This is better than the record and Mark King on the bass is something else. The vocals, both lead and backing plus the brass is amazing. Wish I’d have been there. Loved the 80’s.
This was a great concert. Level 42 did a RIDICULOUSLY great job at backing all the artists. Mark as MD is a legend. What a band. Love this song! Will Downing and Go West were also brilliant.
I was thinking about this cut while at work and decided to revisit it. I must be showing my age (I'm 51 years old) as this song IS STILL AWESOME when it first came out in 1986! The "rare" live version is actually better than the studio version as it has a jazzy tinge to the synthpop backdrop. It's just pop perfection!😀
In 1986 is when I first fell in love with Corrine with SWINGOUT SISTER’s debut: It’s better to travel! Big fan ever since she mesmerizes me with her beautiful vocals and knock out looks! ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😘😘😘💋💋💋🥰🥰🥰 By the time: Am I The Same Girl came out In 1992 I had just graduated college with my bachelors degree and moved to California to start my masters degree at UCLA…time flies!
This is from the 1989 Prince's Trust concert in Birmingham. The backing band is Level 42. A great performance. One of my favourite songs and two of my all time favourite bands. It doesn't get much better than this.
Fantastic ... Everything ... Words fail me ... Love the song ... Great arrangement .... Amazing playing all around ... Super tight .... Funky bass fills ... Omg it's perfect .... Everyone's having fun .... It's a happy tune
*Mark King and the rest of **_Level 42...,_** nailin' the groove to the stage... They did it even better than the album cut..., more fire..., and the vocals were a spot on studio quality performance..., pitch, phrasing, timbre, & resonance..., all spot on like the album...*
Love SOS and Level 42.Was lucky to see SOS live once and lucky to see Level 42 live twice.Matter of fact the first time I ever heard this song is when at a Level 42 concert in October of 1987 the were playing Breakout over the sound system before the show.Glad both groups are still around, but nothing tops the original 4 members of Level 42!!!!
Where to start... She's talented, beautiful and one of the most stylish pop singers ever. Not to mention a great song, great band and back-up singers. If the thumbs-up (2:17) is, (as said) in response to Princess Di that makes this even more memorable.
Listening instead of watching this video and thought this would be a great track for Mark King to jam on bass............I look at video and BAM there he is in the back playing bass.......AWESOME!!
So brilliant - is this from an interview? A naysayer may be out there but I welcome additional details anyway. I think it was a great performance (and song!).
I knew this song for lonnnggg time ago...and still keep in my head..I love the rhythm but i didn't understand the lyric because english is not our daily conversation. But now days, surprisingly it is motivated lyric for daily life. So rhythm = lyric = amazingly ...thank u SOS for create this song.
Are Nike and the other US exploiters of Indonesian labor paying better wages and ensuring better working conditions yet ? I am an American and i hate the US empire .
Corrine, hermosa, adorable, encantadora con una hermosa tonalidad vocal, incluso cantando a capella se escucharía genial. Soy un muuuuy lejano fan de ella.
It was, awesome- I was there front row centre stage-the last time Alan Murphy ever performed live too, he was a valuable Level 42 member and missed very much! RIP Alan
GBS1043's right - this is THE definitive live version of "Breakout." The full orchestra and Mark King on bass really takes it to another performance level! BTW, given how hot the song is rocking (and how it was still a recent hit back in 1989), it is surprising that the audience wasn't more into it - but maybe at a Prince's Trust concert, it's a little more sedate crowd. However, glad to see at least one member of the audience really getting into the music - 0:27-0:30,bottom of screen.
@AtariAndre42 Mark King used to have an Atari incidentally 😊 I know cos I played Pacman on it with him and my bro! Was also tony row at this gig it was amazing!! Sadly Alan Murphy's last concert! RIP Alan
This song brings a BIG SMILE to my face. Still luvin' it 2024.

She's not only beautiful, she has so much style and personality !
Siii..ella en el escenario sin escándalos,ni extravagancias, es muy fashion, delicada, en otras palabras, una hermosa dama.
She looks like a Classy Paris woman. Amazing singer and Swing out Sisters has been one of my favourite 80s band since the release of this song.
This was a great concert. Level 42 did a RIDICULOUSLY great job at backing all the artists. Mark as MD is a legend. What a band.
Love this song! Will Downing and Go West were also brilliant.
She is fantastic, they are great

Is she alive?
@@rosinetetorresdelima1535 Yes. 👍
I love this beautiful lady and her musical interpretations. As an aboriginal American I do not lose hope of falling in love with her.
God, I loved Corinne - what a classy lady. I had this exact haircut and dress in 1989: it was my interview dress.
If so,I assume you didn't have any difficulty looking for a job. Lol
What were you being interviewed for, Disney villain or Carmen Sandiego?
amazing talent... I LOVE your voice. The bass player too
I simply love this beautiful woman, whose name is Corinne Drewery. I could watch this video all day.

i just watched her sing this in 2008 and i dont know how she does it but i swear she is not a day older...xxxxx beautiful
She's so beautiful.
Absolutely love Corrine and this song!!
Talented as well as beautiful

What a moment....
Wow truly amazing
Who ever invented this tune is just a genius!

Luv this jam her voice is great ❤🎉
The 'Thumbs Up' Corinne gives at 2:18, is a return gesture to Princess Diana (who was in the audience with Charles)
GBS1043 wow that’s awesome thanks for explaining that
So brilliant - is this from an interview? A naysayer may be out there but I welcome additional details anyway. I think it was a great performance (and song!).
Gary Husband on drums - fire!
That frame with Mark King and Gary Husband in the background at 2:38, what a rhythm section for Beautiful Corinne.

A real classy performer she is. Beautiful and talented. Very feminine...
Nice work, Corrine; you are a star. Plus, your voice has improved, between the record and this performance.
When the class owned the music.
Pure jazz
The way Andy looks at her. That is love. ❤
