    Thank you for taking the time to watch! Do you perform a mid-year review of your finances? Any tips for us to add to our financial review?

    Once again great plan! I would just be a little cautious when picking individual equities. As we all know very few professional money managers can beat the S&P and a lot of individual investors learned that the hard way. You mentioned CCL being your biggest gainer so far this year. I opened a position in CCL around $12 and exited at $25 only to watch it drop to around $7 or so. After numerous close calls and losers over the years now I’m 90% QQQ and VOO and I sleep much better and couldn’t be happier. Lol

      Appreciate you watching and the feedback! We only have 3% of our portfolio dedicated to individual equities. 83% is in S&P 500/VGT/QQQ. Rest is in cash positions and dividend ETFs. As we approach retirement, we are going to be moving more and more in less risky allocations.

    Great video. I love the time and effort you put into these videos. Your general method and systems for managing your weath is absolutely remarkable, but then the way it's shared with us, with such care and detail, makes you both the real VIP! 🙂 Your channel needs more exposure. More people should see this! I am going to start a rally! I have a lot of folks in the budget community that would love your channel. Want to make sure they are already subscribed or join you and then let others know about you! 🙂

      @@libbysworld7649 Thank you so much Libby! That is so kind of you to say. We are out here just having fun and not expecting anything from it. As part of our retirement planning spending more time together is part of it and this is one way we found a spot to do it. We are grateful to find such nice people out here like yourself!

      @@hardyfinancialcoaching Appreciate you watching and the feedback. Buzz from Buzz Retirement Garage gave us a big shoutout on his channel this past week and that gave us a bump this the growth. We are happy just telling our story and spending time and information. There are a lot of channels about being in retirement and about financial planning but not many that are living the planning stage and drive to it. Maybe some of it might help someone.

    My first video on your channel. Found it very thought invoking. Your discipline sets you apart from a large portion of America! And the discipline is the tough part of your success! I would take exception to your individual equities as most could be got in a S&P or Large Cap Mutual fund position. Not saying you're wrong just not the way I'd approach it. One question in my mind is that amount of dollar growth you produced in first six months must be in taxable accounts? So if that's the case will your year end allow for the tax bill generated by those same gains, assuming my assumption is correct. I did subscribe and will be watching more of your videos. Good luck on your journey!

    • @OurRetireEarlyJourney
      @OurRetireEarlyJourney  Місяць тому

      Thank you for watching, subscribing and for the feedback! 98% of our assets are in large cap & S&P. The individual equities is a very small portion that we like to have some fun with. Our asset growth was a combination in Tax Free, Tax Deferred and Taxable accounts. So far this year we have only sold a small amount in our taxable accounts and at a loss, so that will be deductions from our tax due at the end of the year. Since everything else that has gain has not be sold, it will not impact our taxes until we decide to sell them off. Our plan is to hold those the next 3+ years. With that said when we do sell those at a profit (hopefully) our gains tax will be long term and be in a low tax bracket. Really appreciate the thoughtful question!

    Another brilliant video 👍🏼
    Interesting about Carnival because I bought a few shares not long after the pandemic broke out but I haven’t even looked at them in a couple of years.
    I’m interested in hearing more about your new house. Where you are in the process, when it will likely be finished, and when you think you might move. We just passed our five year anniversary of moving into our current home and it has been quite the journey. Different than yours for several reasons but I’m still interested in hearing about yours.

      Thanks for the feedback Failure and for watching! We'll create a video to cover the house construction and process. Great suggestion. Wasn't sure if anyone would be interested in that or not. It is part of our pre-retirement journey so it does fit nicely.

    Loving the content, and continue to stay true to your rules, don't divert from them, great job on the report. Dividends is more for once you retire for sure. growth is best. I have 2/3 of my investments in growth like stocks and leverage etfs. I do have a question ... do you have a cash reserve and if so how much do you have in months? the market is positive right now, but if the market takes a black sawn event, you do not want pull from these funds only, the cash reserves. We are not there yet either, but building to have a year or more in cash for these events. Tech stocks will be your winners for sure, and with AI, robotic will excel faster and faster, you have some great picks I like, surprise about carnival. Great work, I love watching you two. Oh and we are looking at TN too from Maryland.

    Hi, I'm across the Connecticut River and moved here a year ago, a little younger than you both. Also an avid investor. Have you guys ever looked into VGT or SMH? You mention Applied Materials--I'm looking into Terradyne for semicondcutor manufacturing.

    • @OurRetireEarlyJourney
      @OurRetireEarlyJourney  25 днів тому

      We have a substantial holding in $VGT (25% of retirement assets). We have thought about the $SMH but at this time we think we lost our window for the beginning hyper growth opportunity. It's up 320% in past 5 years which is amazing. Appreciate you watching and commenting!

    This is an amazing overview. It has been a terrific year of growth, and I am thankful to be in my first year of retirement with the stock market positive. It is giving me extra time to rebalance. Will you reach coastFI at some point and then pull back or is your plan to go forward this way right up to when you pull the trigger to retire?

    • @OurRetireEarlyJourney
      @OurRetireEarlyJourney  Місяць тому

      @@davidnprogress Thanks for watching and the feedback David! We will be changing our strategy as we approach. We have our pre-retirement buckets now to fill, “59.5 & Bridge”. As we get close to 59.5, we will transition heavy to the bridge. We will do a video on our bucket strategy and then maybe another one on our asset allocation shift. Right now 59.5 is all growth… but will shift to reduce our footing in VGT and QQQ. Bridge will be much more safe for cash preservation for 5+ years to avoid sequence of returns risk.
