I only have 2 on my plant and it doesn’t look like they would get to be 8” . Have been about 3” for quite some time. No more blooms. Anything I can do to help it?

Again not an expert, but I've read that once it starts to flower; lots of water, MY 1st year ,but when flowers began I watered 2x a day and every 2 wks put alittle liquid kelp in the water Just in pots on the porch I've got15 on one plant and it's still flowering I have tree rats to deal with so I spray and splinkle with cayenne Working so far Have to wash well when harvest but thats OK if it keeps the damn sqirrels away

Thank you, this is our first year growing Japanese Eggplant, so I watched your video to see when to harvest, your video was very helpful! Wish I had remembered the garden scissors or been a bit more patient to listen to the whole video before I gently pulled it up then twisted it a bit, but it broke away fairly easily and the fruit/veggie was not damaged, but the branch where it came from is a bit shredded. I will go back out with the scissors and make it a clean cut. Also, thank you for the advice on if the flower has been pollinated, that it will hang straight down. I saw that a few weeks back and wondered if I should dead-head it, glad I didn't as a week or so later the eggplant began to show.

You can also harvest them really tiny (about the size of your thumb or smaller) and pickle them. My favorite Japanese pickle...second only to okra pickled.

Your info is valuable and I enjoyed the content. But please don’t use spinning transitions in your videos. It’s a trigger for those of us viewers with vertigo or other balance issues. Any transition that doesn’t use quick motions would be preferred. Thank you.

Forgot to mention, we have potato beetles that damaged more than half of our small potato patch, the beetles also like eggplant. My hubby sprayed Seven on them half of the plants died. Not sure that there were any potatoes since the plants hadn't flowered yet. Not sure that I would eat the potatoes anyway; as I am not a fan of pesticides, my hubby isn't as opposed to the pesticides.
We are still finding potato beetles we on the potato plants and eggplants (one Japanese and one Black Beauty). I rinsed out an empty one gallon milk jug, then filled just the bottom inch or so with water and added some dish soap, put the cap back on shook it up, then removed the cap and put it in the garden. I plop the beetles and their little orange eggs in the jug as I find them. The eggs are tiny round and circular and will be clustered together. - info learned from watching many UA-cam videos :)
