I liked that Eric was more fleshed out in the live action. He felt like he had purpose, frustrations and interest to learn more about cultures of the world rather than just a prince who likes adventure in the animation. Halle's voice felt so similar to Ariel. I thought she fit the character well!

I’m sorry Halle didn’t do it for me as Ariel.
The thing is Hollywood media and black Americans have called people overseas racists for rejecting this Ariel. For a live-action adaptation of an existing cartoon, of course fans would love to see characters as appeared in the cartoon come to life as real humans on screen, not something drastically different. Movies include both visuals and sounds. And a lot of people overseas choose to watch dubbed versions because they don't want to read subtitles. So to the visuals become even more important than Halle Bailey's singing voice.
@@goyam2981Yes, Halle's image is more important and it showed a perfect portrait of Ariel, she is not white or redheaded, but the attitude, the gestures, the emotion, she reflects everything.
I hope I’m not the only one bingeing Little Mermaid interviews and BTS! I held off on even watching the commercials til I saw the movie. Now that I’ve seen it (and LOVED IT), I can’t get enough of this cast🧜🏽♀️✨

10:12 That was literally me with every scene Halle and Jonah shared, their chemistry is off the charts also I love that Jonah is like Prince Eric had been brought to life but in an upgraded version.
I think what they added made the movie better! And the Halle and Jonah were absolutely perfect-it felt like they were really falling in love as they got to know each other.
I love that Halle made Ariel her own…she’s going to get so far in life…I can’t wait to see what life has in store for her.

I went into the movie not expecting much due to the prior Disney live action movies just not doing it for me compared to the original animated movies (specifically the live action remakes of beauty and the beast and the lion king).
But WOW Disney and the cast of the live action little mermaid DID the dang thing and straight SERVED us a fantastic movie and gave me everything i hoped that a live action version of a timeless Disney movie would be.
Melissa McCarthy deserves an Oscar award for her performance as Ursula; her acting was that GOOD!
I walked into the movie not expecting much from Melissa’s acting role as Ursula, and you can imagine how shocked I was to see Melissa not only knock her performance out of the ball park, but TRULY bring Ursula as a fictional character from a beloved animated movie to LIFE in the human flesh.
I dont even know how to describe how great and amazing Melissa’s performance was. I saw one commenter say that “Melissa was born for this” and that “Melissa was made for this role”, and yeah she was, i completely 100% agree with them. All the roads in Melissa’s life led to this role as Ursula, and let me tell ya, Melissa playing the role of Ursula in the live action version of the little mermaid was truly a match made in heaven. I feel silly for ever sleeping on Melissa by not expecting her to really give us anything in the movie prior to me seeing it.
Next, Halle Bailey also deserves all the awards she can get for incredibly talented performance of Ariel.
Halle is SO SO SO gifted at singing, her voice is honestly tear provoking as you listen to her sing. Its the same sensation as when you’re listening to a song that sparks your emotions within you and then allows you to get lost in the music and your thoughts as the song takes you to a deep place in your mind whether about the past, your future, your dreams, your emotions, your hopes, your fears, your present, your loved ones etc. thats how i can best represent how great and how talented Halle’s musical abilities are as a vocalist. She’s incredible.
To anyone who loves the original animated little mermaid movie, I highly highly recommend for you to see this movie.
Regardless of however you may feel about the movie before seeing it, or whether you think it wont be worth seeing because of the previous live action remakes of Disney’s classic movies, you will be 100% surprised at how GREAT this movie is and how WORTHWHILE it is to go and see it whether by yourself, with your kids, spouse, loved ones or friends.
You all know that feeling of walking out of the movie theaters after just seeing great cinema, right? Like how rewarding, satisfying, motivating, Or thought provoking watching excellent cinema can be and feel like right after you finish watching it as you walkout of the theaters reflecting on everything it is you just watched, and how good it feels to experience that since excellent movies with phenomenal acting in it are hard to come by. Well this movie is one of them that will leave you feeling like as you leave the theater after seeing it.
Its worth it to go see. 100%. Disney did it right this time; all of which is fantastic.

Jonah and Halle both nailed Eric and Ariel IMO. My only gripe is that they could have kept Eric’s contribution in defeating Ursula. Like that was pivotal in the original, he showed that he would go through lengths for his love for Ariel. She saved him, he saved her.
My boyfriend took me to see my favorite childhood movie come to life. I cried, laughed, smiled. I felt all the emotions. I disappeared into this fantasy for 2 hours. This movie was BEYOND GREAT!!

The casting was spot on. Halle Bailey's voice is exceptional. Ursula was fabulous. Loved this movie. Very well done live-action remake, now make another one with a new original story and the same cast!!
I wasn't expecting too much on the movie. But seeing the Halle transfoemed as a mermaid perfectly suited her more as it matches her skin color with the Ocean. Because I am Asian, and lives in a tropical Island (Philippines) I am used to see locals' brown skin color. It just so nice I think the settings fitted her perfectly.

5 days after this movie aired, I watched it VIP style with my little sister!!! I told myself, they very 1st time u do VIP, make sure its the right movie, & make sure u go with someone very special!!! The Little Mermaid was definitely the right movie, & treating my sister for her b-day VIP style was an amazing experience!!! The Disney movie version came out when I was 2 yrs old, & 34 years later they make the real life movie version!!! At 36 years old, I'm glad to know that I was around for this, I can never get tired of watching it, & its hands down the movie of 2023!!!

The joy, wonder , and astonishment of hearing how much our beautiful special needs adult daughter experienced over top astonishment for this amazing Hally Berry characterization if this film version of The Little Mermaid was heartwarming. Total meltdown fir us parents happened when she glowed and said, “I love her” as she gasped and hugged her 2 in 1 Little Mermaid doll after viewing the film. Because while she enjoyed the original animation version of The Little Mermaid, this version with Ms Berry, her beautiful voice and the outstanding cast, updated musical lyrics and the Disney magic was an excuse to fir a repeat viewing of this version. Thank you Disney for correctly choosing Ms Hally Berry to bring Little Mermaid to life. As a Mom & beautiful daughter who love all things mermaids, we are

Lack of something in the movie but, we cannot complain when it comes to character chemistry, the entire cast did soooooooo good. Each character own their craft. This is what a good chemistry on screen look like. It just comes naturally and don't need to hard edit. Should they have mermaid 2? Hmm......... yes. Her hair could be more red though. hehe.

I was hesitant to watch this movie because I was afraid of a “woke” Disney experience but I can truly tell that they casted based on PURE TALENT 💗✨ This entire cast was amazing and I laughed so much.
This movie was amazing. The cast was perfect especially Halle and Melissa. Being a huge fan of the original I was blown away. I've seen it twice already and dare I say it - BETTER than the original!

I think we need to get over her skin color and realize she is a very talented broadway style actress. That voice is ideal for the big songs in Little Mermaid. The cast of Jonah is equally brilliant, his strong tenor is again ideal for the Prince.

My favorite part was 100% Eric. His character development was phenomenal and the movie did a great job of making a deep, personal relationship between him and Ariel. It explored themes of infatuation vs true love and there was no doubt leaving the theatre that those two were going to live happily ever after. Their chemistry was perfect
I finally got to see this beautiful movie last week and I couldn't help but tear up because one it just so gorgeous and all of the artistic vision that went into it and I thought about Halle and all the backlass that the whole crew have had to go through the pass few weeks they don't deserve that there is nothing about this movie I would change the cast perfect the songs amazing everything from it is just incredible and whoever continues being judgemental needs to get a life
