    The woman with long hair looks to be practically in tears as her beautiful long blond hair is feathered to ribbons, leaving the length really wispy. lt's going to take her years to grow that out

    As a recently "retired" hairdresser with over 26 full-time years experience who has attended a LOT of educational events, shows and classes... I found this video of a live show very entertaining and educational. It's exactly like ONE TYPE of demonstration. Most of the local shows are small, tedious and only meant to educate about the product. Then, because of recent laws created to improve the quality of hairdressers, we started getting charged for going to classes which (in most cases) only turned out to be nothing/little more than product knowledge demonstrations... which should always be free unless they're showing you inspiring, innovative, new techniques. There's not much more that will piss a hairdresser off than paying $25-35 (or more!) dollars and their day off just to be taught that you mix this amount of this with this amount of that, apply to hair in the typical/standard manner, then process for the typical/standard amount of time... all of which is generally standard procedure and easily read on the actual instructions included with the product. This particular demonstration/show was MEANT TO ENTERTAIN. It was meant to be showy, funny, to shock, to show possibilities, to inspire hairdressers to get out of their comfort zone and out of the same-old, same-old rut. This helps the hairdresser go back to the salon happy and content and excited about doing YOUR HAIR again. We almost never duplicate the cuts/color/techniques... but we do take away from these shows & demonstrations ideas, inspiration and techniques... and we drop it up or down a lot or a little, depending on the guest in our chair... or we just talk about the crazy, exciting things we saw at the show! The point is, this type of Show keeps us motivated and happy and eager to see our own guests again. The colors demonstrated in this demonstration were vibrant and rich and showed different coloring techniques, and you recognized this if you know anything at all about haircolor. As hairdressers, we're always on the lookout for coloring products which will fade as little as possible, make styling the hair faster and easier for the guest to recreate and hairstyles which will work with the guests hair type and be easy to recreate at home. The cutting techniques in this video were exciting, inspiring, educational and kept my interest... which is exactly what this particular type of "Show" is meant to do. This demonstration is only one type of exhibition and is not a class per'se. Most classes are a bit on the boring side, detailed and, quite frankly, unenthusiastically repetitive to those with a few years experience. If it wasn't for this type of "show", which breaks the monotony and entertains as well as educates and inspires, many hairdressers would quit from massive boredom after only a handful of years working. So, indeed... the general public would not find this type of show a "proper" form of educational experience for a "serious" hairdresser. But for a hairdresser... it's an invaluable thing to witness for so many reasons.

      Thank you for accurate response. I find comments always mean spirited and rude most of the time. I doubt any of these people who say rude horrible comments are even in the industry. These stylists have been platform artists, educators, and inspiring stylists for years. Shame on people. If they don't understand the platform they should move on.

      @voceval1 8 років тому

      Darling I was a hair model, and I'm very much into embracing artistic thinking. I'm also able to think outside of the box, and discern quite well when I see real talent.. These styles are totally limited to one kind of clientele,.And besides the styles are dated and it's been done before!

    Anyone negatively commenting doesn't understand that these hair shows are meant to lend inspiration to future professionals and stylists. They're demonstrating different techniques because you go to a show to see the out of the ordinary because you're there to learn

      Majority of the models are not cutting their real hair. Stage work is for fun and abstract work. This isn't for your everyday wear unless it's just your style. Stage stylist also have a unique way of cutting. So no worries most of the womens hair is safe :)

    Hair dressers once they become "famous", they act just like those famous singers that make horrible music just because they're famous, so these hairdressers, shame because that is shitty work they teach, made no sense had no structure no guidelines, poor poor work.
