    Clearly BB's videos are providing a HUGE public service! Sifting through dry scientific research and publications is no small feat, not to mention explaining the jargon that is essentially a 'foreign' language to most of us! While it's a lot to take in, having the video's AND the transcripts, gives patients power to understand, question, and have some feeling of control over an insidious disease. Love the humor AND the wallpaper is FABULOUS!!!

    Your wallpaper is amazing!😍 And your videos are so informative. Our family is very, very new to this bartonellosis world and I've gleaned so much information just from a few of your videos. So much so that I was able to go to our daughter's first LLMD and not be completely overwhelmed by terminology, acronyms and testing options.
    Please keep sharing, it's much appreciated!

      Melissa Lee aww thank you so much that warms my ice cold heart lol. And thank you for your good taste in wallpaper ;) this illness has been so hard and when I feel well enough my favorite thing is to work on these videos so that one day bartonellosis will be recognized by more doctors

      Nicole R Thank you so much for watching! I haven’t done a video on treatment for many reasons but I can tell you the treatment that I am working up to. This is not medical advice! I eventually want to work up to clarithromycin and rifampin and then after several months I will switch the rifampin to rifabutin and slowly titrate that up. Have you added yourself to the Beating Bartonella Facebook group? People there have recommendations on treatment. Aside from antibiotics, your doctor needs to account for issues like pain management, hormones, probiotics, etc.

    Exactly what happened to me. Negative triple draw. 1:64 titers for both. All neurological symptoms for me. Always makes ya wonder if your doing the right thing treating bartonella

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  4 роки тому +1

      Yes exactly! That's why I made this video. To clear up confusion and hopefully guide people. Most people either have titers or a positive ePCR. Not both. Galaxy is still working out why this happens with human bartonellosis

    Love your videos and thanks for adding a little lite comedy to this very serious issue. Thank you for explaining how complex Bartonella is. I’m sure it’s not easy researching all of this. Keep it up!!

    Here's an Infectious Disease doc who had Bartonella, figured it out, cured himself and now helping others - including me. Dr. Steven Phillips who wrote the wonderful book CHRONIC.

      So glad to hear that he is helping you! He treats these vector borne illnesses like bartonellosis and borreliosis but as far as I am aware he is a doctor of internal medicine and not infectious disease. I’ve never spoken to him but he seems like a very compassionate doctor and he treats quite a few people in our Facebook support group 🙂

    OK I am in Montreal, Quebec, Canada when I see all the titers you list seems our PCR use a different # scheme 1/160 1/320 1/640 1/1280 as far as you know does this mean we could be using a different way of reading it?

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  4 роки тому +1

      So those numbers are titers for serological tests (IFA perhaps EIA) not PCR. Titers cannot be compared across different serological tests. So if the test that you are familiar with uses the numbers you listed above, you can't say that 1/320 is similar to our 1:256. Each test has it's own cut-off values and it's own definitions of high and low titers. Hope this was helpful :)

    Do you know if it's possible to get enlarged lymph nodes from Bartonella henselae after being chronically infected for years? For years I've had neurological symptoms, headaches, and fatigue to varying degrees, but I didn't get the cat-scratch lymph node symptom (along with a new symptom of sore muscles while lying down) until just a few months ago. This past summer, I did get bitten by a wild cat, so my dad (a doctor) told me that the new lymph node symptom was caused by Bartonella. I just wonder if I could've actually had the infection for longer, and if it's only now manifesting with a readily identifiable symptom.

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  4 роки тому

      I know that swollen lymph nodes can last a long time in acutely infected people. I am not sure if you can develop swollen lymph nodes after having the infection for a long time. It's also possible you got reinfected with a different species (or strain). There is a lot more that we don't know about Bartonella than we do. If I were you, I would find a Bartonellosis literate practioner and order testing from Galaxy Diagnostics

    You shouldn't see any doctor besides a Lyme specialist doc, every other doctor will make you believe your symptoms are psychosomatic and maybe need an antidepressant.

    • @BartonellaBabe
      @BartonellaBabe  4 роки тому +1

      Afura33 You’re right that a lot of doctors do tell patients that they are psychosomatic and that is very disheartening. However, I have a great allergist/immunologist who has been an invaluable member of my team and people who are having severe ocular symptoms from bartonellosis like uveitis or neuroretinitis should see an ophthalmologist so that they can check for damage with a slit lamp and help prevent further damage. So we can’t count out all other doctors!

    Do you have bartonella only, or do you have lyme too?
