Honestly I forgot just how amazing an episode this was one. While this one might have been a bit more of an On-the-nose message, that doesn't mean it's done badly. Sometimes it's the best ay to get a message across. Plus this episode has some of the best jokes early on. lol
"girly Icelandic pop sensation" I NEVER NOTICED THAT BEFORE LMAO INSTEAD OF SWEDISH OML
At long last, the reaction is finally here!
After all these year... I finnaly have.. 5 of them?
I can’t wait for you to get to season 2
This was the creators least favorite episode, but still one he enjoyed writing and creating. Can’t wait to see your own thoughts on it too!!
I know. "Dipper vs. Manliness" is my least favorite Gravity Falls episode, too. What's your least favorite Gravity Falls episode of all time?
The way Elijah just says "Wow" when Stan asks for money is funny af and real
Great reaction! This was a fun episode!
As someone who's non-binary and masc presenting(since im afab i wanna be more masc), this episode hit WAY TOO CLOSE to home !!
That yeah a bunch of chickens line always makes me laugh I don’t know why it just does
This is definitely my favourite episode of Gravity Falls! It’s hilarious and just reminds me of myself and being trans, and that makes me happy
OMG i love your gravity falls reactions! Keep it up cuz it's really really good!
can't wait for more! ❤
This episode is so similar to the episode of The Owl House “Convention” where Luz asks Eda if she’ll be a good witch, and Eda replies saying you gotta be your own witch. So I like that reference.
I love imagining transmasc Dipper with this ep
actually you can look at all the stuff Alex Hirsch the shows creator had to fight with disney on to get some of the jokes green lit
I’m so excited, definitely watching it immediately when it’s released. Is there kipo video coming soon??
if you guys know anything about the censorship bs that Alex faced with this show, that just makes the whole "fist for nipples" thing even more hilarious. they won't allow "spin the bottle" for "promoting making out" or Soos in a teddy bear for "risk of creating furries" but they have no problem with "I HAVE FISTS FOR NIPPLES"? makes me wonder what the S & P was smoking during this show's runtime
I smell EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
This is an episode I’ve seen people reference when talking about their Trans Dipper Headcanons and now I can’t see it any other way lol
Can I ask how tho? Cuz I don’t see it
@@monkeydluffy7735 many trans men have talked about feeling like they have to prove to other people that they're "manly enough" to be a man because they're trans, some even falling into toxic masculinity because of that pressure
There are some other reasons people headcanon it too: Mabel and Dipper look /exactly/ alike, normally with fake twins there's differences, so maybe they're real twins and Dipper just transitioned; Dipper isn't his actual name, he chose one that he liked more for himself (like trans people do). I've seen more reasons but that's all I remember
@@unravelmuffin yes but what dipper is going through is very common among boys going through puberty to question their masculinity as their growing into manhood, it’s the same among girls but not to the extent it is with boys,I thought everybody knew this? ofc he would be offended when his own family was making fun of him and it doesn’t help that the show consistently emasculates dipper which isn’t cool,Mabel n dipper looking alike is a character design choice, the same way some characters have 4 fingers instead of 5 n how Pacifica and mables designs look a bit similar, like it said in the show and book dipper says he goes by that name becuz ppl kept calling him that due to his birthmark and it had gotten to the point where he stopped trying to correct ppl on what his actual name is n went with the name,he didn’t choose the nickname other ppl did for him, dipper is Alex’s self insert with mable being his irl twin sister and gruncle Stan being his irl grandfather, Alex said he doesn’t care that y’all hc him as trans but canonically dipper is cis, idrc what y’all hc him as but it kinda bothers me how most ppl use the fact that becuz dipper isn’t very masculine they label him as trans which isn’t a cool thing to do
@@monkeydluffy7735 it's just. A headcanon. I said people "headcanon" dipper as trans, not that he /is/ and that the creators have said he is. Many transmasc seem themselves in him and like to think he's trans too. That's all there is to it.
@@monkeydluffy7735 while I do agree that you are correct in saying that only headcanoning characters that are less masculine as trans is bad as it creates a stereotype, most of these headcanon I've seen were made by trans people themselves, who saw something similar to their own experiences with Dipper. There's no harm in that.
When you're done with the show you should definitely listen to the emails between Alex Hirsch and the Disney censor board. They are quite hilarious.
Ok, can we all agree that Elijah should watch Dickinson? No spoilers but we all know "the episode" that we all already want to see =)
PS: I hope you are all having a great day!! =)
I just happen to be listening to the full version of disco girl then I see this?! Lol
i have a hc that dipper is transmasc it fits fantastically with dippers situation
i mean, i doubt thats what was intended, but the v i b e s
I absolutely love that head cannon too!
7:26 Oh this is just the tip of what is to come!
If you pay attention in a later episode you can find out what he decided regarding the shirts… it took me about 8 years to notice.
This was my first episode of G-Falls
You're totally rocking that SHIRT ELIJAH!❤️
"Half Man Half Taur"
Yes, that's what a Minotaur is; Taurus literally means "Bull".
*Although*; "Mino" part of Minotaur refers to King Minos, which would make the one Theseus fought "Minos' Bull", technically makes that Minotaur it the name of that individual monster as opposed to the species. To "Man-o-Taur" would be the correct name of the species.
I can't wait for the next episode. Where we meet the superior version of Sasha Waybright
What, Pacifica? She's one of the most overrated characters of all time. Half-baked at every turn. People only like her because they want to ship Dipper with someone.
@@saintroddy This description sounds exactly like Waybright
@@roo1014 I smell toxic Marcanne shipper
Amazing reaction video Elijah! 👏🏻 Can’t wait for the next one! 😄
You know, if nobody has pointed you to it, you should look up the creator's e-mails with Disney's S&P department.
Once you've watched the series, anyway. Spoilers.
can't wait for u to react to gravity falls s2 in the future, it gets crazy
There are a few UA-cam videos of emails that Disney wanted Alex to change and his response to them not all of the emails but some of them
If you're interested, there's a full version of Disco Girl sung by Jason Ritter (Dipper) on youtube.
Thank you for uploading these, it always makes my day seeing your uploads ^-^
Please. I need more gravity falls reactions or I’ll die.
Yes that is the correct and appropriate response to the theme song
Please do a video of you deciphering the codes! I rlly wanna see that
After re-watching this (and a few other) episodes again, I can totally understand why some people head canon Dipper as being trans.
That doesn't mean he has to be trans.
i am so soo super excited for you to get to episode 19
Another fun reaction, but I'm really excited about to see your next reaction to with "Double Dipper," particularly regarding one of the new girls that gets introduced.
I want to say thank you because you helped me come out to my parents. :)
Chutzpah was voiced by Clancy Brown (Red Death, Mr. Krabs)
Can't wait for your reaction to the next episode.
Please don't leave us hanging on this episode for too long. 😩
your videos are so amazing 😖💞💞
If you want a hint, “three letters back” is describing the way you decode a Ceasar Cipher.
And this, is where it all started. Where half of the fandom starter headcanoning dipper as trans 😃😃
"youre literally 12"
has been my reaction since i first saw this episode🤣
The scene with "Disco Girl" was hilarious!!!!! Lol!!!!!!
At the end of the episodes you can see random numbers at every episode, acsually they all mean something in number alpabeth
0:00 Love the shirt, but all I can think of is Markiplier. "You do you. And I'll do me. And we won't do each other....... Probably." 🤣
I KNEW u we’re gonna react and laugh about the “fists for nipples” thing😁😂
There's a vinyl record coming soon - one song available is a full cover of Disco Girl (should be free of spoilers)
I saw a fic where Wendy did thes trials. Ended with summoning a feared figure known as Momma.
Best solve this code considering how the next will be.
Next ep should be REALLY good ;)
