What to do With 1 Day in Jaipur

  • We only had one day to explore Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, so we were sure to make it count! Visiting Jaipur is one of the most common travel destination in India and it really is for good reason! There are a lot of things to do in this city so we had to carefully choose what we wanted to fit into our one day in Jaipur.
Our first stop in this travel vlog is the famous Amber Fort (or Amer Fort), which we learned was a palace for previous Maharaja and is a beautiful place to spend a couple of hours. Not only is the architecture at Amber Fort stunning, but the accessibility to so much of the fort makes it a really fun place to explore.
The next place we visited in Jaipur was a famous photo spot called the Panna Meena ka Kund Stepwell, and man is it stunning! It's so photogenic, even if the water colour is a little iffy :p
After a quick look at Jal Mahal (which makes for a nice quick pit stop), we visited the most anticipated tourist attraction of the day; Hawa Mahal! The incredible Wind Palace is everything we imagined it to be, although we didn't anticipate just how loud it is! The street in front of Hawa Mahal is very busy, and when you add all the tourists and shop keepers into the mix, it can quickly become overwhelming. We loved seeing Hawa Mahal and could have stayed for hours taking various photos and videos; it really is an amazing structure and is Jaipur's number 1 tourist attraction for good reason!
Last but not least, we toured around the City Palace to see how the modern day Royalty live. Surprisingly, this is actually the stop that we would suggest you skip if you're short on time in Jaipur. Unless you pay extra for entry into special rooms, the palace itself doesn't offer visitors as much to see or do as we expected. If you only have one day in Jaipur like we did, maybe skip a visit to the City Palace and check out another fort or explore the Rajasthani cuisine a bit more!
If you are headed to Jaipur soon and need an awesome tuktuk driver, we highly recommend reaching out to Dinesh to see if he's available :) He can be reached by What'sApp at +91-9314870222 or email at dineshdhap@yahoo.com
We hope this video helps you plan your visit to Jaipur, especially if you only have one day in the Pink City!

I understand it's natural for someone to think the elephants are being ill treated, but trust me, of all the "work" elephants in the world, these elephants live the best lives. Because
    1. They carry just 2 people which is hardly 120-150 kilos together. In other places on earth they are made to carry logs that weigh in tonnes
    2. You must visit these elephant facilities on spare days. They get the best of treatment. They are bathed in river, taken for a swim, attended by vets.
    3. They are fed the best quality foods. If you saw even a female elephant had tusk, which says they get enough nutrition, because that doesn't happen in wild.
    4. They are government property.
    5. They are often taken for walks in forests, or left in forests for somedays. In this way they breed with wild elephants and continue the population. Or sometimes they are freed when they are past 50.

Indian Elephants have a history of being petted through immemorial number of generations. These pet elephants are raised by, fed and taken care of very well in a very personalized way. They get to live with their family. Every elephant has a dedicated human friend called "Mahut" who is the caretaker and also driver of that elephant. This is quite a natural and loving relationship from both ends and a very old bridge that Indians have established with them.

Nicole and Mico, I just love your delivery style, factual and impartial. Several weeks ago, I watched your Machu Picchu vlog, and posed a few questions to you, which you had so graciously responded, swiftly, I might add. My husband and I did visit Machu Picchu, it was everything that I had imagined/anticipated. We call Toronto home, and we will continue to support your vlogs. India has never been on my bucket list. Before our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in October 2013, we visited a Travel Clinic in Toronto, and per their counsel, took Dukoral, Twinrix Hep A & Hep B) and Typhim vaccines recommended for a tropical climate. Did the two of you seek out medical advice and received specific vaccines before departing for India?

      @nicoleandmico  Рік тому +3

Hey there, so glad to hear you have found our videos helpful and that you had a wonderful time at Machu Picchu! Before leaving for full time travel we got a whole load of vaccines so that we would be safe to visit anywhere. That included Yellow Fever (which is required for visiting India) as well as rabies which was just an extra precaution. We also got Hep A/B, and tetanus boosters. The only one we don't have is JE and so far we haven't been to areas where that is a big concern, but if we do we may try to get that one during our travels

I can't believe a country like India with 40 UNESCO world heritage sites, nude beaches and skii resorts was not on your bucket list.
One place in India which is like Cusco in Peru is Shimla in India.
It looks like the Western media has demonized India and Indians. Also some frugal vloggers spend only 5 US $ a night and stay in bad hotels in shady areas in India. So this would be like spending 50 pounds a night and staying in a place like Brick Lane in London and judging England by your experiences in Brick Lane.
There was a made in India Covid vaccine called Covaxin, I took two shots of it and it was awesome. Unfortunately many people in the west haven't even heard of it. Just type Vice News India and Al Jazeera India and see 90% of the videos are fake news.
I remember once ex Canadian PM Stephen Harper was talking to Indian intellectuals and they were complaining about the Western media to him and how the Western media has demonized India and Indians.

India also has the 7th largest mosque in the world.

Temple has a total of 84 underground chambers built to protect idols of the deities from destruction. its over 600 years old but still looks like it was built yesterday.

Later, his successor Seleucus married his daughter to Chandragupta Maurya in exchange for 500 war elephants which helped Greeks in the Mesopotamian conquests.
Also, animals in India are treated with respect. Be it cows or elephants, they get the first meal and then the family eats. It's part of the culture. Precisely why we have deities based on animals. :)
