Gjirokastër is one of the most historical towns in Albania, if you are into literature and books I recommend you read the masterpieces of Ismail Kadare a world famous Gjirokaster-born writer ..... by the way we pronounce the letter ''J'' as a ''Y'' ... i.e. Jet = Yet ... the mint flavoured riceball is called qifqi ( keefkee ) and is specialty of Gjirokaster / local delicacy. much love

It’s folklore festival not a modern music but from all regions of Albania including outside diaspora. It’s beautiful to watch so many folk outfits hand made most of them
I would recommend going to Korça when you guys are back in Albania! Korça is considered to be the cultural capital of Albania. The villages surrounding Korça like Dardha and Voskopoja are a must see!

Great video guys. Gjirokaster is wonderful. Last time i was there was back in 96 and there wasn't much to see. Not many tourists at the time. It's great to see that it's being visited by so many tourists. Greetings from an Albanian living in Lincoln.

Tomorrow you will visit the Albanian Riviera which is very beautiful.The view from the Llogara Pass is breathtaking. I don`t know your plans but in South i will suggest you to visit Berat, Korca, the city where the beer that you are drinking is produced and the ancient city of Apollonia near Fier.
A couple of curiosities if you have some interests on history. In Palasa beach which is right at the foot of the mountain below the Llogara Pass, is a place called in Albanian Rruget e Bardha, White Roads. Right there Julius Caesar landed with his army and then climbed the mountain on a pass that even today is called by the natives of the region Qafa e Çezarit, the Caesar Pass and Shtegu i Çezarit, the Caesar Path.

Meanwhile in the ancient city of Apollonia the first Roman Emperor, Augustus, studied in the local school.

Which bus did you get from Tirana to Gjirokaster and how long was it? as me and my friend are planning on staying in Gjirokaster for a week sometime in the summer but we are struggling on how to get into gjirokaster at the moment
