Elaboration on the chat log and why I considered it real:
The chatlog happened to take place exactly one day after the bugged spike from Potty on Harmonia was taken away. If he faked it, the player had to know this exact day from an obscure event almost 10 years ago, which is very hard to find. Besides, most readers would never even notice this connection which makes the effort to fake it useless.
PM I received: "The chatlogs with the GM may or may not have been fake but GM themselves aren't given any specific knowledge about quests or secrets like this. In my time playing, I had/have quite a few very close GM friends (to the point where we had met in person). They were just regular players with free premium and a cape. Even had the pleasure of meeting Knightmare once or twice on test servers, who took me on a tour of the old PoI quest. Whether the quest ever existed, still does or has been removed, the GM was talking out of their ass."

Stuff like this is why I fell in love with this game so many years ago. I wish there were more people like you that are interested in things like this instead of just straight up leveling 24/7. It's clear that you put real time and effort into making this into a great video with sources and everything.
remember the dragon skeleton on the tutorial island? the game didnt need quests, it made its own story.

12-13 years ago from now on, we've gathered a large group of people (Danubia server) to check every corner of the whole map, to see what exactly happens with Spike Sword when you step on those 2 tiles. I had to search the area with Orcs (north-west) with 5 or 6 other guys. When the Sword disappeared, a guy right next to the Spike Sword "islet" shared a message that it's gone so we can start rummaging whole Rookgaard... And we did so, after 5 minutes Sword managed to appear again, which was actually weird because it used to disappear for much longer than it did that day. Alright then, we'll try to catch up what just happen and who made it appear again, since we were 30 or even 40 people and we were spreaded on whole map (Dark Gladir as a main leader) it was difficult to find out who did it, but well, we've tried again, but it never appeared again so fast. With the exact moment when Spike Sword disappeared some people were claiming different things, that the rocks just got removed, but pointlessly, because it led to nowhere, the other guy said that trolls under Rookgaard farm stopped to attack him, the other guy said that he saw "yelling NPC text" coming out from the wolfs cave to the north-east "The past is gone" or something similar and also the guy from my group found fire on this Orc-Altar surrounded by those big stones (north-west) ...it disturbs me so much till this day. Seriously, we've been running around like crazy for more than 2 hours, but in the end I think that was just a biggest CipSoft prank to keep us thinking that we could get the Sword as a reward. Shame they didnt do anything with this quest and later on removed Rookgaard completly.

lol yeah it's already been said but rook was never removed.. they just made it so it's an optional starting area as long as it's not your first character.
If no one actually saw the moment it reappeared, it was probably a sector refresh that was just well timed.

dude, thank you so much for that video with a lot of informations. i started to play tibia back in 2003. i already stoped playing, still got my account. i sometimes go online just to look what changed again, no more friends left. no more "noobs" left, too much high levels now... 500+++
but sword of fury is still a friggin' mystery, like warlord sword, "excalibug" or magic longsword. i hope it will be a mystery forever and not just a quest to get. (like golden boots now at some bosses)

I've stopped playing Tibia like 7 years ago, and started around 2003. Every year I search about the SoF, to find out if the mistery has been solved. It seems it will never, but the anxiety and the expectations about it, will be a memory I'll save for the rest of my life. Thanks for the video, man.

I have never played nor really heard of this game till recently but this whole thing is really interesting. I love how the mystery of some things were able to be kept alive back in the day.
I have 23 years old now, but this mistery its on my mind since i was 8 yo , i will continue waiting for the discover until the day i day. Wish cipsoft someday tell us something true

Years and freaking years of chasing sword of fury only resulted in severe depression, existential crisis and ptsd. I also had nightmares in which I obtained the sword just to wake up crying realizing it was impossible. I did figure out how to make sof re-appear after you made it disappear and the only conclusion I got from it was : I did touch the sword but I returned it on the island because I was humble.
This is such a good video. One detail they missed, though, is that there's a cave in Rookgaard's premium area that has a blocked off path with a sign that reads: maze of fury. Because of the word fury, I think it's a pretty obvious nod to the sword and its quest.
I know Cipsoft doesn't care about Rookgaard, but I appreciate they kept it accesible after Dawnport and hopefully one day they'll decide to bring back the quest or have the mystery solved by avid players

The complete 7.7 server that was hacked (Zelena or w/e the world was named) is released on OTLand. The actions file (for quests) doesn't unfortunately contain any quest for SoF. The date modified is correct to the date the files were hacked, unless. The hacker whos name I wont mention, edited it out and modified the last modified date to make it look unmodified.
Neither the NPCs, Map or quest file does not contain any SoF quest as of version 7.7 (unless its modified and hidden as I explained)
The walking on tiles to make the sword disappear, just changes the fire around it, removes the sword, sends a magic effect and then changes a water tile. The water tile I believe is used as a "control" tile, as if the waterID doesnt match, it wont remove SoF and all that. Only if the water tile is its original ID, it will remove the sword.
The water tile changed has no special actions connected to it anywhere, so that has nothing to do with it either, sadly.
Hope it sheds some "light" on some things.
So the sword was available (if it ever was) before 7.7 or implemented later as in 7.7, it wasnt obtainable.
Unfortunately you may be right. I think he edited files. In theese files Avar Tar has nothing to say about Rookgaard or Minotaur Mage.

So happy to see all informatios about Sword of Fury in one place. Actually waiting for another content about Tibia realm, which I belive is super interesting.
To me, this make sense. The quest was removed in that update that expanded Rookgaard and added the island to the west. The sword on an island is a memorial after the quest they removed.
But they forgot to remove the Dalheim reference, so they removed it later.
But SoF came along when rook got expanded.
@@dragoviano He's saying SOF was a reward for a rook quest created with rook initially, but the quest was removed before anyone solved it, and the sword that we see today was placed on the island as a memorial to the quest they deleted.

TibiaReklav hello, I am the guy who made the subititles in Portuguese, I realised I translated wrong just one ord in the whole video, at 5:31 ( the Minotaur scroll part) the sentece: Never again I will swear in the presence of the holy Mage... the word swear actually means in portuguese "chingar" rather than "jurar" in this context. I loved this video! I've been searching that sword since I started to play Tibia, back in the version 7.4/6.
There's a few things you missed... Knightmare talks about the SoF at an interview in 2004. Later, Chayenne (CipSoft member) talked in an interview giving some possible clues related to the quest and a content added some years later (the interview was at 2006). Those interviews were publicated at tibianews, with wayback machine webpage you still can find them. Also, you forgot to mention that Dixi was able to buy brass armors... who dropped brass armors at Rookgaard? ;3

And... If I remember clearly, I've read in an new interview to Knightmare, that they are not going to add new content to the island. So... I believe it's the end. Hope it's real history/lore comes public some day, I can't die without knowing...
Interesting. People indeed have referenced that old Knightmare interview many times. I looked for it with the wayback machine during the research but the page wouldn't load, which is why I couldn't share it as a fact.
I have not heard before of Dixi buying those armors or the Chayenne interview before!
And as for the files, that indeed means the quest would have been removed earlier. And with knightmare saying that.....it's Cipsoft we are talking about haha

All i know is this once incident happen when it was 1 hour from server save..... the pillars at wolves and orc spearman... the pillars had flames on top of them... yes ON top!!! then the spikesword island fires dimmed... and the sword disappeared... and when i went to minotaur hell... minomage was dead. so far i still cant figure out but one day ill figure it out

Ive seen other videos about the SoF but this one is the best,i even learned stuff i didnt know. But i cant stop thinking about something,"The maze of fury",i wonder how it was supposed to be.
Yes, the quest was, they did it in 2020, teleporting items from mainland with the help of knowledge from Avar Tara to the rook, that's why it is so sad that only the humble will get this sword.
Sof is a great mysterious of tibia,maybe one day someone will be able to unravel this for as long as we are left with the imagination. Nice video :)

If at this point no one figured this out, I doubt anyone ever will, assuming that there even is something to be figured, which I don't believe to be the case, given the e-mail you presented.
It's a cool legend, and cip probably wants it to stay just like that. As someone who hasn't played tibia for ages, more than a decade now actually, an announcement of a discovery about this quest or any of the other legendary quests, could really drive me back into the game. Feels bad.

The old interview with Mulf may provide some good material to work with. He claimed that there were a few high-value quests that only he had solved. He also owned a pair of soft boots around 1 or 2 years before they were implemented into the game.

Hey, you missed one thing. Potty on Harmonia got spike sword from Slythia (don't know character's name). She was a tutor teleported by CM to Darashia, then she went to depot and received sword from players. Later she was teleported back to Rook with this sword and passed it to Potty who decided to show it off.

I remember trying to solve that with a friend by 7.6-7.8.
I guess, good to know we were on a possible real quest trail back then even though we failed. We gave up on that and when we heard of the Apprentice of Sheng we thought that he had something to do with the quest and we tried for some more time untill we gave up once again.

Very interesting, I made my first rook stayer when Rubera opened in 2003 and spent countless hours wondering around with others trying to figure it out but eventually moved on to WoW in 2005. I actually remember the thing about the sword disappearing and the fires dimming, I thought I was crazy when it happened.
Thanks for doing this video, the best I've ever seen around about SoF. But SoF's disappearance is still intriguing me, why the hell this function remains in the game? Knightmare's most recent interview (June, 2019) says: Interviewer: Spike Sword or Sword of Fury? Also, do you remember and can you share who implemented the mechanism to make the sword disappear? Knightmare: Does it 'disappear'? Who can tell what happens to the sword? However, it was me who implemented the sword and the related functions in the game. And of course it's the sword of fury. I think another video looking into the depths of this discovery (SoF's disappearence) urges once it was discovered in 2007. Maybe the quest steps to obtain the SoF was changed.

So the function to make the SoF disappear existed back in 2003? I was wondering perhaps Knightmare implemented that close when it was discovered back in 2007.

I asked to my cousin because he was GM in the past, he told me that he never complete the quest cause it was very hard, he had friends who really completed the quest in 2002, Cipsoft disabled the lever on the mino hell needed to complete the quest cause the quest was broken, noone with lvl. 8 or less could complete the quest and that wasn't the point of Rookgaard, it's suppose that the island is just a tutorial, not the adventure.

about in 2004 or 2005, I remember one day in the world of celesta, one player was selling a long sword in rook for 500gp, how did he get it? maybe has a relation with the quest, my mistake... I didn't ask him how :(
I can add that before 2007 it was possible to get to the ghoul room, there was a door and the switch, also a key to go there

I hope you get this message man. i noticed in this video someone was clever and asked cip support about the sword. and they said it was removed. well. ive been playing tibia since 01-03 when i first logged on my brothers character. i started my own in 2005. been playing ever since. i can confirm that the paper with the mino on top of the mountain did indeed exist. it said just whats presented in the video.

They like to keep players hooked to their game, so I wouldn't rely too much on it. But if you find out anything let us know!

@@TibiaReklav I know it has been awhile you wrote this, but indeed the mino scroll was true. I started playing tibia in mid 03, obviously as a rooker the SoF caught my attention. I reached the scroll and fought the mino, remember perfectly using spears to kill it and using 6 boxes to climb up. Can't remember right know what was written on it, but it was like he was trapped on rook or something like that.
I actually met someone with a spike sword in rookgaard once. He showed it to me in the depot. I think he said a GM or something gave it to him.
interesting but the mace he's mentioning being afraid of rookers having didn't come out until 8.0.. before that it mostly dropped trash. the only notable item would be the yellow magic spell wand but they served no widely known purpose.
