Radetzky-March (Austrian/Austrian-Hungarian March)

Radetzky-March was composed in 1848 by Johann Strauss Sr. The march was dedicated to Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz. It is the most famous march in all of Austria, a popular tune that soldiers and citizens alike enjoyed.

Thank you for this my grandfather served in the Royal scots fusiliers in WW1 he was guarding Austro-Hungarian prisoners of war my grandad was a professional musician in civilian life he told me that along with musicians from the regiment and the Austro-Hungarian musicians they put on a concert of Strauss Walzes and a programe of music by Franz lehar it was the first and last time this occurred the closing peice of music was the radesky march . Wars are evil but also because of music two supposed enemies played together in a concert
