    Finally I get to hear his voice. He's a good public speaker, presenter, and turning his press conference into something like briefing, like seminar styled presentation of working paper. He's straight forward, serious but still shows his determination in a relaxed demeanor

      He's rather uncomfortable and his voice is a sign of it. WHAT MOVED THE CATTLE?! Shouted a daring journalist in a perfect world.

    Great news. I guess commercial space stations are a decade away at most. Even smaller countries could pay and send astronauts for a month or so in LEO...

    Bigelow Aerospace: They are entirely shutdown as a company now. They said it was due to COVID. Let go something around less than 100 employees.

    "Bobs innovative technology" says Bruno. Tory show us some of ULA's innovative technology. Some real hardware not just animations of future, possible technology.

      ULA provides the launch capacity "girth" needed for the 330. Also the second stage being reusable / refuel-able is huge. Matched together these companies are creating an option for international organizations to have their own space presence for R&D, etc. We can only imagine the potential applications.

    Heh, that question was hilarious. "So, what are you actually announcing?" Answer, something on the second paragraph of the press briefing.

    • @jamiegodman715
      @jamiegodman715 8 років тому +2

      I thought the exact same thing. Tell us what the last paragraph says Bob. It was weird that they dint really announce anything that we didn't already know. That the B330 will launch soon and ULA will launch it. Still it's exciting times we live in.

    There is a Dragon on the Bigelow module ;)

    • @jamiegodman715
      @jamiegodman715 8 років тому

      Yes there is. And I'm sure SpaceX could build a large enough fairing on the falcon heavy to launch the B330. Bigelow is listed for a contracted launch on SpaceX's website. Bigelow just couldn't say that SpaceX will launch for them in the future with Tory Bruno standing right next to him. SpaceX could put ULA out of business by 2020 if ULA can't adapt and start innovating and design a reusable rocket of their own. And I mean more than innovation on paper or animated videos of their ideas.

    • @Nowhereman10
      @Nowhereman10 8 років тому +4

      They might build a fairing, but right now they do not and there is no official announcement of such a thing on SpaceX's part. Nor at this point has the Falcon Heavy, the only SX vehicle that can lift a BA-330 into orbit, is flying, and may not see its first flight until early 2017. All of which are big factors if you are a satellite provider or in this case, a space station module provider who has to decide which launch vehicle you are going to fly on when your module is ready to go in a few years.

    • @jamiegodman715
      @jamiegodman715 8 років тому

      Nowhereman10 Falcon Heavy will be in operation long before 2020, which is when the first B330 will fly. If you look on SpaceX.com under future missions you will find Bigelow Aerospace listed. This could be for crew and cargo flights. I'm betting Bigelow has already discussed a proper fairing for FH with Elon. Bob Bigelow is a business man and if he can save a hundred million launching on FH instead of ULAs rocket he will try.

    • @Nowhereman10
      @Nowhereman10 8 років тому +4

      You seem to miss my points. Even if the FH flies late this year or early 2017, it will still have a long while to go to prove itself as a reliable launcher. And you are just speculating, mostly based on your personal bias and preferences rather than looking at the reality of what has happened. If it was as you say, there would be no reason for Bigelow to have made this announcement with Bruno and ULA. It'd have been done already with Musk and SpaceX. And why did Bigelow bring up the fairing issue, if it was as easy and straight-forward as you seem to imply it is?
      And in the end, my point still stands; SX does not yet have such a fairing and no official announcements have been made, this despite the fact, that SX will need such a thing in the future to carry the largest NRO and military spysats that currently can only be lofted by the Delta-4 Heavy.
      As you are fond of saying in regards to ULA innovation; let's see this work on the fairing, otherwise it is a moot point.

    • @jamiegodman715
      @jamiegodman715 8 років тому

      +Nowhereman10 no I see your points. but I don't agree with them. the air force required 3 successful launches to get certified. commercial co only want 1. so how is it that after at least 3 years of launching FH you seem to think it won't bea reliable launch vehicle? it's not my personal bias, it's common sense. spacex will develop a large fairing for FH to launch B330's. it seems to me your the one with personal bias towards ULA!

    Love to see a B330 space station in moon orbit, and Lagrange point.
    Hell, you could put one with the James Webb Telescope.

      Looks like a communications relay or a probe.
      Also, any opinions on Bigelow Aerospace now that 2021 has arrived - taking this conference into account?
      Looking forward to hear from you, sir!

    If Centaur is the longest operating upper stage in the world, how come Breeze M can operate for over nine hours when delivering GTO sats? :)

    • @MrDavidCrane
      @MrDavidCrane 8 років тому +2

      +Mihailo Jovanovic The Briz-M Has a specific impulse of ~325, the Centaur has a specific impulse of ~450, ANd the Centaur provides a MINIMUM thrust FIVE TIMES GREATER than the Briz-M, so the Centaur is extraordinarily more fuel efficient. Further, the Centaur weighs in at 1/3 the weight, so more benefit is given to the payload. The Briz-M lifetime is 9.3 hours and is limited by its battery supply. The Centaur is limited to ~5.5 hours by its fuel.
      By longest operating, I think it was meant that the Centaur has been flying since 1962, the Briz-M has been flying since 1999.

    zefram Cochrane if you seen. Star trek first contact Zerfram Cochrane ues private funding to build his warp engine if you also seen Star trek Enterprise which a about 90 years later and a hundred years before captain Kirk when they developed the warp 5 engine Starfleet was very new otherwise as soon warp drive was worth Wild the government got back into the space program. You whatch if these companies get to take off are government will find some way tax these companies or anyone that colonizes space.
