it's probably rented equipment, good thing not everyone is wearing the same color;)
For the purpose of instruction and safety, wouldn't it have made sense to explain the reasoning behind why the axe is held so the pick faces backwards and also to include a leash and show swapping the axe from one hand to the other with the leash?
leashes are controversial. Some folks recommend them, while others do not. Furthermore, whether to attach the leash on the wrist or harness/waist belt is another area of controversy.
That is a fairly mean day..but not very mean for a Scottish Winter.
