      As an avid guitarist I can say that his riffs are so hard to play. He uses his pinky as well as most people use their index finger, and if you don’t get the positionings exactly right , then after one bar you’re cooked for the next bar. His riffs are unbelievable and I miss him.

      What I love about CoB especially is that people have so many diffrent favorite songs from all...if there are three tiers of excellency, then CoB have tons of tier 1 songs and a bunch of tier 2s but none of theirs songs are bad. CoB blasted my mind when I discovered them...Hatebreeder was the first album ever where I loved every single song, and then I bought Follow The Reaper which I found even better. There's still no other songwriter imo that can make every song on one album feel as good as the next while staying on top writing quality over the whole duration

    The first band I ever went to see live was Children Of Bodom. I was in the front row of the mosh;
    It was so crazy I thought my ribs were gonna get bruised from being against the front barrier. Some chick behind me went nuts because I wouldn't let her in front of me, so she bit me. 😆
    I got to high-five ALL of the members of the band. So worth it.
    Seeing Bodom live was one of, if not the best nights of my life so far. 😁👌👌

    Actually to help him keep focused on his vocal scream length (which enhances atmosphere and boosts energy output), the rhythm guitarist overtakes that riff at 6:29 while Alexi just follows with the cords. But yes, in many other songs he sings while playing complex riff. Take "You're better off dead" song. The chorus is crazy, it's like "just wait for it...." and then it hits you like a ton of bricks.

  • @noodlehair6566

    7:14 It's really hard to put Children of Bodom in one particular genre since their arrangements and compositions were so complex compared to other bands which are much more straightforward. However, we can all agree that whatever genre they were, their music was beautiful.

    Nice tribute and good to see a genuinely enthusiastic reaction. I have never been a fan of extreme metal and screaming or growling vocals but CoB's music always seemed unique to me and caught my ear and soul in a way that I can't really explain. Alexi's songwriting and his way of not only performing but the way he talked in interviews and participated in all sorts of projects such as guitar clinics and the 100 Guitars from Hell spectacle just showed that he was a really genuine, uncompromising and yet relaxed and fun guy. All testimonies and statements from his friends and loved ones since his death have proven just that. Thanks for this, Thomas. And by the way, the "Lai" part of his surname is pronounced the same way as the English verb "lie", not "lay" ;)

When we talking music, food taste or any other likes and hates, honestly is best and there is no reason other person get mad if someone doesn't like same things as you :) Death of Alexi is sad lost in here Finland, not arguing with that but they weren't my top 5 bands (mayby top 10?🤔) but always like is style and as a person when talks Tv or interviews on Yt. What CoB means to me most is that their music was first metal bands i really try to listen when i was like 8-9 yo . I wasn't fan of metal music back then but now.. 🤘😎🤘. I picked up his biography a few years ago, and it really opened my eyes to how much he experienced in life - good or bad. He also goes quite deep into his different influences, be it different bands, piano, or violin. My first time I heard them was when my elementary school teacher played Needled 24/7 for us in music class back in 2004. It was my first time I heard them, I was 9 years old. I was a life long fan after that. Kinda fell out of the loop around after Relentless Reckless Forever was released until I saw a finnish metal radio interview he was in 2019 and he even then looked to be in a rough shape, very thin almost skin and bones. I'm glad I got to see them live 3 times and he along with Dimebag Darrell are very much the reason why I picked up the guitar in the first place. It's weird losing someone you didn't really know but it does feel like you lost a family member.

    Ive never really been able to pinpoint COB thats what I love about them, they definitely have thrash elements tho. Some call em melodic death metal but thats not really it either tho they have elements of that too. They have punk and even some glamish pop sounds too(the keyboards sometimes get REALLY angelic sounding even more so than on this song)

    • @67pearse
      @67pearse 4 роки тому +2

      I was thinking about this the other day and I think (at least for me) I always loved how COB had this really great sense of melody and symphonic composition that borrows heavily from classical music (ESPECIALLY this solo) but was still heavy and fast and aggressive like good thrash and extreme metal, that didn't sacrifice from either side of that spectrum.

      I understand where you're coming from completely. I was debating whether I should post this or not as I expected to get comments like this. I have to disagree though. It's easy to be cynical and say this is exploitation. Everything I say in this video is true. While I can't say I'm a hardcore COB fan, I'm sure many others were affected much more than I. However, I was always a fan of his guitar playing and they did play a big part of my discovery into metal so when I saw the news, I was saddened. I don't make any profit from these videos, I just thought it would be a fitting time, nothing more. It's a shame that people jump to these conclusions but I'll take this down if it's going to come across this way though.

      @@ThomFoolery1 No worries mate. I bet the only one who sees this as exploitation is MissIssay.

      I think there's a difference between reactors who have never heard of them before and clearly not even liking their music to get viewers and money to their channel, versus what Thomas is doing here, which is paying respect to a person who died and grieving them with their fans. I understand your point tho, it is vile to exploit someone's death the way some reactors do, but I don't think that it's the case here.

      @@ThomFoolery1 I think your reaction/tribute was warmhearted and genuine - I think majority of your subscribers think that way. ❤️ I can't say I'm a CoB fan, but still I recognise the incredible talent Laiho was and when I saw the news, it literaly took my breath away. He was too young and would have had so much of a great career left.

      Paskapuhetta. Mutta sitäkin mahtuu maailmaan. A tasteful reaction. Thx. Kepeät mullat, Alexi!!!
