    The fall line is how far up the ocean covered the state at various times. You can actually find sharks teeth in Columbia, SC and Columbia is a long way from the coast. Thanks for watching. Hope you find great gold in your pans.

    I did an internet search for gold in KY and came up with not much. Could be some near the border of KY and southern Ohio but it would be only small glacial deposits. Give it a try. Gold is not always where it is supposed to be. Good luck. I hope you find some.Thanks for watching!

      You are just a little bit north of the gold, Joshua, but I have found a little in your area. Look in rocky creeks with lots of quartz. Sandy creeks generally don't have much. Good luck. Hope you find some awesome gold.

    Stick with the pan at first. A shovel, pan and 5 gallon bucket are still my primary prospecting tools. Master the panning and if you find gold, then move up to a sluice. If you have little water flow I wouldn't buy the bazooka but would go with a cheaper LeTrap or something like that. Good luck and remember us if you strike it rich!

      Thanks for watching, Jon. Sometimes we don't find any gold either. Just have to keep trying. If you are finding any gold, keep sampling the creek. There is probably a honey hole or pay streak somewhere. Don't give up! Good luck.

    It's often hard to put a price on one piece. It depends on how large it is, how much character or how unique it is. Specimen pieces usually sell for more than the spot price of gold which is over $1400 per troy ounce. Thanks for watching.

    Found a little gold up your way, Cj but mostly fly poop specks. I am usually looking for rocks when I head to Western NC. Check any creeks you can gain access to. You never can tell when you find a great place to prospect. Sometimes gold is where it isn't supposed or known to be. Wish I could be of more help. Thanks for watching and good luck.

    I'm new to panning. I was just at a creek today in Cherokee County, SC. Only found a few flakes for the couple hours I spent there. I guess I've still got a lot to learn. Anyways, I've been enjoying a lot of your videos and getting some great insight, thanks a lot!

    • @indyme2
      @indyme2  3 роки тому +1

      If you found some gold, keep sampling. I remember sampling a creek for about 2 hours and only found a few fly poop specks in each pan. I decided to keep checking and do two more samples before I gave up on that creek. The next pan, I hit it great. Found an area about 8 feet x 8 feet that was rich in gold. Sample bank to bank and sample where you least expect to find it. Good luck, Zach.

    I agree. cordelmar. When we first visited that creek several years ago, we could jump across it. Floods have washed the banks and bottom away so much we hardly recognize it. New development, parking lots, shopping centers and redirecting water flow have done more changes to this creek than any amount of occassional recreational gold prospecting ever can. Thanks for your comment.

    I don't recall what was in the last pan but panning and sluicing may return about $35-75 per day. Dredging brings in more as you move more material. Recreational prospecting will not make you a living, at least in most places. The gold is very pure in this creek. Over 95% gold and also contains copper and silver. Big flakes and pickers may sell for more that the spot price of pure refined gold. Dust brings about 80-85% spot value, depending on who is buying. Approach it as a hobby.Thanks!

    Could be some glacial gold in upstate NY. I would give it a try. It may be fine but any gold is good. The number of colors per pan is important because it gives you an idea if you are getting closer to the source of the gold and which areas are best to set up a dredge in. The more colors, hopefully, the better your take for the day. Each spec of gold is a color. Some are fine, some are chunky and occassionally we find a picker or some wire gold. Good luck with the prospecting. Strike it rich!

  • @indyme2
    @indyme2  11 років тому

    You have a good eye, Coon8448. I don't use the small riffles. They work but I do just better rotating the pan to the smooth side when I get down to the gunpowder black sand. I like blue pans or black. Don't like green. I can't see fine gold in a green pan. The Proline pans are great and heavy duty. I use the smaller blue Keene pan too but the bottom breaks out of them all the time. They won't hold a large amount of gravel without breaking. And for finish panning, a small black pan works for me.

  • @indyme2

    @pogobull Thank you pogobull. We appreciate your comment. This creek looks great. We can't wait to drag in the dredges.

  • @indyme2
    @indyme2  11 років тому

    Tom, black sand is not always an indicator for gold. I panned a creek once that had so much black sand I could hardly hold it and it had no gold. Black sand makes it really hard for the gold to work its way down to the bottom of the pan. Try it by taking three or four times the amount of time you usually pan. Stratify constantly and see if something is just hidden in there. Good luck and let us know when you find some color.

    Just grab a shovel and pan, and start checking rivers and creeks. Be sure to get permission from land owners first. Take a 5 gallon bucket too and throw your black sands in it to pan later at home. Cheap and easy to get started. A shovel and pan are still my main prospecting tools. Good luck.

      York County is a good place to start. Remember nearly all land east of the Mississippi is privately owned. Be sure to get permission before you dig. Good luck!
