The scariest part for me was Alice seeing her own death and the face of herself after drowning suddenly appearing infront of her.....very spine chilling and disturbing at the same time

@@ayeshayasin4409it's on the Tubi app. I just watched it. Don't waste your time. It was hot garbage.
The plot is that an emo drowned at the lake (may or may not have been a suicide). The parents are WAY too relaxed for people who just lost their child. The brother is a weirdo for faking his dead sisters "paranormal" videos. (Which you'd think the parents would've been mad about but la dee da to them I guess). And the neighbors are creeps (not in a scary way. Idk what the age of consent in Australia is so they may or may not be pedos). Alice (the dead emo) feels she can't speak to her parents. It's unclear why she feels this way. It's never explained as to why she's distant from her mother. It's never explained why she buried her stuff other than dad trying to reason it "as if it's some kind of ritual". And the doppleganger part made it super unclear what was going on until the tail end they say it's like the future came to haunt her. Kind if like final destination I guess?
Either way, don't waste your time. This movie is meant for people who are scared of their own shadows. The "scariest" part is the picture of the dead girls face laying on the slab. Not even the doppleganger was scary. It was just the normal looking girl.

I love this movie. I find it sad and fascinating at the same time how Alice basically came back as a ghost to help her family move on and to come clean with them. The fact that at the end we see that Alice's ghost was really there all along in all the footage and photos was bone-chilling.

A very raw and horrible thing to happen there I've been to lake mungo.
Years ago the lake had dried out due to drought and many indigenous bones where found they were from late to early last century where they shot, the aboriginal,s who speared there sheep as not seeing a sheep before it was a easy kill and a good feed.
The the local farmers came out and shot the Aborigines and threw there bodies into the lake so there is most definitely something very very paranormal like America you don't build around or near indian burial grounds if you don't know bad things happen as did here in Australia it was unfortunately a young life
    Cheers 😎🇭🇲🇺🇲🇲🇶

Thanks for clarifying. I watched it last night and couldn't tell what was going on as I could not understand the accents and the soft spoken actors, especially the mom. The music in the background was too loud. But it does look really good.

7:25 terrible take from the fictional cops. A minor cannot consent to sex with adults. At least in the U.S.

In Europe, the age of consent is 16 in many countries. I believe that is the case in Australia as well.

What worked amazingly well for this movie is the numerous shattering of the viewer’s expectations. First you expect a documentary relating a girl’s drowning, but then there’re uncanny photos of her ghost appearing, so now you expect something paranormal.
But then later, we learn it’s the brother who faked them, so now you’re a bit let down, thinking that, in the end, the movie has nothing paranormal. Thus letting your guard down.
The movie goes on for awhile, as a slow burn as it is, and then suddenly!
    You have THAT scene!
The grainy, blurry sight of Alice’s corpse, eerily floating towards her at full speed, with a sound design that perfectly compliments that gory sight if her body.
This scene comes in at a time you really stopped expecting anything. You don’t expect anything paranormal, you don’t expect any jumpscare, so in the end, it’s really effective!
It’s been so long since a movie scared the crap outta me!

Dude when it said based on true events did they mean someone drowned cause there is a lake in my homeland Ireland where the was a town inside the lake and then it got flooded and a legend is that a lake monster lived there because a woman was a murdered there and so many people drowned there
