Their chemistry was everything!
Halle is so beautiful that sometimes she takes my breath away just looking at a picture of her. She is the embodiment of a Disney Princess. Jonah was very charming in this movie and kind of resembled the cartoon Eric.
I don't care what anyone says, Halle did such an amazing job as Ariel. She potrayed Ariel's curiousity and naivety in a beautiful and adorable way. And the people who are still crying over her casting truly need to get over themselves when the director stated that once he saw her perform at the grammy's and called her to audition, she blew everyone else out of water. Yet people are still upset and calling it some "agenda". Anyway, she and Jonah did a great job bringing Ariel and Eric's chemistry to life. I'm super proud of her❤
I totally believe! I will always defend this movie. The hate was stupid, and the talent of Halle and the whole cast was not appreciated.

I enjoyed the movie so much I watched it twice in theatres. Halle and Jonah seem to have such a great friendship bond, so the chemistry really came through between their characters onscreen.

She has the black female entertainer curse, dating/being involved with someone who low-key is jealous of/hates her and will sabotage and abuse her whenever possible. But she grew up in an abusive household (really), so I'm not surprised. He could totally tank her career, though, and that includes music because no one is going to take a woman with an awful boyfriend seriously if their business is out on front street and she just keeps being like, "He's great." I'd consider myself a half-way fan of her. I only went to see TLM (multiple times at that) because of HER, and I think she's exceptionally talented in music.
But, yeah, it's a terrible look. She needs an intervention, an exorcism, something, before it's too late! Because Disney might be willing to give them a sequel despite underperforming (films gotta make a billion today to be seen as a success), but not if their star is out here being made a fool out of at every turn. It's frustrating.

I had such low expectations for this because it was just another 'live action' of an old story. I CRIED in this movie. It was so well done and the chemistry of the actors had everything to do with it. I saw it once and I dragged my son to see it with me a second time and he enjoyed it a lot.

Yesss love The Little Mermaid 🧜🏿♀️ these two were just soo amazing to watch on screen. Jonah seems like such a sweet man and he’s very intelligent. Halle is beautiful and an amazing singer. I wish her the best in her career and personal life. ❤ She strikes me as the type black woman that seems to only be interested in one type of man or guy and unfortunately not the best kind. Very sad but nothing we can do, it’s her life.
Hopefully she learns from her mentor beyonce and does better

This movie is VERY slept on! I think that if it had come out before most of the other live-action Disney films, it would have done better. I don't think it's all people being bigoted against Ariel being black because we have to admit that most of the live-action adaptations have gotten a subpar reputation. People aren't trusting Disney to deliver the quality right now, and that includes Marvel and Pixar films. People expect Disney films to be underwhelming and formulaic at this point. Furthermore, you have black female think pieces condemning the film, so they're not helping. But I think it'll do well on streaming once people give it a chance.
Anyway I LOVE this film and saw it 3 times in theaters and might see it once more if it's still here later this/next week.
