Hey everyone! For this technique to work, you have to use chain that has plain oval or round links without any curvature. I don’t think Curb or Fígaro would work but you can certainly give it a shot. Let me know here if you’ve tried other types of chain and how it worked out. 🙂
I managed to make it work with a round link and tiger tail but wanted to try it with leather and it wouldn't work? the 1st four links work but then it just gets stuck, any ideas?
@@lulu43751 OMG...I cant believe I missed this comment! I’m so sorry! Did you figure it out? Try using thinner leather or perhaps chain that has soldered links. A lot of chain has links that are open or cut, and the leather may be catching on the edges of the links. 🙂🌺🌼🌸
@@MistyMoonDesigns thanks so much for getting back to me🙏🏻 you're right thinner leather works although still looks better with the tiger tail. Stay safe❤
Watched this video again I love rewatching many of your videos, because your teaching of methods used is so great. I am learning and always inspired. Thanks so much. love to see you modeling your designs. it helps us determine the length and see the beauty of the item on a beautiful lady. Bless you so much for sharing!
I love your work I want to make one myself and sometimes I need to figure it out myself but you’re showing me thank you so much I might have to watch it again sometime thank you so much
Love the different elements you used. And I do appreciate that you put it on so we can see how it wears. That is one of the frustrating things I find, when looking at patterns, is that nobody seems to show the finished product on unless it’s a ring or bracelet. So I do appreciate that you model the finished piece!
I love this necklace! My favorite colors... You do such beautiful work. I love the detail you put into everything you do. You’re a magnificent designer!♥️♥️
I think you covered all 3 of the seasons. It's a gorgeous necklace. I always learn something new about jewelry design. Thank you Luisa for sharing your knowledge.
Awesome design! You are wonderful teacher! My bead room is a total disaster rt now! A couple of years ago I decided to go through every bead box & sort everything & reorganize. I have lots of gemstone beads!! Took me two weeks😂 My BBB came today... it’s another winner!
Oh I’m so glad you like the August BBB! I got mine today as well but haven’t opened it yet. Once I open it, there’s no holding me back! So I’ve been purposely waiting 😂 Lol!
Love the simplicity of this piece with the strong focal beads and a light tapered drop, I don't have a lot of chain at the moment but it gives me lots of ideas how to use it besides just hanging chain, Thanks so much for your time, you have definitely inspired me to go and check out my stash and have a play around. 🙏💜💐
I just loved what you did with the chain. Never seen anything like that before. Pure stroke of genius Luisa. You really are a very clever designer. The beginning of the video cracked me up. I am sure anyone that is creative has had a desk like that from time to time. I think I spend more time pulling out ‘possibilities’ and eventually finding homes for 90% of them again, than I actually do on the beading. I blame it on being a Libran, difficult to make decisions sometimes. Your end results are definitely worth a period of chaos. Love Jen x 🦘🦘🦘🦘🌹🌹🌹
That’s what I tell myself as I watch the mess grow into a scary mountain of jewelry supplies. Sometimes I worry my family will come looking for me and find me buried under the pile 😂 but, alas....such is the life of a jewelry designer with a bead hoarding problem. 😊❤️🌺🌸 I’m an Aquarian...creative, quirky and a little stubborn at times. Once I focus on something, I forget the world. Not sure if that’s an Aquarian trait 😂
Don’t forget Luisa, a clean work table is the sign of a dull designer! Thanks again for a great new tutorial and threading technique! Evie Smith Designs.
You are such a patient and precise instructor...great technique with the chain and tiger tail. I think your necklace is so lovely. Stay safe and well, Amanda xox
Wow! Fantastic technique. I was visualizing chain & drop earrings to go with this. I have a whole spool of rolo chain to play with. I find myself “dressing up” to go to the grocery since it is the only public place open. The color combo is stunning. Thank you for sharing.
That’s an awesome idea. I bet earrings would look great! I’ll have to try it and also just chain. A chain bracelet would look nice as well...would look just like a chainmaille bracelet! 😊❤️🌺🙂
I love your designs!! you are so creative. Im so glad I found your channel. You are a real artist :), keep up the great job, the videos are professional, offer detailed instructions and you go slow enough and get close enough for me to follow....PERFECT! : I have learned so much from you; your style and techniques have been invaluable for jewelry making.
I love what you did with the chain. What a clever idea! And the result is stunning. Just one thing I don't know. When did you sneak into my studio and take a picture of my messy desk? lol It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has tornadoes running through my house! As always, thank you for sharing your talent and creativity.
Thank you Lea. I snuck into your studio the other day when you weren’t watching 😂 I’m glad you acknowledged I didn’t make that mess...lol. Lots of tornadoes around! 😊❤️🌺🌸
Beautiful necklace design! My desk in my craft room is messy and so is the floor because I haven’t put away all of my packages of beads yet! I was glad to see that yours gets messy too so I know I’m not alone! I think, depending on what color beads you use, the design could fit any season. Thank you for sharing!
That came out so gorgeous 😍 I love the idea you had with the chain. I learn something new each time I watch one of your tutorials. Thank you so much 😁 🥰
Luisa, Gorgeous Necklace💙💙💙💙💙!!! Love the colors you chose for this project, just beautiful.Thank you again for sharing your creative designs with us. Lovely Necklace.
Beautiful and so creative! Never saw the chain used in that exact way and I love it! Have just started watching your videos recently and am getting so inspired! Thank you.
Luisa you made me laugh loved the beginning and I always enjoy your rambling. I love how you used the chain I will be using this chain design. Thank you for sharing how to making this beautiful necklace.
I learned a lot in this video and another video of yours. Great teaching with explaining of techniques used. Have an idea. Oh it must have taken awhile to clean of your beading area. Will continue watching your tutorials. Thanks.
Very imaginative designs, due to my ridiculous stash ( see it, like it, buy it oops!) I should be able to make this straight away, thanks you so much for this!
Misty Moon Designs Initially thought I might be able to reuse a gold ankle curb chain that’s been lurking around unloved for years but not enough links. My other chain is far too fine so I shall be forced to buy some but then I’ll be using beads up. Looking forward to doing this. Thanks for responding 💐🙏🏻🌹🏴🇬🇧
Thanks for sharing the lovely chain technique . I simply love the necklace with the colour combination. What size of oval chain needs to be used with the sizes of beads in the project. Thanks
Oh Luisa...I always enjoy your channel...but today I felt such a comraderie with you as I know you now feel my pain of "the mess". I have not figured out how to make jewelry and it not create a "mess". Even when I pull what I need...the creative spark takes over and I start pulling findings out and different beads and 4 hrs later....my workspace looks even messier than yours...oh trust me! . Have a great day. I love your content and your voice is fantastic which is definitely an asset in tutorials.
Oh thank you Melanie! Yes it definitely feels like a comraderie with so many of us having the same issue. 😊 Thank you for the compliment about my voice. 😊❤️🌺🌸
I love what you did with the chain. I have a request. My older fingers have difficulty with lobster clasps so I tend to favor toggle clasps. ( Also have very short hair do they show niicely). Would you do a video that talks about toggle clasps, balancing size and style to compliment the piece you are making? I would love to hear your opinions on this subject. And thank you for another great inspiring lesson! Cheryl
Thank you Louise. I’m sure the chain technique has been done before because whenever I think of an idea, I find out someone’s already thought of it. I have all kinds of things rattling around in my brain...mostly beads 😂😊❤️🌺🌸

Thank you so much for the nice comments. Yes!...I also thought winter when I first put it together! 😊 If you decide to make it make sure you use a chain with plain round or oval links. Anything else may not work. Photoshop Fix is free I think but you do need an Adobe account which is also free. It’s been so long since I’ve had it I honestly don’t remember but I’ll check and let you know 😊❤️🌺🌸
Did U say KO beads is the place you might have bought those Chinese crystals? Can you help me with the spelling? Id love to shop there. thanks!!!❤ beautiful necklace!😍
Hi Deborah. Gosh! I hope this is the correct crystal. I made the video a year ago but I think I used 6 mm clear colored faceted rounds for the strand. You can find them at COBeads. Here’s a link: www.cobeads.com/p-1799943-imitation-austrian-crystal-beads-grade-aaa-faceted.html
Oh, yes! Mine looks like that and worst most of the time except when my daughter comes to visit. She can’t stand it so she organizes it and then I can’t find a darn thing. So I am spending Thanksgiving day re-organizing, and putting things in a new location… my craft room closet instead of my living room.
