My uncle is a mortician, 80% of the obese people who died that he prepared were below the age of 50. The youngest being 11 at 250 lbs dead from a heart attack. Please take care of yourselves and your kids.
Come on. Plots and lots. 4 lots in a plot. Or is it 4 plots in a lot? Hmmmmm. Fuck it just call it graves. I'm not going to investigate the terminology
I noticed this the other day I visited a cemetery there was a big piece of greener grass I hadn’t seen before with the headstone in the middle. I walked up to it out of curiosity and it was a family of four. The parents and two kids. Patches of green grass is a give away here for new graves. The cemetery doesn’t take great care of the grass so families who visit often water and seed the grass at their loved ones grave witch makes it for greener grass.
No joke cremation for the obese runs the risk of causing a serious fire. The excess fat causes what's essentially a grease fire. That's one of the reasons why they said options are limited in the video.
Was going to ask about the grave sites and size.. Probably bigger than 2 plots if someone is 600 pounds. Very sad.. Just realized comment 2 years old!! This just came recommended????? Weird
Its sad but true.. back in 1986 my than Sister in law 's youngest daughter (age 28) was laid to rest in a custom made Piano style casket. due to an infection (blood) in her huge legs that would never heal. She left behind 2 small boys and prior to that her twin brother was killed in their yard when he was 21. It took 8 men to move the casket After being rolled out to the hearse as well. what a sad day it was. She was an awesome Singer but she never was able to sing in church because she was shame of people looking at her.
This is so sad but thank god there is someone doing something for these people in need. We can only hope that we can help this from not being needed in the future.
The hearse could handle the weight. It's a serious question whether the hearse could handle the width of the casket though. And who carries this behemoth? I wouldn't want to kill my back because someone decided to grow to an insane size.
I had a obese family member who was cremated. Their was only one crematorium in the state that could handle his size, so he had to go by special ambulance ( which cost more) to get to the crematorium. I’m not sure but I think it cost more to cremate him because of his size.
Those caskets would make great beds. I could post a sticky note/paper on the top telling people that a living human inside is sleeping, I could roll around in the casket; just as long as the top doesn't fall while I get ready to sleep, I'm good.
I would hope there'd be a motorized machine to push the casket down the aisle. 8-10 men having to lift a dead fatass in the casket would be painful to watch.
Imagine 500 years from now some future archaeologists are digging up our dead bodies, and find these things .. We should start cremating to avoid the shame.
I was wondering what would happen when a morbidly obese person dies. So out of curiousity, I looked it up and didn't even realize that large, I mean BIG coffins exists. It'll keep growing and growing because of the obesity epidemic that's happening in the west. Large coffins probably only exist in the west because that's where the vast majority of fat people are. No other countries seems to have this. This fat acceptance movement sure is helping... helping this guy's business and it's making him some money. Imagine how expensive this shit is.
One thing is to accept & acknowledge your body being a bit bigger than other people's, and other is to love being obese which is an illness and a burden to you and your whole family.
I never thought about this subject before. Those caskets are huge and must cost a fortune! Good thing Mrs. Obama is working on helping our younger obese generation lose weight. I dont think people would be overweight if they ate natural, none/low processed foods. Eat all you want, but all that crap you read on the labels and dont even know what your eating is factually killing you.
My step sister passed away in 2021 from obesity, although she was over 400 lbs, and casket was larger, the funeral home did some fancy nipping and tucking to make her appear much thinner. I don't think she minded at all with the grin she had at viewing
Boy some of the cruel, insensitive remarks... Some probably made by people who have done horrible things in their lives and don't deserve the plot of land for THEIR remains.
This is very sad. I suppose burying a casket like this takes 2 spots in a plot. Being obese is expensive. While alive, it costs more for clothing, food, travelling on a plane and essentials. Moreover, it puts a strain on our health services. Then to top it off, it costs a bundle when you die. Maintain a healthy weight people !
I have a friend who is a funeral director and he orders caskets by width. But the bigger caskets cost more so people go cheap and want a standard sized one. Then when he has to squeeze the deceased into a too-small box they get mad at him.
Coffins for the obese costs more than the funeral itself. I don't know or not if you have heard of a man who owned the largest amusement park, called the River View. The man weighed close to 2000 lbs. When he died there was no coffin large enough to put his body in. The only thing was used to put the decedent in was a piano case.
What's shocking is not that we have double wide caskets but that it really took this long before somebody got the bright idea to make them. If there's a market for it, why would it take so long for somebody to come up with this?
These are actually kind of ok like if a couple gets in an accident together and they pass they can be buried literally together or if children in the same family pass they could be buried together so that way they aren't alone idk But if a heavy person needs it then they need it.
I bet many spouses don’t want to be buried inside the same casket if truth be known. It’s bad enough to be married for 20 years bickering and fighting and then have to spend an eternity together.
Hell, I want one of these!!! I can put more stuff in it to take with me to the grave!!! I can fit my dog in there with me... I could have them put my husband on ice and we could be buried together!!! FUCK YEAH!
Is there anyone out there reading these comments because the news lady said that one of the coffins that she was sitting inside of is about the size of a king size bed plus she says the casket is so huge that you could fit four of the newswoman or you could fit four of her inside of this one because I see that this industry is really booming involving the construction of these huge caskets and plus you would need a large piece of machinery to transport this thing to a cemetery whatever.
Ok, so what about the burial vault? That would also have to be large enough to accommodate the extra large casket. Does this company make large burial vaults too? The cemetery plot too as there is only so much space in the cemetery. Are the doors in the funeral home wide enough to allow a jumbo sized casket through? Finally what about pallbearers? It’s gonna take a lot more than 6 people to carry a 600 lb to 1,000 pound person! Lots to factor in here for a very large corpse.
Funerals are expensive to being with but uhhh now them funeral parlors will be ripping loved ones off double the amount and that casket doesn't even look comfy
@PaleHearse But the crematorium has to have fire jets and equipment that can handle the mound of flesh. As a nurse, I have dealt with some 400# to 680# patients and and the size considerations are truly astronomical. I'm not sure of the figures but the burn time for a corpse of that size would be very extended and what else have we got?
@daphnehatesderby An obese person cannot fit into a normal casket. As a funeral director, trying to squeeze a 300 pound person into a normal casket looks just wrong. The body is twisted, the arms cannot bend properly, and the face looks enlarged. Also the casket is not built to hold that weight. The handles break off, the bottom cracks and if you think a body dripping through the bottom seams during a church service is acceptable, buy the normal one.
It’ll take 2 years of decomposition for the body to be a full skeleton no longer requiring that amount of space I wonder if they get exhumed, put the skeleton in a smaller casket, and buried in a smaller hole to make room for others.
wow...thats a lot of fat.....why are we so hungry? bad upbringing? bad habits? poor diet? food and drink companies putting in additives that make you think your still hungry and thirsty? maybe all the above?
