Chaplin showed the chops way before, even Less Than Zero, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Natural Born Killers, Weird Science were distinctive characters that put him up there for people. Hell, Tropic Thunder was more of the takeoff at the time for his "comeback" than Iron Man. The dude has talent.

That was an odd choice of actors to play Dangerfield's kid. Was he the son of the producer or something? He wasn't photogenic nor was he a good actor. He was too short, not very good looking, and didn't exactly have a magnetic personality. It really felt like a stretch having that tall, good looking girl take any interest in him. In reality she would have shrugged him off in 10 seconds.
