This is the best update in a long time. I’ve been getting back in after a bad injury and this is the right combination of cushion and stability. I work at a running shoe store, so my options are profound, but I find myself reaching for the GT most mornings

      I'm 400 lbs. Just ordered
      1) Asics GT 2000 11
      2) Asics Gel Nimbus 25
      3) Brooks Dyad 11
Which of these do you think will be the most comfortable for me to walk in, but still safe. Can't have the sole crushing under the weight of walking around.
They arrive tomorrow. Will pick the best pair. Just wondering if you have an opinion.

I bought it from ASICS direct and at first I had some issues with rubbing against the side of my foot. I’ve changed the lacing and after 100km in the shoe including an hour of non stop running I was surprised how good my legs felt after running in them. They are working for me.

Hi man, appreciate your honest reviews so far on your channel! :)
Here I have a complete different experiance:
My (left foot is somewhere between EU 44 and 44,5 and my) longer right foot is excactly EU 45,5. I'm currently 90kg / 198lbs, 1,80m / 5,9 feet. My faster pace is like 5:15min/km and my slower pace is somewhere 5:50 - 6:00 min/km (I'm not able to run even slower - i don't know how this can be done). I can run fast up to 1 hour max and total i never run for longer than 1:30h and/or 17km. Usually in the 8km range.
I have in Asics EU 46 (which is US 11,5, which rounds UP to EU 46).
    I have GT2000 6 and 9, now freshly a brand new 12.
I NEVER had such a hard brick on my feet! As a default heel striker, i hit the heel and then the shoe falls like a tree to smash the ground, as if there was no midsole at all!
I NEVER experianced anythink like it! I just read positive reviews, positive tests, youtube videos etc, of the "old, boring, dull, hard, etc GT2000 getting new technilogy and is the best mild stability shoe ever" etc.
How disappointing! Ok, i did 1 short 5km run in them. I was hoping, that since I'm on the heavier side, a firmer sole should be better to not sink in too much etc. but hey, after all those reviews and now this experiance, I'm aksing myself what if it is JUST MY pair that is soo stiff?
I'm thinking of buying GT2000 v10 and v11 online to test them at home to see how they feel compared to my v6, v9 and v12 and then decide which shoes to keep and which to sell.
I run very inconsistently, but am very motivated to get back into running. I purchased a Novablast 4 TR and ran 11km (half of which was trail) with pauses for a few excercises and then a week later the wings for life app run. After 1:30h and 16km my quads were absolutely DONE. Also, my medial arch was sore - which i NEVER experianced in my life before. Ha, that must be the neutral shoe, because until now i always ran in my GT2000 v6 and then v9! (and my red Gel Fujitrabuco for trails).
Also after those superb reviews of the Noosa Tri 15 i got one (used for 38km) pair second hand - nice! This will be my stiffer, summer, barefoot streetshoe as a contrast to the highly stacked, soft Novabolast 4 TR!
Now I wanted to get a third shoe, for long runs or stability of the softer Novablast 4 TR makes my feet or arch sore...
Long story short: How long do you think I have to run in this GT2000 v12 until it softens up to beeing able ti run in them? Because right now they are unusable bricks!
I even experimented with strikes - from my default heel strike to extreme (feeling fo me) forefoot strike, going back bit by bit to mid foot and heel again.
After 20min in my first run i managed to land perfectly on the whole shoe at once, which made the smashing sound (of the forefoot hiting the ground after heel strike) disappear completely. AND it felt good! Unfortunately the window to this "perfect midfoot strike?) is VERY narrow. I just managed to find it again one time after that and only for a few seconds.
Most of the time i felt like i was clumsy trampleing on my forefoot, and then heel again, which made me feel the inside of my right knee again, which is still a thing after the last long run.

It is indeed a delight of shoes to use for running !
The GT 2000 12 shoes made me forget the awesome Kayano Lite 3 that was one of the best shoes I have used in 2022/2023 ! The only thing now that I miss from my old Kayano Lite 3 is that Asics didn't use again their best laces ever made for cushioning shoes.

Kayano 30 is my first stability shoe I really like and really enjoy running in. Finally something that addresses my pronation without killing my feet due to firmness and/ or pressure on my arch (like Tempus and all the others did).
The amount of cushioning is very enjoyable. Not interested in its little brother reviewed here because I'm not giving up comfort that Kayano 30 provides for a little livelier ride.
I like this trend with high stack and new, better foams, even with this version of EVA (FF Blast +), which is infinitely better than the classic firm and dull EVA. There is some liveliness in Blast+, not too much, but it's there.
I see new Novablast 4 is coming, it might be interesting shoe under condition the price is close to reasonable like with the previous model.
I had to wait for 3-4 months, I think, for Kayano 30 to become reasonably priced (I paid ca 150 €). Asics made a few good shoes lately, just the pricing is a big problem.
Till the prices drop, I usually lose the interest for the particular shoe. Paying 200 € for the shoe with EVA foam, no matter how good version it is, is just stupid, in my opinion.
If it were PEBA, that would be much different proposition.

I used to run in GT-2000, but they lost stability when they went to the knit upper design. So I changed to Brooks Adrenaline and is very happy with the shoe that easily does 1200 km which the GT-2000 struggled to do. Only downside is that I don't think it is a fast running shoe and the upper goes bad so can't use it for walks etc. after it is worn down as a running shoe.

@@Miller-Time-Runner cheers for the recommendation I’ve heard good things about the ES 3. I’ve found that the GT 2000 has softened up slightly around after 30km, so it now feels like a mid stack daily trainer as opposed to a block of wood as it felt on the first two runs. I find this kind of shoe a good daily trainer companion to the more bouncier higher stacked ASICS shoes of new as it keeps the feet strong. I think the cumulus used to be that, but now it seems to have morphed into something resembling a nimbus/NB hybrid. It definitely needs time to break in though, and probably felt rougher for someone like me who’s only run on NB3 for the last year (two pairs).

      Hey Fozzee,
FYI: I just returned my Kayano 30’s for the GTS2000 bc I also thought they were comfy but clunky. It’s a lot shoe, with that huge heal and foam stack, especially for a 5’5” man at 155 lbs. So far, the 2000 feels great, more streamlined, yet still wide base, good arch support, and super comfy. I also prefer lower 8mm drop vs 10 mm, and 32 stack of foam vs 40 on the Kayano. It keeps me closer and more connected to the ground without giving up comfort. Again, I am not a large, heavy man. Only a week after my return of Kayano 30, and, for what it’s worth, so far really love the French blue and orange one’s I have. Good luck to you!

But though the midsole reads FFBlast+, it is very hard, probably only a thin layer of FFBlast+ on top of something else. And it gives me no transition from heel to toe, makes me slow. For a trainer, I find it to hard, for a speed shoe it is to slow. Not the right shoe for me.

Did you use the shoe more than once? If so did the foam soften up? I’ve been having the same problem too.

Saludos

I love ASICS for running but I feel that these wouldn’t be the best for running on a tread

I enjoyed running on a treadmill in these (if that's what you meant by tread?)

Sorry to say but this is not the best review because you don't talk about your actual foot fitting into the shoe such as toe spread and how the shoe fits at the heel. When running you spring off of your toes, those toes spread.
Yes you do mention the wide platform but that is on the outside of the shoe and you mention that you don't feel any internal stability, what does that mean, is there any movement of the foot? All you say is that it fits true to size.
