It's when you've failed and sinned, gets into his presence, see how awful it was and then he still forgives you, that you start realising more how God's love is beyond all comprehension.

This is very interesting, around 7 minutes in, about the rending of the curtain at Jesus's death. I had always been taught that it meant we now have access to the holy of holies, no need of priests' intercession. He said it meant God's judgment I believe he said on the temple. God leaving the holy of holies, which I found even more fascinating! But he hasn't said anything about our now free access to God. Although I should finish the rest of the video before stating questions. 😊 But what a fascinating concept! Definitely deserves research. God leaving the holy of holies because they have done the most egregious thing to His Son!

God is big enough to leave in what He wants. The long ending is the orthodox version. Found in over 90% of bibles out there. But most people hate it because it says believe AND be baptized

It is a shame that it is already assumed that the Gospel of Mark ends at ch16 v8, "primarily" due to the witness of Vaticanus and Sainaticus. There is very strong evidence for the longer ending of Mark and there's a reason the church has largely believed it to be original despite knowing of other variants.

When did the NT Bible become the complete "inerrant" snd "sufficient" Scripture? 1st century, 2nd, 3rd, 21st century? Did the great majority of believers throughout the ages use the "wrong" Scripture? Who is the person who says what constitutes Scripture - the Holy Spirit or the 21st century scholar? Yes, perhaps there could be later additions to Mark's gospel account, but the doctrine of the inerrancy of Scripture claims the main author to be the Holy Spirit. And yes, those who want to print and sell Bibles today and make lots of money for themselves, have to find a way to differentiate themselves. I'm just so surprised that people will so quickly catch the bait and be willing to throw away Scripture, the writtent Word of God. If prophecy is such a threat to changing Scripture (and preventing another Joseph Smith from correcting our "corrupt" Bible with his own version) that cessationists want to disbelieve it out of their Bibles, isn't it even worse to actually write a different Bible and claim it to be the only holy and true one? Here, this is about altering the actual, original Greek text passed throughout the ages, not about a different English translation of the same Greek text.

The longer ending belongs. Many ECF's quoted the longer ending.
No, I don't mean drink poison or handle snakes intentionally.

What isn't dealt with over the textual variant is that verses 9-20 were quoted by Origen in the earliest commentary on Mark and Irenaneus quotes it. So as Dr. Keener mentioned it goes back to the 2nd Century and that is an earlier witness than the manuscripts we have.
Textual critics use a sound method to verify with probability the earliest text and its true that it's easier to explain that verses 9-20 were added rather than taken out and the Greek style is different to Mark's style. So Dr.Keener might have been wise in not connecting it to Mark's gospel series.
But that doesn't deal with the issue of authority of the variant. There is a reason it was added very early and within the canon around the time of Nicea. The textual variant maybe not be an original part of Marks gospel but it still has scriptural authority, perhaps it's an independent apostlic witness that had to be placed somewhere
I'd suggest it provides a great text for a preacher as no need to provide Marks context
Martin Luther used Mark 16:16 for THE promise of salvation and assurance in the Shorter and Larger Catechism. So it's an essential Reformation variant.
Many a missionary have witnessed to the Holy Spirit bringing verse 15 " Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creatures" to mind.
Textual criticism might verify the earliest text but it cannot establish a text's canonicity. Canonicity isn't subjective.
So speaking with new tounges to those who believe remains ))) this the Word of God 😜😜🤪🤪

The gospel of Mark is NOT a parable. It’s a fast forward concise account.
It drives me nuts when I hear people say of the critical text as the earliest manuscripts…you mean the earliest found??? Early does not necessarily mean oldest.

    So powerful! Thanks guys.
On the alternate ending: Isn’t it fair to consider it functionally having creedal / confessional status (as a legitimate and appropriate summary of a particular portion of our faith), even if it isn’t inspired Scripture?

What claims does this ‘disprove’? Remove verses 9-20, that doesn’t discount the accounts in the other Gospels. It just shows Mark ended it there since he had made the point he was trying to in writing to begin with. Keep the verses in and it matches up with the others quite well.
“When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might come and anoint Him. Very early on the first day of the week, they *came to the tomb when the sun had risen. They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” Looking up, they *saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large. Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they were amazed. And he *said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.’ ” They went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. [Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. She went and reported to those who had been with Him, while they were mourning and weeping. When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they refused to believe it. After that, He appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking along on their way to the country. They went away and reported it to the others, but they did not believe them either. Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.] [And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions. And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation.]”

Thanks, Justin for showing that your bible can't be trusted since you have no idea what parts have been added or not. Alas, if you keep those extra verses in, they contradict those too.
"After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead,[b] and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ This is my message for you.” 8 So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”" Matthew 28
Here there is an angel, not a man. Then the women met jesus, and held him.
"But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in, they did not find the body.[a] 4 While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. 5 The women[b] were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men[c] said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.[d] 6 Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.” 8 Then they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb, they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; then he went home, amazed at what had happened." Luke 24
Here we have two men appearing. The women didn't see Jesus.
"Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3 Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10 Then the disciples returned to their homes.
11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12 and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew,[b] “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her." John 20
And again, entirely different claims. No men or angels greeting anyone. Mary is told not to touch JC. She has no idea who he is.
Why would you try to lie to me when I have read the bible and can cut and paste it here?
Then we have this promise from Jesus or it's just added and is false, which would be a probelm if your god cares about the truth>
"Go into all the world and proclaim the good news[d] to the whole creation. 16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes in their hands,[e] and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”"
Funny how self-proclaimed Christians like you can't do this at all.
