    One of my favorite fighters of the last 15 years! GGG in his prime was a special combination of devastating power and underrated boxing IQ. When you talk about fighters that just have that "it" factor, Golovkin had that in spades for me and I loved watching him dominate the Middleweight division year after year. I just wish he could have got the big fights much sooner in his career, I'd have loved to see him in there with Sergio Martinez, Cotto, Ward etc maybe even Canelo but in his prime. Either way an incredible talent and a great career. GGG at his devastating best! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

    GGG in his prime was an absolute joy to watch. Just a relentless beast who always went for the kill. It’s a shame that he was older by the time he fought Canelo but at least he got involved in one of the most well known rivalries of all time no matter how you scored those 2 fights.

      GGG was still in his prime when he fought Canelo. It’s a complete myth that he was past it, it was after the second Canelo fight where he had very noticeably lost a step but during the Canelo fights, he was still an elite fighter. Proven by the Vanes Matyrosian fight which was sandwiched between the Canelo fights; GGG looked every bit as devastating as he did in his so called “prime years” when he was whooping B/C level fighters like Prozka, Macklin, Stevens, Rubio and Gaele, etc…Fact of the matter is, GGG stopped looking unstoppable once he stepped up his competition and started fighting A level boxers. The whole "B-level" and "second string" lingo from people in the comment section who never made their high school team gets old after awhile. Who else was he supposed to fight at middleweight? People bitch because he never stepped up in weight to fight say Andre Ward but neither did Hagler and he's somehow always called the greatest Middleweight of all time. • @MetaversalSouljah

    If you observe his technique, he always has a solid base and total balance, which is why he generates so much power and also why he has never been knocked down. Even when stalking and moving forward with combos, he never leans too much.
    I taught myself how to box and I can give work to amateurs with more experience than me inside of gyms simply by understanding balance and weight transfer, which he does beautifully. He is one to study if you actually want to box. It takes a keen eye to see how special he was bc he's not flashy at all.
    People underestimate or often don't even understand how entirely fundamental balance and weight transfer/shifting is in boxing. He boxes from his feet as does anyone who truly understands it, but he has the best base and balance I've ever seen.

    • @MetaversalSouljah
      @MetaversalSouljah Рік тому +4

      It's funny bc casuals or people who don't box will say he has no footwork just bc he doesn't pivot and dance all the time lol.
      They don't understand the precision in "staying heavy" and shifting the weight at the precise moment to generate immense power. And "staying heavy" keeps you from getting knocked over, defensively.

    I'm not 100% sure of this, but if you notice, GGG always causes a knockout at close range. The knockout shot always has the entire forearm behind the fist. He doesn't reach for strikes, he doesn't throw wild overhands with an outstretched arm. I think this is where his power comes from. His willingness to commit to this kind of in the pocket striking gives him a very high KO ratio, but it doesn't translate to moving up weightclasses because it doesn't allow him to utilize his full reach, nor is it very mobile

Absolutely nothing to do with him being “past prime” as he wasn’t yet.

    • @88chimes
      @88chimes Рік тому

      GGG was 35 and 36 in their first two fights. No middleweight fighter is going to tell you that they were physically the same or better at 35 compared to say 30 years old. On top of that these Eastern Europeans often have extensive amateur careers, Golovkin had shy of 400 amateur fights. Regardless on if you disagree on him being out of his prime, its clear that Canelo and team thought it was worth dodging him for several years.@@RaulRamirez-jv4rn

      He had lost his absolute prime, he had lost a step. Canelo and Oscar avoided him for a long time, do you not remember? Do you not remember Virgil of all getting in the ring and telling Canelo to fight GGG after his fighter (khan) got sparked out. Do you not remember the catchweight he kept fighting at so often they coined it 'canelo weight', do you not remember him dropping a belt to avoid GGG? It can't be ignored, they avoided him for years, and even then corrupt judging was on their side, Adelaide Byrds 118-110 disgraceful scorecard. @@RaulRamirez-jv4rn
