I sold so many of these trucks at the hobby shop I ran. A little tip on these new 4.6 engines. Remove glow plug,several drops of after run oil, pull it over about 10-15 times. Reinstall glow plug with an extra gasket. Then it won't be so hard on pull starter to get thru the first 2 tanks. I want one of these again, but the price is hard to get right with. When you got yours the price was fair.

Love the hpi savage! Question I have the generation before yours with the dual shock set up truck- does most the parts from the newer trucks fit those older trucks too? I bent my frame and broke the bulk head where the arms mount and am having a hard time finding parts or trying to find a schematic for the proper parts
What do you prefer the new Hpi savage or the American beast you got a couple of weeks back ??? I have the hpi firestorm flux it's a beast with the upgraded gears I got 68mph out of it but I only managed 3 runs then it cut out because it was really hot but still Hpi are great cars ..and the new savage is a beast

It's mostly for aesthetics and could be easily removed. But you know what, the pre-drilled body holes are there and over time I'd say some serious roll-cage style mods will come out for this. Its a matter of time, you know.

I just can’t get over the price!! Is it just me that thinks it’s crazy how expensive this new Savage has gotten? I remember getting my Savage 25 when it very first came out for $320 from my local hobby shop almost 20 years ago and still have it. This was back when it was normal for local hobby shops to carry HPI products. Paying close to $800 after tax is a lot for this imo. I have a savage 25(almost 20 years old now!!) and savage X-SS, and I can still get a new savage X for less than $500 after tax. I run the hell out of them, and don’t see what benefits paying 300 more will really get me in terms of noticeable performance difference they way you notice going from a savage 25 to a savage X with a 4.6. I would rather pick up a new X and put that 300 in upgrade parts that it really needs.

Maybe in the future when the price drops. I was actually excited about this when HPI decided to get back out there. I get it, there recovering from tragic times, but still! I have the original Savage x converted to an XL. I have about 3k in that truck. LRP 32, aluminum bulk head's, JR Robinson spur gear, aluminum clutch, sway bar kit front and rear, bullet proof front an rear differential, 60oz steering servo, 40oz throttle servo, aluminum knuckles, ETC, ETC, ETC. And I have an MGT 8.0. that one I have a sway bar kit also. A few things done to that truck as well. Not as much as the Savage though. And I have the HPI drifting mustang. So yeah, I have a few. Not as many as you do.... Lol.
