I'm new to Ren but once I got introduced to him by " Hi Ren" by Ren. Since that day I've been like a fiending heavy drug user needing my next Ren reactor fix 😊
Having been Violet twice, it hits hard. Ren is an enigma, a poet, a musician, a storyteller, an actor. He has wiped out the divide of genres and generations. I've seen comments from those in their 60's and 70's, who you could never see appreciating rap, or even the language used. But it hit's everyone hard. Unless they have narcissistic tendencies, those who do won't appreciate it, or give it the time and ear it deserves. I asked my drumming friend to listen to Hi Ren, he talked through half of it. I'm like hmmmm, you don't get it, and you don't want to get it. I guess not everyone will feel the same way the majority do. Or maybe that's my friend, slightly narcissistic tendencies. Most musicians comments i've read, rate Ren big time Ren deserves his health back, he deserves all the Grammy's. A real person, living in the real world, telling real tales. Not some over produced mega millionnaire telling the same old, in the same old way. With barely any clothes on, cos that's what sells meh (cough Beyonce cough). Its all boring as batsh*t, gimme stripped back Ren every day of the week. Ren s**ts all over the majority of mainstream artists. He is so far above them.
At this point He could win 50 Grammys and 50 Oscars. It wouldn't change how I feel about his music or how I feel about award shows. But even though I enjoy the story I do wish we had more in depth talks as a society about domestic violence. Its not easy to help in these situations. I had a gf who's best friend was abused frequently. One day she got bloodied up bad and by her account he pulled a gun on her and pressed it to her temple. When we learned this we made a plan to go over and get her out of there as quickly as possible when he headed to the bar. She stayed at my gf apartment for a week. But one day coming home from work my gf noticed her stuff was gone. She moved back in with him. She left a note and later would meet up saying he had made real efforts to change. He was going to therapy and anger management. Sure enough the cycle repeated. And I refused to help again without a plan in place to keep her away from him. The dude was psychotic. She's still with him. She was hospitalized by him twice after that. Refuses to press charges on him though. And that was 3 years ago. They have a kid now. Another on the way.

Longue vie à REN je l'aime tellement j'aime la, musique la, bonne musique il est un artiste complet unique 🙏💖👏👍
The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every town, city, and country at this very moment and the cycle continues
Ren is a busker, but he isn't from Bristol (he may have busked there) he isn't even English (Bristol being in England). He was born and raised in Wales, he moved to Brighton in England (these three videos were shot in Brighton) as a young adult. All the nations of Britain and the UK are friends, but we have our rivalries especially when it comes to sports so it's an important distinction. I'm Welsh but I do not have any musical talent, however the Welsh are a musical nation and those that sing are amazing. There is a poem about being Welsh "To be born Welsh, Is to be born privileged, Not with a silver spoon in your mouth, But with music in your blood, And with poetry in your soul". Ren is on another level and it does not surprise me he is Welsh.
Sam Perry-Farley is the cinematographer. He is an amazing talent. They work with shoestring budgets and amazing talent. These ones are all one take chunks, sound and video, but for Hi Ren they used multiple takes for the camera angles, but one flow for the music. Thanks for a great reaction. This one was originally released in three parts.
@Jamie Arnold But how is he getting access to a functioning hospital for Violets tale? And that short where he's playing Screech going to the hospital, he's being rushed in on a gurney and everything! But also, if that guy gets his hands on an old haunted hotel?!? Holy SHIT! Where was the hotel?
Ren self-referenced the genre as bardcore. This was written and done in three parts, Jenny and Screech close together, Violet more than a year (?) later. It depicts the vicious cycle of domestic violence and abuse across generations. The range of musical expression that let's him pick the most fitting language for the point he is making is amazing. I get the wordplay and the poetic sophistication, but I gather that the music theory also tells the story.
Yeah, that's not the really impressive part to me. What's really impressive is that this wasn't a story line planned from the very beginning. It started out with a simple story about Jenny's death. And then a YEAR later, he wrote a short sequel about what happened immediately afterwards with the end of Screech. And then TWO YEARS later, he wrote the finale that ties it all together with an absolutely BRILLIANT plot twist. Watching these videos, you'd think this was all planned from the beginning and the videos shot on the same night, but no... these tracks and videos were released over the course of FOUR YEARS.
@@PoliticallyPink I cannot remember, this was months ago. Check out the earliest reactions to Hi Ren. The reactor had been wondering, and Ren left a comment using the term. I just rewatched the first hour if the Justin Hawkins interview, and at 1:15 he states that he loves the storytelling if folk artists, like Bards' He mentioned earlier in similar wirds to how he described the folk musicians, that the dramatised storytelling ones are his favourite kind. But neither reiterate the exact statement. That is as far as I get now.
He busked in Brighton which is 60 miles south of London on the Coast, Bristol is a Coastal Port not far from Wales, about 180 miles west of London. The videos, for all their production value are him & his friend Sam.
He is an amazing talent. Thank you for sharing this!! Also, it’s Brighton, not Bristol. I recommend The Hunger (his RAP skills), busking videos (my favorite War Pig), gorgeous collaborations with Chinchilla: “Chalk Outlines” and “How to be Me.” Thanks 🙏
I think he leaves everyone at a loss for words because he talks about issues EVERYONE can relate to but nobody wants to address,so when somebody can articulate the problems in a format everone can enjoy and plays a guitar as well as he does it pulls you in.i cant get enough
Ren named his genre Bardcore, I think the raw, live feel really resonates with people. I even prefer these performances over his studio style take. It's really making something more than just the music and it's really touching a lot of people.
Awesome reaction Man.... (it's a tad odd that googol's next AI is called "BARD"... just as Ren is getting traction after $ony dropped him for being 'sic'. Their loss, our gain.)
I really think Ren really is that over used word, unique. His musicality is so overwhelming that one sort of drowns in REN’s music. As far as the Sony thing goes, I believe they dropped him many years ago. I don’t think one can blame them because no record label is going to keep signed an artist who can’t perform, whatever the reason may be. If someone is really rated they might for 12 months or so but that’s it, then you’re out.
If not said, Violets tale brings the trilogy together.. At the end she said to the doctor "please keep my babies alive" Violet gave birth to Twins, who were separated at birth. They probably went into the adoption system, They grew up separate not knowing each other existed. By fate of chance the came together on one dark night. Screech murdered his own twin sister
There are two people involved with the vids, Ren and Sam Perry -Falvey. They are one continuous shot and are very scantily lit. Ren busked in Brighton not Bristol, not that that is too important. Cillian (Pron' Killian) Murphy, is a proud Irish actor from Cork. I liked your reaction to this pure Greek Tragedy.
When world’s collide! I found your channel from your Prince videos, and I just discovered Ren a couple weeks ago. Ren has so many songs, in so many different styles it’s hard to pick. Diazepam has some excellent guitar playing, singing & lyrics. Ren was also in a rock band called The Big Push, if you want to see him playing electric guitar & bass, The Big Push have tons of great live videos to checkout!
This type of storytelling is a part of Swedish culture and in Sweden it's been part of the culture for centuries. Ren however is one of the first people I have heard that does this outside Sweden.... and he does it with a twist.
The story told linearly: Violet, a woman who was abused as a child is 9 months pregnant. She is in an abusive relationship, & beaten nearly to death, but before she dies a doctor saves the twins she is carrying. The twins, a boy named Screech & girl named Jenny, are raised separately. Jenny is very quiet. In an ugly part of London she's walking along a street, and Screech, who is a violent robber targets her to rob at knife point. Frozen by fear, she can't give him what he wants fast enough. In a rage Screech stabs her to death without ever knowing it is his twin sister laying dead in the street. Screech goes on to threaten police with the knife, is killed, and lays dead in the street a block away from his sister. Ren tells it better
In his Live shows he goes into more detail... like Jenny being a street walker, getting stopped by the cop Richard! Also... Patrick doesn't answer because he's Busy with his girl... the one he calls, being told she's Busy! He catches them... flips out... kills Jenny, then gets himeslf killed by the Cop, Richard, that his girl called when she got caught with Patrick! There's more... but I'll save that... as I see him making part 4... Richard's Tale! Maybe... Perhaps!?!
There are 2 extended interviews with Ren. In his talk with Justin Hawkins (Justine Hawkins Rides Again), he recounts the story of his health struggles. In his talk with Knox Hill, it's more about his creativity. Both are excellent interviews. Black Pegasus also has an interview lined up but I'm not sure when. Don't miss his busking videos with his band The Big Push. They also have some wonderful cover videos - "Bongo Bong" by Manu Chao & "An Englishman in New York" by Sting.
I love that first melodic line at the beginning of Violet so much. Amazing to see a guy that can pull together so many talents at once to inject emotion into every aspect of the performance. It wouldn't be fair to spring this on radio listeners unsuspecting.
This was an enjoyable reaction. This trilogy is another example of Ren's genius and a master's class in storytelling. It has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy. I was surprised by your reaction, or lack thereof, at the conclusion of the trilogy. Most people are completely caught off guard by the ending; it is like a 1-2-3 punch in the gut. I don't know if you were too focused on the technical aspects of the performance and missed the storyline, or whether you simply did not feel the impact of the tragic reveal. In any case, I hope you will check out more of Ren. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, performs a number of genres, is an excellent storyteller, and quite the philosopher and poet. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the Moon), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "Bongo Bong (Manu Chao cover)," "An Englishman in New York," the songs "Oh My Woman," "Swan Song," and so many others are equally impressive and really give you a sample of his vocal ability. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. Ren's personal reflections on his struggles are threaded through many of his other songs as well; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world.
You always give great info on Ren's background, seen you on every react, pretty much. It's much appreciated. I was surprised at the lack of reaction at the end on this react, but think he didn't get it off the bat. Probably got it now lol. Ren is an incredible artist, in fact all the muso's in the 'The Big Push' are amazing. I love Blind Eyed (live, car park attendant was brilliant) and Black Sabbath's War Pigs, that was killer. Thanks again for taking the time to put those in the dark, in the light x
I love 70s rock because of the storytelling. Ren, is probably the best I've seen, and I've only seen this and hi ren... simply amazing. He is on a level all by himself in my opinion.
You didn’t seem to react to the reveal at the end of Violets tale that links the stories together, which suggests you either didn’t think it was worth mentioning or didn’t get it?
It is like a modern version of Kurt Weil and Bertolt Brecht's "3penny opera". It dates from the 20s between the war in Berlin. You probably know songs fro this opera such as the "Alabama song" ( ua-cam.com/video/PAK5blgfKWM/v-deo.html here by The Doors) or "Mack the knife" ua-cam.com/video/S-lHrDPjGfQ/v-deo.html. Music used as a social critic in an artistic manner. Ren is a F%?&k an genius. Take the time to read about those two German guys.
Great reaction and commentary my friend. There are oh so many Ren songs and it is almost impossible to tell you where to go next, so, on a lighter note you might want to try either "Power" or "The Hunger" which are both rap songs. OR, "Money Game" parts 1 and 2, are kinda similar to the trilogy you just saw. Really tho', anything you watch would not disappoint.
Watch / react to all three titles, together the entire trilogy story have to be heard in order, Jenny's tale, Screeches tale, and finally Violets tale...the ad break happened between Jenny's tale and Screeches tale, you did get all 3 dark mini stories that depend completely on each other to exist at all. This in my opinion is levels above and beyond any style of music out there.
I started listening to him ummmmm today... So blown away by this song and hi ren that I've listens to them for like 8 hours straight and that includes many reactions. I really wanted to hear more from you on what you thought about his imagination on the guitar depending on character he is portraying and his skill level. Other than that, good reaction and yes, this ren guy is something different for sure... rock on
Nice reaction came straight here from your hi ten reaction. Busking in Brighton not Bristol. Check him out singing “it’s a man’s world” with another great talent Sam Tomkins.
Brighton est une jolie ville balnéaire. Ren a appris à chanter dans le ventre de sa mère, professeure de chant. Il me semble que c'est un ami de son père qui lui a appris à être très créatif dans la mise en scène.
I really think that everybody is creative but i think also must people holding back because we also think you have to be perfect to do what you desire for. And it's don't have to be perfect neither is have to be music but it should be you're purpose!
You have literally named 3 of RENs biggest influences: The Police &Sting, Johnny Rotten, and Reggae ( specifically Bob Marley). I also hear Jeff Buckley.

I'm not sure, I would have to play different notes without him looking at what I was playing and ask him to name the note... extremely talented dude though!
Prob been said before but...He's not doing something new he's doing so.ething very old that we lost somewhere along the line. These style of songs are being performed in the bardic or penillion tradition.

@@zed4225 Thank you for your kind comment. Just trying to spread the word.
I love 70s rock because of the storytelling. Ren, is probably the best I've seen, and I've only seen this and hi ren... simply amazing. He is on a level all by himself in my opinion.
It reminded me, in delivery, of a Kurt Weill piece
Yes! I call Ren's style, "Guerilla Songfare"! He just ambushes you from every direction!
He ‘s Artist for sure
You didn’t seem to react to the reveal at the end of Violets tale that links the stories together, which suggests you either didn’t think it was worth mentioning or didn’t get it?
Ren was born in Wales and in his teens moves to Brighton not Bristol. Great reaction! Thank you 🙏
It is like a modern version of Kurt Weil and Bertolt Brecht's "3penny opera".
I'm from Birmingham where the peaky blinders started and yes he definitely looks like him. I said it as soon as I saw him..
Thank you Steve! So it's not just me then! lol
sir, he is the broken bard something old that's new again
Dear Ringer for Cillian Murphy .
He’s from Anglesey which is a little island off wales but moved to Brighton around 20 years old where he busked. Not Bristol.
Other than that, good reaction and yes, this ren guy is something different for sure... rock on
I find that Screech’s story has a very Guy Ritchie feel to it. The whole thing is so cinematic.
Nice reaction came straight here from your hi ten reaction. Busking in Brighton not Bristol. Check him out singing “it’s a man’s world” with another great talent Sam Tomkins.
I've been amazed since I seen him husband the big oush is his old band everything he dose is interesting and special great reaction
I would expect samurai swords behind you, instead of strings.
It seems like a modern take on the Mid-evil Bard. Think of Disney’s Robin Hood. I believe there was a bard in that cartoon. Story telling to music.
That's an interesting thought Dave for sure :)
❤❤😢
Ren is from Wales , Angelsey moved to Brighton , he is a maigaicn , him and Sam weave magic and music together
Moms Game part one two and Three ❤
Ren Chalk Outlines
Brighton est une jolie ville balnéaire. Ren a appris à chanter dans le ventre de sa mère, professeure de chant. Il me semble que c'est un ami de son père qui lui a appris à être très créatif dans la mise en scène.
I’ve heard him say it’s Bard Core
Lol that is a cool description!
i fink at end he talking about Devin Townsend - jeeze, imagine if Ren did a collab with Devin ...
A tale 2 come to mind rush 2112/ Pink Floyd the wall
Cillian Murphy is irish
BARDCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to ask in the first video I watched of yours (hi Ren) if you are in/from Canada... Because I can hear the out an about ❤️👍
Lol I'm as Canadian as it gets lol!
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar 4th generation Phoenix Arizona here. Howdy 🤠 it's a dry heat.. LMAO like blow-drying your face in the summer lol but I don't see myself moving anywhere else ❤️
@@Tessimistic420 all the vitamin D and dry heat is great for you and your bones as you age. I'd love to retire there or New Mexico, but it's the cost of health insurance...
When asked "what's up?" I always say.. The cost of living ❤️ only medicine I use is 420 laughter, ice an heat ❤️ too many side effects from side effects
Edit: an vodka LOL
Ren is also an amazing rapper. Check out Hunger.
Do you know he does everything live without editing?
Yes many have told me since posting this. Thank you for watching and commenting Steve, I really appreciate it :)
Not Bristol, but Brighton. 🙂
You should reach out to Ren and see if he'll do an interview!!
Hi Billy! He actually commented on one of my reaction videos and thanked me for the support. I have gently reached out to him but I think he was and is overwhelmed with interview requests, but I may try again soon! I really appreciate the support, thank you so much :)
Busker in Brighton not Bristol :)
There is Bosnian raper Edo Majka who telling story with raping. Mahir and Alma is one of it or prikaze is also good song. It is in Bosnian language but is wery good artist.
After THAT... you talk about yourself. Americans, gotta love 'em.
I'm American?
You're not talking about benjamin from Breaking Benjamin for the interview are you?
'Cillian Murphy' is pronounced Killian
Cillian Murphy is Irish, not British. It’s pronounced Kill-Ian not Sill-Ian. But that aside very enjoyable reaction 😂
You didn’t seem to react to the twist in the story! I can’t believe the amount of people that either don’t get it or just don’t seem to think it’s important enough to mention. That plus all the similarities between Violet and Jenny, Stevie and Screech! 🖤
bristol? might be brighton
Brighton not Bristol 😘
Does he have "Perfect Pitch" ya think?
I'm not sure, I would have to play different notes without him looking at what I was playing and ask him to name the note... extremely talented dude though!
*Brighton not Bristol :)
ua-cam.com/video/F0ysUs9JmmY/v-deo.html
Prob been said before but...He's not doing something new he's doing so.ething very old that we lost somewhere along the line. These style of songs are being performed in the bardic or penillion tradition.
Next reaction VOB _SABOTAGE_Beastie BOYS cover VOB BAND ROCK 3 HIJABERS 🇮🇩 LIVE FULL SET (8song )IN TAIWAN PASIWALI FESTIVAL 2022 👍 AMAZING 🤟🤟🤟
Dude... you Gotta see his video titled "screechs tale, instagram stories"!
Make sure ya read His comment, its Pinned in the comments! He explains how he came up with this story! It's Wild! He got in trouble and even lost alot of subscribers too! If he did that today... it would make Everyone go nuts!!! Lol
I fell into it without any idea what he was doing and thought "oh no! He's an a$$hole." It was scary brilliant
You probably will not read this comment but to compare Cillian Murphy to ren is understandable. What is unforgiveable is to say Cillian is British. Just for reference his name is pronounced killeean. Basic research would stand your channel well
Hi Larry! Thank you for watching and commenting. I did this video some time ago and many people corrected me on this. 😊
Next reaction VOB _ENTER SANDMAN Metalica cover VOB BAND ROCK 3 HIJABERS 🇮🇩 consert LIVE FULL SET At (FRANCE) TRANS MUSICALES DE RENNES 2021 👍 AMAZING 🤟
Brighton not Bristol
🤬🤬.. Cillian Murphy is from Cork .. Ireland .. 💚.. Ren also suffers from Lyme disease & was misdiagnosed .. a lot of his music reflects that ..
Killian, no K in Celtic names so all C's are pronounced K.
Don’t think he was from Bristol I think he’s from Bournemouth. Sorry Brighton
Bro, looks like you're reacting to notifications on your phone, not the video you're reacting to...
:D sorry dude, it was my doctor, my vasectomy appointment is confirmed for next Tuesday....
Still beats when reactors pause every 10 seconds to describe what was just said or what happened like they're making videos for fucking Hellen Keller
?
