    In this video I show you how to create a mask wipe transition in Final Cut Pro. To create this kind of transition, you simply need to draw a mask around the shape or object that is the subject of the transition and keyframe that mask over time to wipe seamlessly into the next shot. Mask wipe transitions are relatively easy to pull off and in this video I go over how to do it step by step. I also talk about how to pick the right shots to use for this type of transition, as well as a few workflow tips to make the masking process a bit easier. The best part is that this mask wipe transition can be created for free in Final Cut Pro with no need for any third party plugins.
    On this channel you’ll find Final Cut Pro tutorials, filmmaking and photography tips and other things like travel vlogs when we Donna and I get the chance to travel, so if you enjoy that sort of thing then please subscribe to the channel.

      @@Brad_West Is it hard to do? Does it have to be me created in Motion?

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  Рік тому

      @@Silverhorse32 It depends how complex you want the movement to be. You could use the position and scale parameters to keyframe the clip off screen directly in FCP, but if you want the first clip to do anything special like bend/fold or anything like that then Motion is probably a better option. Do you have a reference you can share for the type of flyaway you are referring to?

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching Travis 😊
      When you’ve created a mask, the black part is an alpha channel which means that anything you put underneath that clip will show through. So all I did was put that clip of Donna below the bicycle clip and when the bicycle moves across the screen, the mask reveals that clip.
      When you create a marker, it does not set a key frame. It’s more of a visual reference to see when the mask starts and ends. By doing this you can easily see when the black alpha channel will be revealed. I also snap the new clip I’m revealing to that marker.
      I hope that explanation helps. If you have any more questions, let me know 😊👊🏼
