    At 8:19 it becomes obvious that the cupola is glued at the wrong angle.
    It should be rotated a little clockwise until one of the periscopes is exactly front and center.
    I emphasise, this is not your fault.
    Takom made this mistake and Takom keyed the cupola to sit in this position.

      Thanks for pointing out the mistake. I didn't actually glue it because I had to paint the sight glass.

    Get quick tracks. They are fantastic!

    I'm working on this kit right now, I despise the tracks with separate guide-horns - they always break off!

      Yeah, same problem with me. I bought the tiger box but was unaware of the ‘track’ situation. I think I’m going to buy some easier to make tracks if I can find any.

      @@snipertv795 I bought the metal tracks from WarpUnited off of Amazon. I've used their products before. I'm happy with them. And as I'll never build three Tigers, I gave one to my local hobby shop to sell. Gotta keep them in business...

    This is obviously not the tracks that came with the kit. How well did it fit and could you send a link to where I can get my hands on them.

    At 0:53 the idler wheel arms are being glued in.
    The idler wheel on a Tiger is used to set the track tension. It might be better to leave those arms unglued until very late, when the tracks are on. You can then angle the arm to set the tension.

      There is a locater tab at 12 o'clock that rigidly sets the arm straight vertically. I think this works out ok if you stick to the kit tracks, but I went with Fruil and opted to modify these. It's very simple to take out a section on the idler arm to allow adjustment for other brands of tracks. It also helps by pulling the idler wheel away from overlapping the last road wheel so much and raises it slightly. This more closely matches the photographs I've looked through. Takom has it tucked in too far IMHO and this would look even more so with the 600mm idler wheel.

      @@TheSaturnV A locator tab? Wow, that's unexpected. Other model brands try to give you the realistic amount of movement.

    • @TheSaturnV
      @TheSaturnV 3 місяці тому

      @@daveybyrden3936 Yes. The tab is on the hull and the slot on the arm. It's very easy to chop out a section off the arm and get any rotation you want. Supposedly the slot was done so it gives the right tension amount for the kit provided tracks.

    The "travel lock" - two folding arms - is not applied to the rear of your model. The real Tiger had it.
    I can't find an online copy of this kit's instructions. What does it say about the "travel lock", please?

    • @TheSaturnV
      @TheSaturnV 4 місяці тому

      David, Takom devotes the entire page 25 to the travel lock on the right rear. They offer 3 options: Arms pushed apart laying on the deck, pushed together with chains open and finally pushed together with chain fully closed around a barrel.

      @TwiceEvery14Days 2 місяці тому +3

      Otto Carius' tiger had the front outer wheel missing. So with this kit and the Carius figure it's historically accurate.
      What's worse is that they did the same thing to the other Mid kit in the box art. Although it seems the model itself does have all the road wheels. Let's hope it's just the box :)

    • @daveybyrden3936
      @daveybyrden3936 Місяць тому +1

      @@Vincentschneider007 It was standard practice to remove the front outer road wheels on "Earlly" and "Mid" Tigers. Those wheels tended to collect mud and cram it into the suspension.
      I would have said the commander's headset is the missing thing. If he intends to travel, he will need to communicate constantly with the driver, who has a poor view.
