Space Engineers is a voxel-based sandbox game set in space and on planets, developed and published by Czech independent developer Keen Software House. In 2013, the initial developmental release of the game joined the Steam early access program. During the following years of active development, Space Engineers sold over one million units. In total as of 2019 the game has sold over 3.5 million copies In May 2015, for approximately a year and a half, the game's source code was officially available and maintained by KSH to assist the modding community. On December 15, 2016, the game entered Beta and was later officially released on February 28, 2019.
The game is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses, pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive.

Do you guys want more quick tutorials? Let me know what you'd like to see!
yes
Definitely. They are very helpful
Do one for LCD scripting
can you do a vid on how to make something like a. defence satellite with an artillery cannon. that will face and auto shoot when ships get in range ?
@@xelthiavice4276 I think he has covered it in another video. I can't remember which one.
Quick tip, for bigger turrets you may want to go to the rotor and/or hinge and increase their torque
I know this is an old comment but would this make it easier to lift up the turret or if not what would this change, sorry if this was stupid question
Set up the camera for the turrets after setting the guns. That way, the turret uses the gun as aiming reference, which means better aiming
Another way of putting a small hinge head on a large hinge (works in survival I'm pretty sure) is to have a timer block set at 1 second that just tells the hinge to ''attach'' and restart the timer after every time. Even if I knew how to do hinge turrets it still is a very interesting guide. Well done!
I like the idea of making a custom turret to have a spotlight shine on charecters, following them. Might be intersting in a nightly base infiltration scenario.
You know the Searchlight exists right...
@@Zer0sLegion I might have overlooked/forgotten that ^^"
(it does however seem to be part of a DLC that could be avoided through custom turrets)
If you're willing to build a fatter turret, use a rotor for the elevation, and set the positions of the weapons in the turret so that they're centered at the elevation pivot point. This will make them respond much more quickly, and improve their accuracy considerably. A key to achieving this, however, is to make sure the main portion of the conveyors is actually at the front half with the barrels, and is then routed to the back to feed the weapons. Unbalanced loads can impact how quickly the weapon responds.
It can still be done with the hinge-style turrets, but it will probably drastically limit their range of elevation anyway, except perhaps for gatling guns.
Biggest tip I learned here is the large to small grid conversion via rotors and hinges
Well done perfectly explained in under 4 mins👍
😁
thanks for this tutorial, now I know how to build nice gun turrets
I use Timer Block repeating "Attach" for placing a small grid hinge to a large grid one.
great Video! You really helped me a lot. Keep going!
Half block them full block the small hinge bit holds it at the perfect height while in gravity
SO helpful - thank you
You're welcome!
angle deviation does not change turret traverse speed,
angle deviation lets the turret fire when not fully aimed at the target.
the speed multipliers change the speed, and messing with rotor/hinge torque helps.
Hello ! I just started the game and I want to thank you for all the inspiring content you create ! I have an issue with your tutorial : the "adding small head" button is not available anymore and I run into some collision when I try to build some blocs INSIDE the big hinge (I still managed to connect the little one inside though), is this a recent modification and is there a way to still creat cool looking turrets like yours still ?
Maybe it's under the experimental options, i'm not really sure.
...and if you run Whiplash's "Turret Controller Enhancement Script" script, you can do things like use more than 2 actuators per CTC.
: D I'm early, great vid. And yes I'd love to see some more tutorials
More to come!
Personally, I like to place a small-grid CTC inside the turret itself.
what is a ctc
@@nicoro8872 Custom Turret Controller
Small grid only has 600 m of AI range, while large grid has the full 800. Not that big of a difference, but can be important when facing off against other AI aimed opponents
@@pocarski Ah. Good point.
How do you make them look round? Dumb question ik, but I really like the dome structure and can’t figure it out haha
Just copy what I did in the video and it should be fine
Thanks i am making a tank this helps
What block is that, that the camera and turrets are mounted to? I thought a conveyor junction but mine isn't flush like his. mine sticks out, even using the small hinge part
It's the conveyor converter
How did you get the turret to alternate guns when firing, instead of firing all at once?
Just rng, it depends on when you place them
Wait, this may sound dumb but, how do you control the turret after making it???
Add control to a toolbar
1:59 what is the block you put the camera on?
The conveyer converter
Need help!!
I follow this video to the dot, but I have an issue!
I cannot select my weapons, only rotor, hinge and camera... Ive tried everything, restarting the game, new world, make the weapons on the very first main battery the only weapons on the ship etc, nothing works...
Never heard that one before...
does it work with weapons core weapons
I don't know, I don't use Weapon core.
I have noticed I you place 2 blocks in the centre of a hinge and then small grid hinge part it can be attached
There is much more easier way 1:45 by using another rotor
Never said it was easy, I said it was the most reliable
Oddly my customer turret controller does not have "Available Tools and Weapons". Is this a recent change?
I doubt it, they haven't updated them since they came out
is there any way to make these faster to make
no
Once you build these custom turrets, how do I designate the blocks when writing scripts? Like what becomes "IMyRotor" and what becomes "IMyTurretBase" (or whatever that exact name is)?
No idea, i've never done scripting for turrets.
@@Zer0sLegion cool thanks for the response.
Does this need modern warfare dlcs
No
idk what i did wrong but mine just doesnt let me control it
You have to add it to a toolbar
Can I do this on console ?
Yeah, you should be able to.
cool video
Why do people keep using large grid turret controllers, which take a lot of space, when they can use a small grid one directly on the turret?
I just like how it looks aesthetically on my ships. Also, the small one would more that likely be places on the turret which would create a pretty big weakness on it.
Large grid controllers allow for an aiming distance of 800m while small grid only allows for 600m
turret ai doesnt need camera
ok
ive turned on the ai, but it wont target. i dont know why
It will normally indicate any errors on the right hand side.
How does my guy only have 5.72k subs??? He should be like. Halfway to 100k
found somethings funny i decided to mount my camera on the ship itself and the ai turrets work fine
The fact that i've been using a script to setup turrets for a year since i bought SE and didn't know about turret controller hurts so much😭
Im putting 4 railguns on a custome turret just giggles after watching this. Just about whatever I get in range is gonna get murked.
Iv been dumb this whole time i thought you needed scripts and junk to make AI turret
Ooooooooooh! ❤
♥️
I feel like this was inspired by my dumbass comment on the discord server and I feel called out.
I feel like you're thinking about this too hard
@@Zer0sLegion Ah but that’s my secret, I don’t think.
