Some of the girls on my line don't like tennis grip tape as well. This season they've experimented with all kinds of grips and found that taking pieces of cotton and taping it down with electric tape has worked really well for them!
I just got my 11 year old her first baton. It's a used baton and had lots of sticky tape residue before we re taped it... Some fabric softener on a paper towel will make the residue slide right off. If it is super tough the magic eraser finishes the job. Thank you for this video! We used gel grip tape for her baton. It's made for hammers, axes and lawn tools lol. Its a little thicker than the plain grip tape but not as thick as the tennis grip tape.
Hey Kristen Schroeder! The purpose of grip tape is to obviously help you grip onto an object, in this case a baton. So the benefits of using grip tape include a better grip when tossing and catching, and even with rolls! If you are like me and sweat a lot, you will immediately notice the impact grip tape has on your twirling when you use it! Hope this answers your question!

hallo sister Abby, i like your tutorial very much😊... i'm from Indonesia. but in my country, the sport of baton twirling doesn't exist. baton twirling is so foreign for my country . I don't know why so? but for me baton is a very very fun tool to play ...i dont have a baton twirling...there's no market that sale this item, none!! so i use a thin bamboo instead near my school.. i'm a senior high school girl class 3. so i play my bamboo in my house, i follow all your tutorial, yes all your tutorial. starting from techniques using 4 fingers, 2 fingers and others. really fun. initially it felt difficult. but over time my fingers got used to it. the biggest obstacle is lies on my ring finger, so the bamboo is less able to twirl . however I keep practicing until sweat. thank you :)
So I finally got grip tape for the first time for my baton, I got the same kind as u and I started twirling and I love it! Thank you for this! It helped me so much!

I have been twirling for about 2 years now but I am a home taught twirler. I began teaching myself simple things I used to watch my friends do and now I use your videos along with others' to help me. If you have any tips or tricks on twirling I would really appreciate the advise. Thanks

Really great video, grip tape will resolve one of the issues, but now the metal tip which holds the tips on is broke, do you know if that can be replaced? I can't find anything on fixing the broken metal tip in which the end rubbers tips fit on.
Hi Ms. Abby I just started this club at my school ( dazzling twirlers ) and we were doin the flat spin it was kinda hard for my risk but I try but the problem is that I can't go as fast as the other kids

I think some online supplier sell grip tape, but I have only ever used tennis grip tape. Maybe another twirler on here can answer this.....

So i twirl for my highschool marching band with two other girls and we march in like 40 degrees or below. would grip tape help us then? Our fingers are usually number so we can't feel the baton well. My keyboard is broken so sorry this isn't a more detailed question lol.

Hi Abby! I just started baton. I was wondering... would duck tape be ok?
I've been twirling for 4 years now and I've seen girls with duck tape on their batons and it does not look good. To me it is unnecessary because it doesn't grip your batons. Try to get your hands on some baton grip tape. It's a little hard to find and its not on Amazon. I got mine at Scottys Sports Shop but that may be just in my area. I hope this helped.

This is the tape I personally use. Wilson cushion. The other type that I recommend is wilson without the cushion. Just look in the tennis section at the sporting goods store.

Hi! Is there a possible way to fix my baton? Bc it cut in half and its a bit fixed right now but im not quiet confident with it because im scared that the next time i perform it might be cut in half again... sooo anybody can help me with it?

just me Roll tide where i twirl, our grip tape is tennis racket tape in the middle (which you can get at any sporting store) and the ends (on hers they’re yellow) it’s electrical tape which you can get st any store like walmart, target or a hardware store.
