Merry Xmas Jason! Got myself the glorious Sigma 18-35 for my M50. Am loving the boost in quality of my photos (especially in low light) ! I dont feel the nagging need to upgrade to FF just yet anymore. (You almost got me pulling the trigger on the A7iii 😅) I’m looking at the Sigma 50-100 as my next lens
I went to Yodobashi Camera in Japan in October...I almost fainted....and no tax. Actually, that entire building is a dream. So much stuff we cant get here in the states. Its like, Microcenter, BestBuy, B&H, Macys, and whatever else all in one store. Got Black rapid straps I didn't need, Lens hoods, Flashes..Headphones.
I'm so hyped about this lens. I know the world lost its mind over the Tamron, but there was just so many compromises I never loved it. Yeah, for the price it was WAY better than the Sony GM, but other than that, I really didn't like using it that much. This fixes everything for me. All the pros of the GM, none of the cons of the Tamron, and not that insane high GM price. I fully expect that a LOT of people who recommended the Tamron will start recommending this. The Tamron is still a great lens, and if it's all you can afford then rock on, but this is just so much better overall
Happy New Year, Jason. May you continue to be blessed & prosper in this New Year. And thank you for all you do to keep us well educated photographically. God Bless.....
I have to agree I brought the 24-70mm F2.8 GM just 1 year ago and I've use it probable about half a dozen times. It's only for locations/shots that I'm not too familiar with and just want a versatile lens. These days I just mainly carry the 24 & 85mm GM lens with the A7RIII in my 10L peak design sling.
Nice to see you Jason, and Vivienne was hilarious -she keeps you grounded but is also your enabler! At some point in the video I was distracted because it looked like you had piled on the pounds in Japan but I decided it was just the lens distortion for that segment - not too flattering! Looking forward to your continued adventures in 2020!
Hey Jason, can you do a review on the Sony ECM-B1M difference between analog and digital audio deferences. Cos I’m using an A7iii not the A7iv and don’t plan to upgrade as the high megapixel is too overkill for me.
Awesome news Jason my audio mic input works now after resetting my camera. Apparently my MKE seinhiser mic was defective. Since it was defective it blew out the Mic input and it also did it on a new camera that I just bought a Sony FDR 700 camcorder.Let anyone know of this . Simple fix of just factory reset
Watching you hold the batis changing to the sigma, and knowing how slippy it is, i was like 'kung fu grip engage!' At least it has the rubber focus ring to hang on to. People complain about it but it does help. Have fun at CES.
Jason - thank you for another great video. Question: You mention that you don't normally shoot with a lens like the 24-70. Can you tell me what are your "go to" Sony full frame lenses?
I’m so glad you got this lens, I’ve been waiting for you to try it out. Gerald, Chris and Vu have done a wonderful job at reviewing this lens and I was waiting for you before I finally make the decision. Definitely will be getting this lens when it’s available in February *cries in sigma* Unless you want to donate me your copy? ;)
Wonder how the new Sigma 24-70 will stack against Tamron 28-75. My Tamron 28-75, it's a fantastic piece of glass and I am not ready to trade any time soon.
This is exactly what I was waiting for and looking forward to your full review of the lens. Just a request - will you please test and comment on how good this lens would be for manual focusing for video. Excellent video.
Jason, I’ll be interested to see what you think of the ECM-B1M. I’ve been using it now for the videos on my channel and I love the low noise floor and the convenience of the mic. No cables and is very compact both on the camera and for traveling.
I have the 85mm 1.8 on my A6500 and is the best lens by far on my body. Neither the Sigma 16 1.4 is sharp as the 85mm. Take into account is 130mm so is only for exteriors. Sigma 56mm is a good choice only if you don't have plans to go FF in near future.
Thanks all!! @@YariJaluff -- Do u have the sigma 56 too?? is the sony 85 sharper then it? The reason I am wondering about the 85 focal length is because I already have the 50 covered in kit lens
@@stantheman3674 I dont like the Kit, at 56mm Sigma Will be way better in bokeh and sharpeness, so if you are not planning an FF upgrade soon, Sigma 56 Is the way to go. If you think to get FF body Sony 85 is the way. I dont have the 56 but hace the 16mm and the Sony is sharper. I love the 128mm focal length!
Ughhh I can get the sony a6400 with the 18-135mm lense for 1050 bucks. I'm not a huge photographer, but love shots you can get. I'm going to live in cali in the next couple weeks and really want a camera. You guys' are probably buy it, but should I get it or take the 6100 instead.
I bought a used Sigma 35mm lens at Map Camera in Japan and it looks pretty much brand new and I also saved a ton of money. It cost half of what it would cost here in Canada (where I'm from)
Hi Jason! Is this lens good for event photography specifically?? Im gonna be taking pictures of a band and some gigs are at bars where the light is not the greatest. Would you suggest thins lens or a different one?
