    Impeachment: American Crime Story examines the national crisis that led to the first impeachment of a U.S. President in over a century through the eyes of the women at the center of the events: Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp and Paula Jones. All three were thrust into the public spotlight during a time of corrosive partisan rancor, shifting sexual politics and a changing media landscape.

      They didn't need to trick her they had her dead to rights on multiple felonies. She was told multiple times she was not under arrest and was free to go and twice she tried call the attorney who was in on it. She stayed calling her mother who would not arrive until the next morning because she refused to fly from New York. They finally called her father in California who sent his family attorney.

Don't you believe it was a good thing that Jones was able to find out they were lying in her court case against Clinton? It is Lewinsky who engaged in an "awful move" first with her felonies and then trying to intimidate Tripp into doing the same.

      @Amy Royall she was taken advantage of by the most powerful man in the world at the time. the president of the United States began an affair with a 22 year old staff intern, objectively it’s highly inappropriate on his part. Not to mention a disgusting abuse of power.

      @peterpaul9644 3 роки тому +5

      @Amy Royall I believe the female brain does mature earlier than the male’s, but I also believe the average age for fully formed brains is 25. She was a 22 yo young woman… she was not “grown”… yes, she was grown compared to a Chelsea at the time, but not compared to Bill whose daughter is maybe a decade younger than Monica? Come on now… what she did was imoral and douchey but if I had to judge anyone here it would’ve been Bill… even if she really were a grown woman by then.

    • @peterpaul9644
      @peterpaul9644 3 роки тому +5

      @Amy Royall I never said she wasn’t accountable. She was an a-hole, but why are you shaming her? He was the grown man - president of the United States. What if she were a mole or something… he should not be involved in any relationship that could lead him vulnerable. He is the one who put (potentially) the country at risk. Also, I find incredibly reckless of 18 year olds to sign up for the military. Granted, it’s the kind of reckless behavior that leads to honor, which is the opposite of hers. Calm down…

    Monica Lewinsky is an executive producer on this project. I just have to wonder if this is how it REALLY went down. How much of it is real and how much drama did they add to it. They should do a voice over, with Monica Lewinsky, telling the viewers how it was.

      Yep she's a producer specifically so she can fully shape the narrative, to make herself look like a poor naive victim instead of a stalker who wanted to sleep with the President and went front row to every event shamelessly flirting with him. We know this because it's on video for posterity all over UA-cam, documented by news agencies covering all the events she attended. By her own admission it was consensual. She was a political groupie in the same way a band groupie tries to hook up with rock stars. She knew exactly what she was doing and went for it. Now the whole narrative about the unequal power between the two being a problem is just silly, made a mute point by the fact she had a prior history of sleeping with older married men. She had a documented affair with a married college professor of hers as well. She gets off on the conquest. Monica is just trying to get another 15 minutes of fame. This is attention seeking behavior pure and simple.

      They also made her look dumpy and more victim-like. The real Monica was chubby but pretty, meticulously groomed with a stylish fashion sense. They dulled down her real look on purpose in their casting choice. Why? Think about it? It's so they make her look more like a believable victim type for the cancel culture bunch rather than a person who got off on fooling around with the most powerful man on earth. Linda Tripp recorded her bragging about it. She was no victim, no matter how they're trying to make her look after the fact. The real Monica Lewinsky loved all the attention or she wouldn't be ok with trying to get another 15 minutes of fame from this.

    Paulson is a treasure. The way she completeky embodies the real life people she plays is incredible. During the excellent people vs oj simpson it really was the most amazing casting. Particularly sarah who made me forget at times it wasnt marcia clarke. She was that good. Sterling really looked & sounded like chris darden it was eerie & kourtney b Vance was so great as johnny cochrane. All of their Emmy's were so well deserved. I have to say the casting of the leads are not great. Cuba gooding jr as oj was not good. Hes a small guy in height & stature while oj was a big guy in 95. He didnt really sound like him. I think their was a guy in the nbc movie that came out during the trial who played oj perfectly & looked a bit like him. He looked a bit young to be playing the late 40's oj in 96 so he might have been perfect age 20 years later to play him if he was still acting. The woman playing Lewinsky looks nothing like monica. She has very big blue eyes I think this girls are brown. I think Lewinsky was taller or seemed to be taller & the hair is all wrong. Monica had the short cut w/ no bangs. Sorry if I'm being picky but that's a testament to how great ryan murphy casts people. Paulson again I have to say ons incredible. I dont know if she is a student of method acting but she did the whole Christian bale body metamorphosis by gaining 30 lbs. Clive owen is really good too. I had no idea it was even him & someone was complaining he is british cant they find an american actor ? I didnt even know he had an English accent. He played bill well w/o turning him into a snl caricature with the southern drawl & lip biting. Colin hanks literally is the clone of his dad. He looks & sounds just like him. When he first spoke in the scene without getting a look at his face I knew it was him from his voice bc it's very similar to his dads. I've seen him in a few things where he plays some sort of government agent. Anyway murphy when he gets a series right it's great. For whatever reason his series on Versace 's murder wasnt near as popular as the oj one. I guess it wasnt as publicized as oj & the Lewinsky cases everyone I know was hooked on the oj anerican crime story. I was a little young & in school so at the time I knew a lot of the players & highlights of the case & trial. I hope they do the rodney king case but they may cover a little of the same ground as the oj one bc that was the event that had a ton of impact on the oj trial & would be all about Los Angeles lapd.

    Kavenaugh on Supreme Court & he was involved in the whole thing. He worked for Starr. Now he got his reward and was put on supreme court. Clinton was a cad & what he did was wrong but it was politics that drove those involved in bringing him down. I would like to see the movie but like others I don't get FX so where do I look? There are others ( I won't name) who are prominent today and I saw a comment from one that he didn't know they would treat Monica the way they did. Well, he is attorney and I believe he knew and didn't care at the time. I will admit he cares now as an older person. No matter what your politics, you have to admit Rs are ruthless when it comes to winning or blocking.

    This was a fantastic series! Loved it when it was first televised and watched it again on Hulu.
    I understand Linda betrayed Monica and while I totally get why people despised her, I also understand where she was coming from.
    Being a person's sounding board is exhausting. She probably had enough. That's one. Two, I think she really cared about Monica and wanted it to end so that Monica could move on and stop focusing on the affair. It was unhealthy. And three, Monica put her in a really bad position, asking her to lie. Not sure I could do that.
    I don't love the betrayal, but I can understand where Linda was coming from. I don't think she was a monster. She was a human being .. not perfect, but a human being.

    2022 is the year in which Lucianne Goldberg and Kenneth Starr went on to their rewards - I hope, in a hotter climate. They’ve met Linda Tripp there. Of course, I don’t make the decision; just my opinion.

    My only complaint is that most of the women picked to play these parts are less attractive than the actual women. Monica had a beautiful face but she was over weight, this girl is little more than cute. Paula Jones was also a lot more attractive than the woman playing her . I will say Linda Tripp looks much better because Sarah Paulson has bone structure to die for and no amount of added weight and makeup can change that.
