HI John! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods these days. I'm excited to hunt for vintage silver this year. People are trading silver in, so it's a good time to find some gems.
That funny you mention Sunshine mining! Just picked up a 1982 this morning for the stack. I like Sunshine as well- nice silver. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel!
I am fascinated by how these vintage bars are attaining an almost numismatic rare coin kind of status with names, varieties, mintages, etc... That is so awesome and hopefully some evidence that stacking things like Gold & Silver will never really go out of style. Great stuff! Not a collector of these, but always love hearing about these kinds of things and learning more about what others are doing to satisfy their urge to scratch their Silver stacking/collecting itch. Keep stacking!
I suppose the vintage market like any other market will have it's ups and downs. It's been a solid four years of vintage silver reaching that semi numismatic price level you mentioned. Only time will tell but I think vintage has the staying power to retain higher values. Just like our 90% US coinage, it's not made anymore. That said, vintage ingots have way, way fewer numbers for collectors to obtain! Your support of this channel is outstanding and much appreciated, thank you my friend!
Great information and video! Love that toner, beautiful! I have 3 pressed Eagles and 1 pressed big E. Would love to get a waffle back sometime. Always look forward to your next video.
Thank you for all the support! I hope you find that waffle back someday for a good price. The waffle back is a must have and the beginning of getting into the older bars.
LOVE ENGELHARD !!!!😊 I SWEAR I TALKED TO SILVER BAR STACKER ABOUT THIS THERE NEEDS TO BE A SILVER & GOLD BAR GRADING COMPANY. SEND IN YOUR BARS AND THEY DO THE SAME LIKE NGC CAT PCGS
Many of us feel the same way, a grading or authenticating would be helpful! I also talk to SBS often. We both worked on fake 1984 proof Prospectors for sale on Ebay and SBS got the listing removed. There is a need for authenticating vintage from fakes.
A very informative & descriptive presentation SS, you have some very cool vintage & toned 10oz Engelhard bars, the videos you & S2G create are real text book stuff for the avid collector & stacker, I always enjoy learning the unique terminology used during your presentations "rarity scale tiers", "waffle back", "pillow top loaf", "pebble back", "pressed variety" & so on, keep up the great work with your channel SS. Cheers Peter J 🤣👋🔥✌🇦🇺 🐨🦘👍
Wow, thank you for this flattering comment good sir! I love watching S2G, he is very detailed in what he is showing. Just watched his guardhouse video, what a great job he did on that! Most of the terminology I use is in-line with All Engelhard .com and other collector's slang, lol! Kinda of a funny collector language but it's second nature to me now.
I appreciate your responses to my comments, yes I have become used to the collector lingo now, I did watch S2G's Guardhouse video and left him a comment and gave your comment a thumbs up, I also left a comment on your USVI video 🤣
Awesome video Silver Struck great information enjoyed watching and learned quite a bit by watching. I thank you for sharing your knowledge and your collection Best wishes
The always enjoyable Vin-Tag-A Silver Struck video. Great work, as always, my friend. After watching this, I realized I need to be in the lookout for a pebble back to add to my collection. Cheers 🍾
The pebble back pressed bar is a sleeper variety, imo! Good bar to be on the look out for BA! Bean challenged me to say Vin-Tag-A, so I squeezed it in at the end, lol!
Really nice video! We do not have a regular option for either of the two p loaf or poured bars you’ve mentioned on our sbs website. The cheapest engelhard options, at least for us, will always be the pressed varieties, namely the pressed eagle or e logo or machined finished chunky bars as you have mentioned. Thank you so much for going through these! This is a critical video for stacker looking to get their feet wet with engelhard 10oz bars! Awesome break down! Very awesome!
Thank you so much for your kind words and compliments SBS! Exactly why I wanted to make this video- for the newer stackers that want to get into vintage silver. Recently, I was able to pick up some bars that are more on the rare side but have not made the video yet.
I hope so WMW! Getting into vintage doesn't mean you need to start with a 1,500 dollar rare 10 ouncer- right? There are some more affordable ways to start.
I hope so! You find some really nice vintage silver SAW, I'm surprised you have not picked up a 10 ounce yet. All good things come with time, so maybe you find a rare one!
Great video and info. I have one engelhard 10oz bar that i won for a channel on here. That is the only one i have. I seem to have an infatuation with the 10oz stackers from Scottsdale.
Thanks for the breakdown in different varieties. I always like collecting one of each variety when I’m building any type of set. Very nice collection you have there.
Some beautiful bars brother. Used to find lots of “p” series bars at the coin shops for a great price back a few years ago but not anymore there just not around anymore glad to have the ones I have I don’t have any lateral pressed bars one the vertical pressed bars one day I’ll find one I always keep my eyes open love the hunt
The pressed bars have a few lower mintage gems that are often over-looked! Those portrait Big E bars are the most common of common, I stopped stacking those. One of the on-line dealers recently had P loafs for 297.00 each.
You inspired me to go grab a couple bars today. Picked up 6 1 Oz bars. The most interesting ones seem to me to be the Republic of NY bank bars and a Shields Mint bar I got. I looked them up and only the NY bars seem to be more valuable than generic. Don't know much else about them but they're pretty
Those are great pick ups! The NY Bank bars can be quite rare in some cases. I will have more guardhouse box videos in the future, so I'm going with it. Glad you had some fun tracking down one ounce bars!
One of my 2024 goals is to acquire some 10oz Englehard bars as well as finish a tube of Prospector rounds. Also have a desire to finish a 1oz bar tube. Most of my 2024 goals are Englehard related. Thanks for this valuable information. Knowledge is power.
Yes sir, knowledge is power! These are the lower hanging fruit (bars) so to speak for Engelhard. You never know when you stumble across something really rare, so happy hunting!
You have found some of the rarest bars around, so these bars are just stackers to you sir! I did just recently pick up an old Silver Towne made by Engelhard with a mintage of 50! Over-time I have picked up several bars that drop down as low as 50 but I have found no porotypes or 5-10 minted bars.
I can’t believe I missed this video. Great presentation Struck, and its so painful to me the only Engelhard 10oz bar I have is the MOST common portrait big E!! LOL 😂😂
Yes but you have one in the collection! Engelhard bars are better stumbled upon as a collector over just buying them for all the money on Ebay, imo. It's a slower way to collect but you end up with upside value.
It's funny how you and I are often looking for the same silver! I've been able to acquire a variety of 5 ounce bars over the past 6 months and have not shown all of them yet. My interest in 3-5 ounce ingots has grown over the past year or so.
I've been picking up some waffle backs lately but feel I have enough of the pressed and P loaf on hand. Hard to pass up an Engelhard when you find one!
@@SilverStruck my lcs had 3 of the vertical ones. Theirs always some random ones on some lcs' website. I get them from time to time. One has had a 10oz JM bar for the longest time. I might get it since i've never had a 10oz JM bar before.
@@SilverStruck indeed it is very accurate and correct. Your presentation is very good. I’ve never had the desire to speak in my videos. I don’t know why I just don’t like to I guess. But it’s similar to what I would’ve said if I did the same video. I think I’ve got all of those except for the chunky with “Engelhard” on the back. I have a pebble back, but not the one with Engelhard.
@@SilverStruck something you may find interesting, the one that you consider the most common, which you are correct the regular E bar, you see those all the time, and that’s very correct, however, a few years ago, I think about four years ago one came into the shop that I work at that looked a little different, the owner thought it was fake so I took a close look at it, and I was like no, this is real. Somethings different about it though. And then I noticed it had a different prefix, so I went on all Englehard and sure enough there was a page for it and they estimate 750 were made! my serial number is on the front page there, it’s P130087. Next time you’re on the page you’ll see which one I’m talking about because my serial number is right there but that was a really really cool find! Possibly worth a lot, who knows. But I was able to buy it like a normal bar, I think spot plus a dollar at the time. 😎
No worries! There are some variations of the pressed bars that are low mintage or at least lower. It's easy to go down the variation rabbit hole on a video, so I stuck to just the major ones. Glad you have a rare pressed Big E- that is a great bar for your collection! @@asheland_numismatics
I will have to get a 10oz for my little stack as Engelhard mint was just round the corner from where I worked and a few friends worked there in Chessington Surrey UK many years ago
I love 5 ouncers! In a few weeks, I will have a video out about 5 ounce and below bars. The biggest problem with the small vintage bars such as the 2, 3,4 and 5 ounce along with 100 gram are the super steep premiums those bars can fetch. Because of the premiums, I only have three 5 ounce Engelhards in the stack- one I have not shown yet.
I traded most of my bars for gold but still have 4 of the common E portrait pressed bars, one somewhat rarer 5-digit serial number poured bar and one common Canadian 10oz poured bar. I still have 52 10oz RCM bars and many vintage American 10oz bars. BTW, subbed.
Thank you for the sub, much appreciated! 53 10 ounce RMC bars- that's a great stack of silver just on it's own, wow! I have a little of everything, I don't get too deep into one bar or another myself. Only one 10 ounce RMC bar in the stack but it's a vintage one.
I knew Engelhard was a valuable pickup, but I had no idea it had tiers! I'm looking forward to getting into collector silver at some point, but for now I just try to go for lower premiums, and I enjoy melting shot into things.
I started with straight silver stacking and then ended up as mostly a collector. Silver has a lot different areas of interest- vintage, modern collectibles and pouring like you are into. I like to post videos like these to help people interested in vintage silver. Thank you for watching!
Sure, I can try for you. The best way to explain the main difference is with the W series. The W series was cast at Engelhard's California facility from recycled silver. (w) West coast and the only West coast US Engelhard bars made with only 18K of the 10 ounce. The P series (made in NJ) have a much wider range with the P loaf shown in this video as one of the more produced bars. Hope this answer helps
Great info and to see the varieties. I only have one 10 oz bar and it's the Engelhard eagle logo pressed bar. Have you ever put a Engelhard 10 oz pressed bar in a capsule that wasn't in it's original packaging?
Always good to see you here! No- I have raw pressed Engelhard bars but have never tried to fit them inside capsules. Not sure there is a good fit out there as these bars are quite long and narrow compared to say Sunshine.
@@SilverStruck Kind of what I thought. I knew Air-Tite was too wide. The original packaging for mine cracked to the point where the bar could fall out. Moved it to a small but heavy duty ziplock bag and guess that's where it will stay now.
Yes sir, love the right kinda toner! Just a more rare one for the next video, pretty happy about to show are hard to find bar. Have a great rest of your weekend!
It's better when you say it, lol!! Thanks for all the support Bean, your the best! Been on a roll with picking up more Vin Ta Gay, so more of those type of videos coming up. Happy Sunday😊
I'm signed up and look at their site but have not purchased from them yet. I know they have some very special silver that you do not find on Ebay and other places@@silverbeancounter
When it comes to large Engelhards, any extra value is based on rarity. If you have the more common ones, the bars are worth pretty much the same as generic silver. However, if you have some interesting rare ones, the collector market often pays in the 35-50 per ounce range (as of today's date)
Awesome bars, I think they’re all great!
🔥🦈🌊
Engelhard is my all time fav but I've been into CCM's and Silver Towne as well. Would love to get my hands on a H&H bar but that's not easy to do!

so glad i stumbled across ur videos. can you differentiate between the P series and the W series of waffleback plz.
Talk about some toners lol. Nice
Yes sir, love the right kinda toner! Just a more rare one for the next video, pretty happy about to show are hard to find bar. Have a great rest of your weekend!
💯

Bitter again by the Engelhard bug. I really need to stop binge watching your channel. 😂😂😂
The Engelhard bug is a strong one! There are worse things you could be doing with your fiat, so keep stacking those Engelhards!

@@SilverStruck oh man, I just scored on Mineral X this evening. Have you bought from them before?
I'm signed up and look at their site but have not purchased from them yet. I know they have some very special silver that you do not find on Ebay and other places@@silverbeancounter
Ive got some 50oz engelhard bars any idea on the worth
When it comes to large Engelhards, any extra value is based on rarity. If you have the more common ones, the bars are worth pretty much the same as generic silver. However, if you have some interesting rare ones, the collector market often pays in the 35-50 per ounce range (as of today's date)
@@SilverStruck if i give you the numbers off a couple would you know
