Worse mayor in history. A joke
Sad thing is, this is all of America now. You don’t even have to be in a dark alley anymore to get shot or attacked. Is anywhere safe? Can’t go to Walmart, the movies or school without threat of violence. We can do better, humanity.
Let’s do better
Exactly. This is everywhere.
If violent crime is everywhere, it's because it is tolerated everywhere. Make excuses for the killers, and release them after short prison sentences so they can go out and find more victims. It's the American liberal go-easy-on-crime way. There is no crime deterrent when there are no serious consequences. And no, the criminals are not the victims; they are the perpetrators.

nothing compares to new Orleans in the 80s and 90s. i'll never forget at 13 years old in 1988 I saw 4 bodies laid on the street their blood flowing out their heads and into the storm drain. I was shook for a long time.
Good lord, I remember my mom worked in new orleans (i'm assuming this time was mid to late 90's) and she told me stories about the violence and in the area she was in, car wrecks. She once told me she was walking to her work during her break with earbuds in listening to music and she had a car crash happen behind her and she didnt even notice. she also witnessed another car crash and saw someone in the street with their head split completely open, dead. That's just a bit of what she's told me but it goes to show that new orleans is dangerous and people should stay away if they can until things get fixed.
@Sam Wheat, 88 was a very bloody year. A murder everyday, sometimes two, in the month of June.
Hard to cut through all this crap.
@@Raygarza713 So who wants to compare it?
It’s a city located on a swamp that’s famous for 24/7 parties and getting drunk. That on top of the hurricanes and flooding. Seems like a city built on depression and poverty. Not sure why anyone would voluntarily live in New Orleans unless you have family there.
As a New Orleans resident, it’s like living in a lawless town in the Wild West. We’re scared to go about our daily lives. We’re afraid to get gas, go shopping, commute to work or school, even staying home is risky.

I grew up in new Orleans when it was the murder capital in the 90's. As a grown up, it's heartbreaking to see no change in all these years. I marched in parades, was a dancer truly loved my city but can't even enjoy it anymore. My heart breaks for the families
Around Blaxx Never Relaxx. I try to avoid them all I can. That’s how I stay alive.
It's easy and quickly to solve the high violence rate. A creckdown on gangs and traffickers would drastically change the city for the way better, but that's going to be considered rights violation or worse r*cism.
@TrainedACE
Detained people who are in gangs. I mean, many gangs have tattoos symbols, post video about bragging they're in gangs, write graffiti in which neighborhood they are in, etc... they easily expose themselves and wouldn't be difficult at all to figure which one they are. The ones that everyone know they are in a gang should be arrested, and other unknown thugs would be way more careful and behave way more. I think it's a good idea. Another suggestion is to restrict rap music that encourages gang and violent style to rewrite the culture, but that will be considered r3cist, but I wouldn't mind since it is way better for the community.
I’m from New Orleans and still live here, I have 3 kids I couldn’t wait to send my 18 year old to college, the city is unsafe than I remembered growing up in the city. I visited in October. It's a wonderful city, loved it there. I did read a report and somewhere that the city has spent more money on tourism than in their own communities. This is a big deal and needs to be addressed.
The city doesn't spend money on tourism. That is an excuse. You have families with criminal behavior ingrained in them. You have some families where EVERY male is a convicted felon. You got kids that are career criminals by the time they are 15. There is no education, no work ethic, or accountability in the hood. The kids are animals because the parents are criminals. The mayor does not see crime. The DA does not prosecute crime. The police do not want to arrest anyone from a "marginalized" community. Folks from the hood can do whatever they want. The mayor has their back.

How does a city spending money make its residents peaceful and respectful law-abiding citizens?
@@frankmartin8471 You clearly don’t understand the economic correlates of crime. A lack of jobs, low wages, and underperforming schools create poverty and are not conducive to creating model citizens.
In NOLA, Jobs: Black male unemployment is 10%, while it’s merely 4% for white males, low wages: minimum wage is $7.25 in NOLA, while it requires $16.79 an hour for a single, childless adult to support themselves here, poor education: while it’s significantly improved since Katrina, New Orleans schools are still low performing when compared nationally, and even compared to the rest of Louisiana. Addressing these issues would most certainly significantly reduce crime, across the board.
Other things like behavioral intervention programs, which use cognitive behavioral therapy, have been shown to reduce violent crime arrests among at-risk youth by up to 50%. Everyone I visit New Orleans, I get bad vibes. There is a wicked history in that city, you can feel it.
The energy in New Orleans is dark and heavy. Not sure what it will take to cleanse it. Such a wonderful place, rich in history with a culture like no other. What a shame…
💯👌 This comment right here! "The energy is dark and heavy!" 🎯
Vodoo and black magic took over now everyone is entitled to be vampires and use iluminaty symbols I don’t know if have anything to do with the amount of tv stuff being shot be there is more vampires than the city should have
Chicago and Philly just said hold my beer

My best friend has been trying to get me to visit New Orleans for a while now. I refuse. So sad nothing is being done about it… even decades later…
How can I help stop this madness?
It’s not the police it’s the people , the mayor needs to be out just like that lady in Chicago , give them jail time just like you would give a 18 year old it, these kids are getting worse and even more heartless , and I’m not playing with them …! Be safe
If you use a gun in a crime...it should Automatically be the death penalty ! You take a life you lose yours !
Yet nobody suggested this with George Zimmerman
Agree
Just compassionate melanin doing what it does best
I've also wanted to go to New Orleans not as much now.
Tourists areas are fine
New Orleans has always been this way. Nothing new
Who is committing the crimes and who runs the city...the common thread in all major US cities.
The elephant in the room 🔎

where do you find these statistics?
We recently visited from Canada for the third time this past summer. I got pickpocketed within the first hour - with zippered pockets, too. I saw a guy fully pass out and crack his head on the street. 3 people got shot a couple of blocks away from where we were at 10:30 at night. A woman ran back and forth from a car on Canal openly selling crack at 11 in the morning - on a Wednesday. You know what I didn’t see? A. SINGLE. COP. Zero. Literally not one the entire trip. I’ll never again wonder why Americans want to carry guns in places like that. I honestly had no idea places like that existed in developed countries. You guys deserve so much better.
Shows you we are in a realm where the past was the future
Just visited this amazing city last month. I had heard that it is the most dangerous city in the US just before my trip, but I didn’t experience any problems. Don’t let this deter you from visiting this amazing city! Such a unique and incredible place..can’t wait to go back. I hope the city is able to get things under control.
No thanks
Don't dare go outside the French Quarter
I’ll just stay away from the black people
Yeah bourbon street is safe. Everything else go at ur own risk

So much death. Even in Seattle wa 310 homeless died last year
The change has to start at home. The constant decline of the nuclear family has contributed greatly to this societal decay.
Towards the end the reporter says something to the effect of - since the task force began, the Mayor says they’ve pulled 30 abandoned cars off the roads and fixed some street lights, blah, blah, blah... wtf?? This isn’t a friggin' beautification project!!! Very sad! Sounds like this Mayor and Mayor Lightfoot must be related... good grief.
Dang... That's crazy people are really past about this. Everything has gotten out of hand.
Who would want to live there, not me.
We never needed Batman so bad....
its not only New Orleans its everywhere in America !!! This is the new normal now in the country called the land of dreams. as if every time you step out of your house you shouldn't forget to tell your family you love them. you will never know if you can still return home safe
It's them Wiggins!
