My eyes absolutely *bulged* when you pulled the bumpers off of these. When 60406 and 60415 both didn't have them earlier this year, I was positive they'd abandoned the system.
It’s awesome seeing non-Speed Champions LEGO cars step up their game, the 3 cars here definitely look better than something that would’ve released a few years ago in City
This set and the new Jurassic World sets show that Lego has figured out how to make 6-peg wide vehicles that can still sit two minifigures side by side, which is great
I really love that Lego is putting openable engine bays into more and more vehicles. I really hope they continue this trend. It really adds to the play value.
For sure, this set is meant to be a continuity for the previous set 60389 Custom Car Garage, that's why there is space for two more cars at the bottom of the trailer and the possibility to change fronts and rears of all vehicles.
Designer from speed champions team now switched to city and his influence is visible. I like trailer shape, its perfect. But maybe you are right that its too much for kids, seems a bit more model for AFOL
I think it's a good call with those three car inspirations. Obviously not replicas for legal reasons but as close as they could get and have plausible deniability. Good review, if I see this on sale I might be tempted.
That lorry to me looks amazing! Definitely my favourite looking Lego city lorry they've made without even taking into consideration the fact that the cab can go forward to work on the engine! To me it looks like some type of Scania very cool :)
Sooo good to see this bumper switch feature continue, and this truck and trailer looks amazing. I dont usually go for City stuff because it often feels like too much stuffed into a budget so things need to be cut back, but this set flourishes under its $100 price point. Thats a lot of cash, but it looks very worth it to me
I just stumbled upon your fantastic channel, as I was looking for a set for my son. Thank you for your detailed and thorough reviews. It has probably been said a million times, but you are the Bob Ross of Lego. Cheers from Denmark.
Crazy it's about the price of the harbour set. The difference is the harbour makes things a bit smaller to fit it all in, while this goes huge to fill the budget. I could imagine a car transporter with a slightly smaller trailer and only 2 cars for £60, while as-is it's just unnecessarily big and expensive.
Thanks Jang, always a pleasure to watch you review and comment on Lego sets. I'm surprised with the changing of front and back, and can imagine myself as a kid making several extra front and back modules to play with changing the look of the cars, modding it. Nice feature to be brought back. ❤
That truck looks great, and the fact that it can lift up to reveal some engine detailing is real nice. I made a truck MOC of my own at the same 6-wide scale that can do the same, but its not done anywhere near as elegantly as this lol. Wasn't expecting the trailer mechanism to work so simply, that's pretty nice. The cars look quite good, the slammed one especially, and I'm very glad to see they've kept the interchangeability around, hopefully they'll keep it around even past this set too. All in all this looks like a really great set. Thanks for the equally great review as always JANG :)
That is wickedly cool, the kid in me loves it, the adult in me is trying to stop me from running out and buying it since I've spent too much on Lego this month.
I'm not a city buyer, but this is something I'd seriously consider for my modular city. I'm glad LEGO has brought a decent amount of detail into these sets so that they appeal to both younger and older fans.
When I started looking at those Lego sports cars, I was drooling over them (even if the rear wheels are wrong). And the interchangeable parts are genius!
11:53 Just a note, in the UK, you can pick this up for £79.99 in Smyths Toys which makes it even better value for money. It's what I did, and I'm happy with what I got for that money.
fun fact: about 2 years ago, lego made a similar car transporter for only 30 dollars. while it only came with one car, the size of the truck was quite similar in size. it's called 60305
In Poland it was already available for ~77$ after tax and it normally available for ~82$. I would expect that it will hit 65-70 bucks at some point. It is a great set!
Yes! This is the set I was looking forward to the most in the August Wave! I do believe this is the first full-sized car carrier we've gotten in City! I remember some in Technic or Creator or both, but not City. Also, very cool that the cars have the removable front and back ends and also engines seen in previous sets. Good call on what the cars are inspired by. The slammed Merc was definitely a factor in my buying the set. And turns out its driver minifigure looks like me! :D Also, I didn't realize the 'Cuda was purple until I opened the bag. I thought it was dark blue. So, all around, I'm very pleased with this set.
Just commenting to let you know I agree with your breakdown of what the lego cars were inspired by. The first one especially. I was thinking it even before you said it. 😂 The rest of them were a bang on match as soon as you've shown the pictures. I also wanna say I think it's cool that all of these lego cars were designed to represent cool cars and not just featureless "filler" for the trailer. I really appreciate the extra effort that's gone into the cargo 😅
I like the set and have bought one myself. The thing i like most is that LEGO apparently finally made a standard for the fifth wheel. I have all 3 trucks for this year and they all can swap trailers - something LEGO havent done ever before (each truck had its own coupling that wasnt compatible with any other trucks), and i hope they continue to make semi trucks with this as standard. I wonder where they got inspiration from for the truck though - i get Renault vibes when i look at it.
I really want this but I’ve got such a small city that I don’t know if it’s needed, not to mention I have the 2022 cargo train which has the similar car carrier
The purple vehicle reminded me a lot of Brick Daddy's vehicle from Space Police III! I don'r think its meant to be a nod or anything but its cool eithrr way haha
I hope TLG gets the Mazda license one day soon for Speed Champions. Never saw any of the F&F movies, but now I need to look that car up as I'm a big Mazda/rotary engine fan! This set was not on my radar, but it is now. Well designed and I definitely see Mopar in the purple and that old custom Marc! Wow! This is a slick set!
So, as a concept, the swappable bumpers is a great idea. But in practice the color mismatch just makes me only want to keep the bumpers on the intended cars. Maybe it’s more fun for young kids.
Maybe kids care more about that kinda stuff nowadays, but when I was a kid everything I built looked like an explosion in a crayon factory. Nevertheless, even if the kids do care about the colours, the system incentivizes them to build their own custom bumpers since you just need some clip pieces to attach them.
I really like the size of the set. It'd feel wierd if it could only carry 3 cars (or even just 2, since some people think it should've been that small). 5 cars is the perfect amount to not feel too rediculous for a lego set, nor too empty with only the cars in the set, while still feeling like a realistic capacity.
A really good design for the truck and a great design for the cars. I really like the 2 classic cars. Not just these modification systems, but LEGO bringing back the back of the box alternate builds would really help with getting kids to build stuff outside the instructions. I don't know why LEGO ever stopped doing that.
When I first saw this set, I thought it was terribly overpriced. $100 for 3 small cars, 4 minifigs and a semi with a trailer? Now I see that the builds are beautiful and intricate and it has a great play value. Still, $80 feels like a justified and psychologically comfortable price.
My thoughts on this set now that I've seen the review - I feel that the set is the size it has to be to do what it sets out to do. It is, in a nutshell, a realistically proportioned car transporter for Lego City 6-wide+fenders cars, of the kind that has been standard in most city sets for the past two decades. Every previous car transporter has "cheated" by using the smaller 4-wide+fenders construction, but those are getting rare in new sets. If it was made narrower, it would have to include narrower cars, and not be able to carry any of Lego's sold separately or included-with-buildings cars; if it was shorter, it wouldn't be realistically proportioned and look stubby. I can basically see this as the culmination of "I wish this would take my other cars" by kids.
I was hesitating to get this but today I found it on Amazon for £59,99 so I went ahead and ordered it. Honestly I would love to see a rig that could hold some 8 stud wide cars.
Great review! I don't like the chassis pieces, which make so much of the bottom of the car. I wish the whole structure could be brick-built. Even more so with Speed Champions. But this set looks excellent to me. Great to see the extra hairpiece, and the colors are all great. Yay purple!
I picked this up reduced to £60, and that price point feels more comfortable. If you priced the cars at £9 if sold as separate builds, £30ish for the truck feels about right though I feel they should have still included *something* to make it a more comfortable purchase at £90 rrp. Maybe an additional car, or a sidebuild of a petrol/gas pump or even an extra fig to fit in the cab as it seats two.
I agree with the purple car being a cougar idk why but for some reason I thought the orange car looked somewhat like a porsche taycan but I get what u mean with the rx7 I can see that aswell and 100% agree with the custom slammed car personally im a big car guy and love those cars and the other cars and speed champions and I also love helicopters planes and all that kinda thing so lego city and I love dinosaurs aswell so I love lego jurrasic world and city sets I absolutely love
for some reason I've completely ignored these 3 absolutely fantastic cars until now. They were just set dressing for this truck I feel meh about, but they're at least 40% of the value here.
I don't like six stud wide vehicles. I get that they work with all the Lego City sets better. I get that they are probably more cost effective for a kid's toy. But, the Speed Champion proportions are what I feel are true mini fig scale vehicles. If the toy has to represent what a car should look like , then you have to at least have a space for a driver and a passenger. As always, great video though.
This one looks a lot nicer and a lot more detailed than the last one; but then that's no surprise and should be expected when it's around three times the price of the last one! And that's really my issue with this set, that we had a Car Transporter from the City theme only three years ago, set 60305 which only had one car and was generally a smaller set as it could only hold three cars. But it was substantially cheaper at $30/£25 at the time which was great value for a City set at the time when almost every City set was overpriced. It wasn't flawless though as it was very bland set in design and colour scheme. I agree, knocking 25% to 30% off for this would be more acceptable; it's just too much when positioned next to the Lego Yellow Delivery Truck and Mobile Crane which offer more value for the same price or not much more.
Easily the best car transporter they ever made, but the, price, oh, the price! Even though this has a lot of pieces, ceompare price an piece count to other LEGO sets with equal (or close to) these numbers...
My eyes absolutely *bulged* when you pulled the bumpers off of these. When 60406 and 60415 both didn't have them earlier this year, I was positive they'd abandoned the system.
Given the nature of the cars, this one definitely feels like a follow up on 60389
custom car garage has the swappable bumpers and I'm tempted to get the extra parts from that set involved with these to see what one can come up witb
Can't belive Lego did not give a coffee mug for the truck driver.
"I'm gonna share my opinions about these cars whether you like it or not 'cause that's the way I roll." - paraphrasing JANG.
It’s awesome seeing non-Speed Champions LEGO cars step up their game, the 3 cars here definitely look better than something that would’ve released a few years ago in City
Could've been an $80 set
This set and the new Jurassic World sets show that Lego has figured out how to make 6-peg wide vehicles that can still sit two minifigures side by side, which is great
Lego have gotten absolutely incredible at making cars recently what with these and some of the recent speed champions sets
I'm actually blown away
The truck looks like our European Renault trucks. They've been designing them like that since Magnum in mid 90. And I love the cars' designs.
I really love that Lego is putting openable engine bays into more and more vehicles. I really hope they continue this trend. It really adds to the play value.
Nice photo work showing the real cars after the lego version. Great review as always!
Putting engines to work on in so many of these sets is an elite play feature. My brother and I would have all over that back when we were kids.
I wish they’d make a trailer big enough to accommodate Speed Champion cars
I need one without the cars to hold all the other accumulated cars.
That lorry to me looks amazing! Definitely my favourite looking Lego city lorry they've made without even taking into consideration the fact that the cab can go forward to work on the engine! To me it looks like some type of Scania very cool :)
This makes me really nostaglic for tiny turbos. It has the spirit of that line.
Sooo good to see this bumper switch feature continue, and this truck and trailer looks amazing. I dont usually go for City stuff because it often feels like too much stuffed into a budget so things need to be cut back, but this set flourishes under its $100 price point. I just stumbled upon your fantastic channel, as I was looking for a set for my son. Thank you for your detailed and thorough reviews. It has probably been said a million times, but you are the Bob Ross of Lego. Cheers from Denmark.
$100 is a lot but at least you can use the truck with other cars in your collection. Should add play value for kids there.
Man! Lego City is killing it this year! Banger after banger coming out! Great video again Jang... Thanks!
Quite an improvement over the previous one! My son will love it!
That purple car reminded me of the Inspector Gadget love action movie car
I just re-watched the Gadget trailer: the car I remember being purple was actually pearl white. Wow
@@iFish12 You are not bad reminded: In Inspector Gadget 2, Gadgetmobile was purple n_n
Crazy it's about the price of the harbour set. The difference is the harbour makes things a bit smaller to fit it all in, while this goes huge to fill the budget. I'm surprised with the changing of front and back, and can imagine myself as a kid making several extra front and back modules to play with changing the look of the cars, modding it. Nice feature to be brought back. ❤
The bumpers coming of is brilliant. My nephew would absolutely love that function.
I think the Mercury could look better with the non-spoke side of the wheels.
Great video and thank you for your content.
That truck looks great, and the fact that it can lift up to reveal some engine detailing is real nice. I made a truck MOC of my own at the same 6-wide scale that can do the same, but its not done anywhere near as elegantly as this lol.

All in all this looks like a really great set. Thanks for the equally great review as always JANG :)
I do agree with the veil side rx7 opinion from Jang, the only thing that doesn’t suggest the veil side rx7 is the headlights.
That is wickedly cool, the kid in me loves it, the adult in me is trying to stop me from running out and buying it since I've spent too much on Lego this month.
and now i want to buy it ....
Studs definitely help define a LEGO product.
This set is really nice, good variation and choice of cars.
Ultra Magnus's lil bro
I'm not a city buyer, but this is something I'd seriously consider for my modular city. I'm glad LEGO has brought a decent amount of detail into these sets so that they appeal to both younger and older fans.
Great review like always! I think whole set has excellent design and looks impressive (except stickers). All cars looks fantastic.
When I started looking at those Lego sports cars, I was drooling over them (even if the rear wheels are wrong).
And the interchangeable parts are genius!
Thanks Jang for the always great none bias reviews. Really want this set but don't have the room to put it for obvious reasons
Love your channel dude. Been waiting for your take on this one!
Oh this looks awesome! Love that the interchangeable bumpers are back!
The cab sticker color match is amazing - seems TLG can in fact do good color matching with stickers when they put their mind to it!
Love those fancy cars!!
5:06 speeeeaaaaking of Veilside RX7...😁
The orange car looks like an Aston Martin to me for some reason. Definitely agree on the other two!
i agree with your car opinions, as a car enthusiast myself i see the similarities you are hinting at. Love the cars given in this set
11:53 Just a note, in the UK, you can pick this up for £79.99 in Smyths Toys which makes it even better value for money. It's what I did, and I'm happy with what I got for that money.
Gundam, Star Wars, Lego.. mannnnnn.. I love them as well as you do. Nice review as always ❤🎉
They Nailed It With This Lego City Set

Definitely should be like 75ish, if I pick it up I’ll definitely be waiting for 70 or lower
I never knew the cars did the switch front and back thing. That's so great!
I like the set and have bought one myself. The thing i like most is that LEGO apparently finally made a standard for the fifth wheel. The 50s car reminds me of the Burger Truck set
Where would the driver sleep?

3:35 That’s really cool how that works 🙂
So, as a concept, the swappable bumpers is a great idea. But in practice the color mismatch just makes me only want to keep the bumpers on the intended cars. Maybe it’s more fun for young kids.
its great to simulate maintenance situations
It is a city set so yh it's really for kids

Nevertheless, even if the kids do care about the colours, the system incentivizes them to build their own custom bumpers since you just need some clip pieces to attach them.
I agree, but I find it’s easier to modify yourself a bumper or rear with this current system.
But you can also make your own custom bumpers and swap them with ease.

Bang on as always Jang!
Love this set! When it's on sale I'll be sure to pick it up so I can swap pieces with my other cars that use the fantastic clip system!
Omg Jang saying Mopar, I would never have imagined that this would happen 😆
Swapping the bumper parts kind of reminds me of Matchbox Connectables from back in the 80ies :D
Need a version for the 8 wide speed champions.
The rig driver is deffo Brad Pitts character Tyler Durden from "Fight Club" 😂😂😂
A really good design for the truck and a great design for the cars. I really like the 2 classic cars.
Not just these modification systems, but LEGO bringing back the back of the box alternate builds would really help with getting kids to build stuff outside the instructions. I don't know why LEGO ever stopped doing that.
I just wish it came in an 8 stud width. Would have been an excellent accessory for my speed champions collection
I've noticed that the all-important coffee mug disappeared at some point 😐
Remember when a simple 4-stud wide car did the same thing, with doors that opened as standard?
Looks amazing fun set love the open front truck nice cars awesome review jang 👍
This set with interchangable bumpers reminds me of NINJAGO like what they do with the elemental mechs where you can interchange their arms, legs, etc.
60389 Custom Garage also had the removable bumpers. Were there any more sets? They might all be from the same designer.
@@mikaxms Since the release of the custom garage, almost all New City cars have the same bumper build, so you can swap as most as you want!
When I first saw this set, I thought it was terribly overpriced. $100 for 3 small cars, 4 minifigs and a semi with a trailer? Now I see that the builds are beautiful and intricate and it has a great play value. Still, $80 feels like a justified and psychologically comfortable price.

Always like your background. Any chance of getting a closer look at it and how the lighting is done?
Will speed champions fit? Both 6-8 stud wide?
I was hesitating to get this but today I found it on Amazon for £59,99 so I went ahead and ordered it. Honestly I would love to see a rig that could hold some 8 stud wide cars.
One minor caviat would be the Missing Doors, at least for me :)
I'm thinking maybe I need to make use of that custom bumper system in my own car designs.
Great review! I don't like the chassis pieces, which make so much of the bottom of the car. I wish the whole structure could be brick-built. Even more so with Speed Champions. But this set looks excellent to me. Great to see the extra hairpiece, and the colors are all great. Yay purple!

Maybe an additional car, or a sidebuild of a petrol/gas pump or even an extra fig to fit in the cab as it seats two.
I saw this set at Media Markt (german Mediastore) for 78€. That's a price for this set I'm ready pay^^
Got the white one up on my window, might have to get this one
I agree with the purple car being a cougar idk why but for some reason I thought the orange car looked somewhat like a porsche taycan but I get what u mean with the rx7 I can see that aswell and 100% agree with the custom slammed car personally im a big car guy and love those cars and the other cars and speed champions and I also love helicopters planes and all that kinda thing so lego city and I love dinosaurs aswell so I love lego jurrasic world and city sets I absolutely love
I like the design of the set. I feel like the cars could pass as Speed Champion cars, back when those were 6 wide.
A classic case of Lego releasing something excellent that's objectively a good value but is too expensive for the target audience to afford
that orange car build looks like a minor variation on the car with hover attachments build they did
for some reason I've completely ignored these 3 absolutely fantastic cars until now. They were just set dressing for this truck I feel meh about, but they're at least 40% of the value here.
Why is Lego no including the actual seat piece in their sets.
Without the roof, and spoiler, the purple one kinda almost looks like, Mario and Luigi’s “Pimped out ride”, from Robot Chicken.😂
Can you attach the bumpers on the rear clips of the cars? And can you attach the rear parts on the front?
This is pretty much the perfect set for multiple kids in a family.
Now I really want a special transport truck with this new trend
i like the yellow and black car.
Easily the best car transporter they ever made, but the, price, oh, the price! Even though this has a lot of pieces, ceompare price an piece count to other LEGO sets with equal (or close to) these numbers...
