- THE X-MEN ARE COMING TO THE MCU! Before the mutant team fully enters the fray, Coy Jandreau is here to tell you why characters should have solo movies before the live action of debut of the team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, more importantly, why Storm should be the first one to have a stand alone film. A lot of notes can be taken from X-Men '97 & of course, Marvel Comics, here we breakdown her origins and the importance. Absolutely yes. She's one of the greatest of the X-men and an amazing and deep character. She deserves her own movie.
I've been reading comics about Storm and damn I didn't even realize how powerful she was. She can even control all aspects of the atmosphere she increased the pressure on Thor around him to make the gravity heavier. She could quite literally make entire worlds uninhabitable by changing the atmosphere on Earth like the surface of jupiter.
As of now she can even freely travel in space manipulating the oxygen around her to do so.
It's not just Storm's raw power on par with Thor. It's her indomitable will whilst being the caring den mother of the team. AND she can also cut a bïtch when she needs to. Literally.
Will NEVER forgive Bryan Singer for putting Halle Berry in that godawful wig & stripping the character Storm of ANY gravitas or importance. Fox-Men sucked.
I am so happy people who don't read the comics can finally witness a fully realised Storm Ororo Munroe in all her human & goddess glory!!!!!!

Storm was actually born in Harlem, New York and relocated to Cairo, Egypt as a 6 month old. She lived there for her early formative years as a thief due to her parents being killed when a plane crashed into their home when she was a small child, that also instilled a once crippling claustrophobia (that’s she’s mostly worked through now.) She left for her ancestral homeland (Kenya) and nearly died while crossing the Sahara when her powers woke as a young teen.
Storm has always been my favorite X-man. She’s so regal and cinematic by her very nature and I just hope they can find someone to do her justice in live action!

Firstly I absolutely love your enthusiasm for Storm. It is great!
Secondly I believe storms story should really dive in to her rise to goddess. From being buried alive with her parents, living on the street, to the first person she killed to save her life and vowing never to do so again. Her connection to nature,the land and people. Her constant desire to help and bring about change for the good of all is essential. Throw in shadowking,charles and worship and we got ourselves a great movie

You're right. Storm is awesome, her origins and journey always inspired me. And her powers are definitely something you'd want to see explored more on screen. A storm origin movie would be amazing.

Have a Storm origin story with her facing her first antagonist,The Shadow King,who raised her as a their in Cairo before she escaped and made her way back to Kenya,where she was worshipped as a goddess when her powers emerged.

I agree that shadow king should be the first villian. I also think Charles should be in the movie trying to recruit her and also help her against the shadow king.
It's crazy and sad to think that Halle Berry had to fight for Storm to get more screen time on the X franchise.

The xmen is a universe on its own, there's so many characters that have their own past and character arch that you need to treat the xmen like the avengers. Storm is my favourite xmen, along side is night crawler and then gambit. Storm is so powerful and has such an amazing history she needs her own movie to help kick start the universe. I would love to see the introduction of the shadow King into a story line with Storm, that would be interesting. ❤

If marvel can find an actress that resembles the Iconic Supermodel Iman then they will have a perfect Storm - she will need to be able to act - of course. For the character gives a wide spectrum of emotions.

I agree with Storm having her solo movie, and then during the end credits have Professor X showing up like Nick Fury did in the MCU, and inviting Storm to join the X-men.

I feel like Coy's argument for a Storm solo movie is a better argument for why they should start with an Xmen movie with only the ORIGINAL team
Even the original team had their own backstories though, how are they going to do fleshed out backstories of each member of the team right in the same movie without everything feeling rushed?
@@siphosethumbaba7559 They should focus on the core team to start and a do a few of the Special Presentations for incoming characters like Storm, Gambit and Noghtcrawler. This way by the time they hit the movies we don't have to spend time on origins.

Do you mean the OG original team being Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman and Angel? Or are you referring to the 'All-New' Xmen that introduced characters like Wolverine, Storm, Nighcrawler, Colossus, etc.?
@@leeharrison8222 Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel and Iceman. They should start there and slowly build out. Eventually we get to all the others who are just as iconic but we should start with this team
Tbh, I think it’s be fairly easy to introduce Storm without the X-Men, because, like you said, she was a Goddess FIRST. The end of the movie can literally be her meeting the Prof, which would then introduce the idea of the X-Men. With her being one of THEE MOST recognizable comic book characters, a solo movie shouldn’t be difficult at all. It’s a matter of the studios being willing to do the movie. Period. Ororo has such a rich and intense origin story, the movie literally writes itself.
Correction tho, she was born in New York. Her mother is from Kenya. A princess in fact, but she moved to New York with the [African American] photojournalist she fell in love with. They then moved to Cairo, where her parents died. Imagine a movie starting off with a flashback/dream/memory of that tragedy. Wow.

After watching the 92 series to get ready for the continuation of it. I’ve grown more of a love and respect for Storm because damn she is awesome, powerful, and beautiful. This was a good watch and like what you’re spitting Coy 👍🏽.

@@Gus_MagnusI see Storm as being a bit older than a maximum of 30, like I could see her being between 30-40. Her being in her 20's like you suggest makes her feel a bit too young to me, I feel that's a better age for someone like Iceman or Jubilee or potentially even someone like Rogue or Kitty.
DeWanda would be good as Storm. If not her I could see Jodie Turner-Smith in the role as well.
I always got a maternal feeling from Storm, something I wouldn't imagine in a 20 something. I always thought she was around 35.
@@Gus_Magnus sure, most X-Men start out as teens/young adults when they first join, but that doesn't mean every single character must be around that age in the movie. Storm's story already has her as 25 or so when she first joins the X-Men, so unless the X-Men movie is going to be Storm's first day on the team she's probably been part of the team for a while making 30-40 work better as an age for her. You also have to remember that she has to be old enough to believably be an educator, team leader, and mother-like figure to the younger members of the team, which doesn't work all that well if she's in her 20's like you suggest.

I've said it once and I'll say it 1000x! You want to save the MCU? Center it around the X-Men. No more Avengers or multi-verse. Just X-Men. THAT'S the big Team Up movie.
The key word you used is "centered" but some of what you said could contradict the idea of "saving" the MCU if "no more Avengers" actually applies to the new state.
You are right that the mutant struggle will give a fresh and richer set of story motivators to the MCU, but it wouldn't be the MCU if it's only the X-Men in focus. So I'm with you somewhat, but with this tweak below [edit: I should clarify here that "saving" is subjective and all the MCU really needs is a focus on quality again, which I think they'll get with the restoration of Feige's autonomy and slowing of projects; but the X-Men bring new interest].
The X-Men should be treated as a marquee franchise. The quality and care put into its story building should be top notch so they can use their full potential to meet or exceed the Avengers status. With them as a big draw, all other franchises should continue to have a place, and most of them could use a Mutant or 2 in their midst, on their teams, as some of their antagonists, etc. giving that central connection to X-Men. *That way you're actually "saving" (reigniting) the MCU, not just saving Marvel Studios* (because there's a difference - having just the X-Men in focus wouldnt be the MCU, it would be Fox 2.0).
That cleared up, I think there's even a place for the multiverse long term, but it shouldn't just be this wild west, where nothing sticks because time travel and multiverse can always undo or present another version of X, Y and Z character.
I wouldn't say all of that. I love THE AVENGERS and I still want to see more movies based on those characters. That being said it is time for The X-MEN to take the stage in The MCU. P.S. The MCU does not need saving, in my opinion. It just needs more focus on character development for all of its awesome heroes and villains.

I think there should be a disney plus special presentation series in animated medium. Each episode around 45-60 mins. They'll have the origin stories told of each individual mutant. And then finally ending with how Charles recruited them.
Nd then, have them move into live action on the big screen on their first solo movie.

@@TioJones-lm1zi yeah so the is kind of inspired from James Gunns plan fr DCU. Coz he wants to tell connected stories in both live action and animated medium. That gives us chance to be more immersive in the world building. So we could introduce the X men properly through individual episodes with the same voice actors cast who'll portray those characters in live action.
That would work for some of them, but many of the larger ones like Storm, Cyclops, Gambit, etc. would work better as a 90-120ish minute movie.
I would rather have live-action Special Presentations.

I like the idea of doing an X-Men movie first, maybe call it The Uncanny X-Men, with the OG team and establish them a la GOTG. Then do a couple of solo movies introducing new characters and being recruited, further expanding the team before doing another X-Men movie.
She has always been my favorite xmen and I would love a solo movie with her.

Storm deserves her own movie simply because it is FAR OVERDUE! Also, I've said this before and I'll say it again, one of the movies should be titled "Mistress of the Elements".
Also, if they ever have the nerve to do the Dark Phoenix story right, which includes NOT hopping over The Phoenix Saga like it never happened, Jean Grey would have an equally cinematic portrayal.

Storm is the most important mutant of all! Her story and how they are writing her in the current comics 'Fall of X' (X-men 97) and that whole series is truly astonishing. She deserves her shine!

That was inspired by your idea on Kristian Harloff's show, when you were speculating about how Jane would get Mjolnir. I know this is random in terms of normal importance but... just thought you might like to know.
*Edit:* I got a new idea for the airport battle in Civil War from a comment on the UA-cam video saying they didn't understand why Iron Man's team just didn't destroy The Helicarrier, and I got an eel amygdala idea for Electro from the shark amygdala affecting King Shark in The Flash TV show too.
Ayo Edebiri cast as STORM in the MCU could be a jaw dropper in excitement. She couldn't do Thunderbolts because of scheduling with The Bear

I disagree. Solo then team up works for avengers because they were solo heroes that join forces for a bigger threat they can't deal with alone. X-Men was always about being a team, and a school for gifted children to learn how to control their powers and survive in a world that fears them. Having solo movies first defeats the purpose of the school etc.. X-Men needs to start as an ensemble movie series before solo and small team up movies occur.
I would say Cyclops personally. He was done the dirtiest in the first go and people are only now realizing how much more there is to the character

I think it will be the most effective way to introduce her and will lead to her having impact later in the series. With the right actress and a solid script her story can be a great movie.
The voice actress for Storm in X-men 97 has the perfect voice for her on the big screen.

The fact that Storm killed a man at the age of 12 for trying to molest her before her powers even kicked in before trekking accross the Sahara desert to escape her childhood as a thief. She trusted that man to give her a ride and instead drove to a remote location and tried to take advantage of her…she did what she had to do and was the only one that came out of that car alive. She vowed to never kill another human again. Such a merciful woman
