I originally thought this dark creature was Sombra, but then I read the sequel to this story, I learned this thing could break the will of even he who subjugated an empire.

robert avram In this story, I'm assuming this place is the real gate to Tatarus, and that it IS Tirek killing off Starlight as she ran a bit closer into tatarus to see Tirek there! That and Tirek did a similar thing for the last season's finale (Season 4) where the cutie marks were being removed, which Starlight took Tirek's idea and used it tenfold, further proving the point about Tirek getting angry because of being copied!

I want to say poor Starlight Glimmer. I heard the part about her wanting to create a world of equality and thought removing cutie marks would help. Granted, it is unfair that in reality that one particularly good employee is paid about the same as a bad employee, BUT it's also unfair that we go through life in a mad scramble to get jobs, good or bad, right or wrong for us, and such. Also, the cave monster thing did have a point about seemingly wanting all the other ponies to behave more like mindless robots or drones for her to control. If no one pony knew how to bake say cupcakes from having factory jobs like ours, and then the factories breaking down or shutting down, they may end up starving.
Obab did you altered the voice, cause you did a great job. But if not, still a great reading. This is very good. The voice is unnerving, but dang this is so brutal with the words it speaks. The writer is very good and brutal. I love it! Hope he/she has more under they'rs belt.
